The latest stories are that Joe Biden has been given only a few more days to prove he should be the Democrat nominee for president after his disastrous debate performance. If he leaves the race, the thinking is that the only person who could swoop in at this late stage and defeat Donald Trump in November is Michelle Obama, not Kamala Harris.
The speculation is not without merit according to a new poll.
Kamala Harris is a better-known quantity. She's held political office. She's one of the least respected and worst vice presidents America has ever seen.

While the rest of America geared up to celebrate the Fourth of July, the Biden campaign was hard at work stepping on multiple rakes, and getting mocked into oblivion for them.
On Wednesday afternoon, the official "Biden-Harris HQ" account, which I'm now convinced is run by White House pool boy Andrew Bates, went after Donald Trump over something called "Project 2025." What exactly is that? It's a transition proposal created by the Heritage Foundation and other conservative groups that includes reclassifying thousands of partisan federal employees so they can be replaced by the incoming executive.

The Democratic National Committee (DNC) issued a Fourth of July message in which it urged Americans to “reelect President Joe Biden” to protect our “fragile democracy” from the threat of Donald Trump, a “wannabe dictator.”
Its full statement follows:
On July 4, 1776, our country’s forefathers declared the United States’ independence and laid the foundation for our nation’s founding principles of equality, freedom, and liberty that we still strive to live up to today.
Since that time, generations of Americans have dedicated their lives to preserving our freedoms and working toward a more perfect union – from our men and women in uniform, to the organizers

If you (generic "you") thought texts created by artificial intelligence (AI) chatbots were free from the biases associated with biased human writers, you were terribly wrong.
Before we get to the "best" recent example, a few words on the basics of how AI chatbots work (emphasis, mine):
AI chatbots employ a variety of AI technologies, from machine learning—comprised of algorithms, features, and data sets—that optimize responses over time, to natural language processing (NLP) and natural language understanding (NLU) that accurately interpret user questions and match them to specific intents.
Yeah, no. The bolded-font claim is a complete load of crap, as a Media Research Center (MRC) study

The Boston Globe editorial board joined the chorus of legacy media outlets calling for President Joe Biden to step aside in the wake of his poor debate performance last Thursday.
“In the days since last week’s presidential debate, President Biden’s team has said little that adequately explains why his performance was historically bad, beyond that he had a cold,” the Globe editorial board wrote. “What we mostly heard instead was the closing of ranks around a beleaguered and wounded candidate.”

Democrat governors issued messages of support for President Joe Biden amid mounting concerns of Biden remaining the party’s presidential nominee after his debate performance.
Gov. Gavin Newsom (D-CA) and Gov. Gretchen Whitmer (D-MI) were among the governors who issued messages of support for Biden after having a call both virtually and in person with Biden and Vice President Kamala Harris. Other Democrat governors who had been on the call were Gov. Wes Moore (D-MD), Gov. Maura Healey (D-MA), Gov. Ned Lamont (D-CT), and Gov. Katie Hobbs (D-AZ). Washington, D.C. Mayor Muriel Bowser was also on the call, according to Deadline.

Kelvin Alvarenga, the grandfather to 12-year-old Jocelyn Nungaray who was sexually assaulted and murdered allegedly at the hands of two illegal aliens from Venezuela, says, “God bless” former President Donald Trump for reaching out to the family following the tragedy.
During last week’s presidential debate, Trump revealed that he had called the Angel Family that day to offer his condolences following Jocelyn’s murder. Angel Mom Alexis Nungaray said she was “shocked” when she got the call from the former president. In an interview with FOX26 Houston, Alvarenga expressed his gratitude to Trump for acknowledging the pain and suffering

None of this post-debate mess is a surprise to anyone with half a brain, functioning eyeballs, or any media member with a marginally functioning sense of integrity...I KID, I KID about that last one.
Because there doesn't seem to be any such creature. I have even seen people whose brains have been completely fried by the severest cases of TDS wince at the mutterings and wanderings of POTATUS, admitting through their discomfiture that the guy ain't all there, and hasn't been from the beginning.
But our media - woof. Now, we get to go through the kabuki theater of collective surprise by the very people who brought us

President Joe Biden and Vice President Kamala Harris joined a Democratic National Committee call on Wednesday and pledged that he would stay in the race.
“Let me say this as clearly as I possibly can, as simply and straightforward as I can: I am running . . . no one’s pushing me out,” Biden told staffers, according to Politico. “I’m not leaving. I’m in this race to the end and we’re going to win.”
Biden’s declaration that he will not leave the Democratic ticket comes as his campaign is scrambling to retain support among lawmakers in his party. While Representative Lloyd Doggett (D., Texas) is the only elected Democrat to call

The results of a new poll by the New York Times and Siena College were published Wednesday afternoon.
It's good news for former President Trump. Not so much for President Biden. Concerns over Biden's ability to govern rose to new heights.
Mr. Trump now leads Mr. Biden 49 percent to 43 percent among likely voters nationally, a three-point swing toward the Republican from just a week earlier, before the debate. It is the largest lead Mr. Trump has recorded in a Times/Siena poll since 2015. Mr. Trump leads by even more among registered voters, 49 percent to 41 percent.
Doubts about Mr. Biden’s age and acuity are widespread and growing.

It's on!
The Trump campaign has been uncharacteristically quiet since last week's presidential debate, in which Joe Biden came off with all of the intelligence, acumen, wit, and knowledge of a potted fern. Watching old Joe last week (and since) has been like watching a long row of dumpster fires being hit by a series of runaway train wrecks.
On Wednesday, Team Trump released a statement (written by campaign staffers Chris LaCivita and Susie Wiles) regarding Biden's (lack of) cognitive ability and the Democratic Party's malfeasance in keeping it as under wraps as they could.

I wasn’t surprised to see how badly President Joe Biden performed last week in his first debate showdown with former President Donald Trump.
The warning signs have been apparent for a long time, despite outright lies and denial from the White House and Biden advisers who’ve had the audacity to tell us that the president, 81, is A-OK.
But a lot of Americans probably haven’t paid as close of attention, and many of them were honestly surprised by the president’s physical and mental state.
I hope they’re paying attention now. And the latest polls make it seem like they are. I'll get to that in a bit.
