Well, well, well. It shouldn't surprise me, but it still kinda does. After losing half its readers and hundreds of millions of dollars, the Bezos-owned newspaper is radically shifting strategies. Sally Buzbee, the author of this absolute disaster, no doubt left under her own steam to spend more time with her family or something similarly false and anodyne-sounding. It certainly had nothing to do with the wreckage of a once-great and respected news outlet. Buzbee does leave a legacy to be proud of: she was the first female to lead the newspaper, proving that DEI hiring certainly has an impact to be proud of.

I would say that Bezos bought WaPo not because it is a good investment on its own, but because it is in a position where it can promote and favor Washington politicians, movements, and regulations that advance Amazon's business. By the same token, WaPo is in a position to criticize, attack, and embarrass politicians, movements, and regulators that would diminish or restrict Amazon's business. Recall that Amazon owns server farms that make enormous sums of money from the federal government--particularly the Defense Department. Bezos's Blue Origin is in direct competition with Elon Musk's Space X, which made some $3 billion last year from Defense and NASA contracts. As a quasi-monopoly expanding now into healthcare businesses, Amazon and Musk will have considerable regulatory oversight from Washington in coming years. The intimidation capacity of WaPo is enormous.

I grew up in northern Virginia -close enough to DC that the WaPooPoo and the -now long defunct- Washington Star were the daily papers- in the 1960's and '70's. As far back as I can remember, the PooPoo has been a Democ'RAT mouthpiece. It has always been more accurately described as a 'home team sports announcer for the Leftists' than an actual newspaper. The only useful purpose it has ever served, as far as I know, is as a liner for bird cages. As far as the words printed on the bird-liner paper, the PooPoo and the Noo Yawk Slymes share the role of outlets for deliberate 'leaks' of supposedly 'secret', 'classified', or 'confidential' information by some of the more -now unsavory- Government agencies, the PooPoo is the favored outlet for some, the Slymes is the favored outfit for some of the others. Both papers are nothing but Leftist propaganda and indoctrination, and have played a significant role in the destruction of the decent, patriotic America that normal people grew up with and loved.

President Biden will depart Tuesday night for France, where he will spend the rest of the week seeking to draw a sharp contrast in values and in global leadership with former President Trump, his 2024 political rival. Biden is set to commemorate the 80th anniversary of the D-Day invasion alongside other world leaders and deliver remarks focused on democracy and freedom, a major tentpole of his reelection bid. The president will cap off his visit with a stop at the same cemetery where Trump was unable to visit due to weather in 2018 and reportedly referred to those buried there as “losers” and “suckers,” comments Biden has repeatedly

Wilmington, Delaware — A highly anticipated moment in Hunter Biden’s criminal trial took place Tuesday afternoon when the prosecution introduced Hunter Biden’s laptop as evidence during the direct examination of an FBI agent. Federal prosecutor Derek Hines questioned FBI special agent Erica Jensen on the laptop and federal investigators’ process of verifying its data to prove the device and its contents are authentic before introducing exhibits from the laptop as evidence at trial. Jensen detailed how law enforcement obtained the laptop’s hard drive in fall 2019 after receiving a tip from a computer store.

A strike by Ukrainian forces on a Russian air-defense missile battery inside Russian territory was likely carried out using a U.S.-made weapons system, a leading American think-tank said Tuesday. The attack on the Russian S-300/400 battery north of Belogorod city about 25 miles from the Ukraine border over the weekend was probably conducted with a High Mobility Artillery Rocket System, the Institute for the Study of War said in a post on X. The Washington-based non-profit research group said the strike picked up on geolocation images of two destroyed launchers and a damaged air defense command post in a field near Kiselyovo village "was likely with HIMARS."

New Delhi — India’s transformative yet divisive Prime Minister Narendra Modi declared victory in national elections on Tuesday evening but his goal of winning an unassailable majority lies in tatters with early results showing voters delivered a shock result that reduces the extent of his party’s grip on power. “Today is a glorious day… National Democratic Alliance (NDA) is going to form the government for the third time, we are grateful to the people,” Modi told cheering supporters at his party headquarters in New Delhi, referring to the initials of his political alliance. “This is a victory for the world’s largest democracy.”

Ready for a war between NATO and Russia? NATO is getting ready for one, with the United States in the starring role. There has been a lot of talk over the past year about European countries arming up for a war with Russia. Generals have been talking about reinstituting the draft, politicians of upping defense spending, and limits on Ukraine's ability to strike into Russian territory with Western weapons lifted. What started out as a Western effort to bleed Russia dry in Ukraine (and let's face it, that is the primary reason Biden and European leaders poured so many weapons

Benjamin Netanyahu has something in common with Garth Brooks -- he has 'friends' in low places. In an interview with Time Magazine, Joe Biden addressed a number of issues, although just how much Biden addressed them may be up for some debate. Biden insists that he is one of Israel's greatest friends, and at least in the days after October 7, Biden appeared to have determination to act like a friend. These days, however, Biden's party has fractured on the war that Hamas started with those brutal massacres, rapes, and kidnappings. WASHINGTON — Facing mounting political pressure over the migrant influx at the U.S. southern border, President Joe Biden on Tuesday signed an executive order that will temporarily shut down asylum requests once the average number of daily encounters tops 2,500 between official ports of entry, according to a senior administration official. The shutdown would go into effect immediately since that threshold has already been met, a senior administration official said. The border would reopen only once that number falls to 1,500. The president’s order would come under the Immigration and Nationality Act sections 212(f) and 215(a) suspending entry of noncitizens who cross the southern border into the United States unlawfully.

Wilmington, Delaware — During his opening statement in Hunter Biden’s trial on Tuesday, prosecutor Derek Hines painted a damning picture of the life Hunter was leading around the time he allegedly illegally purchased a handgun in Delaware, telling jurors that they would be presented with “overwhelming evidence” that the first son was actively addicted to crack cocaine at the time and that he knew he was lying when he said otherwise on a federal gun-purchase background-check form. Drawing on Hunter’s own account of his struggles with addiction, laid out in his memoir, Beautiful Things, as well as text messages and photos obtained from his abandoned laptop,

If you want to know why the Department of Justice is doing everything it can to block Joe Biden's special counsel interview from seeing the light of day, the interview he just did with TIME provides all the reasoning necessary. Saying that this thing went off the rails might actually be too low-key. Perhaps I should have work-shopped the headline a bit more. Yeah, it's that bad, and the crescendo of the President of the United States challenging the interviewing reporter to a fight is proof enough of that. We'll get there, but let's start with this exchange on inflation, which TIME actually went back and fact-checked.

Just a few weeks ago President Biden said that he has done all he can to handle the southern border. He said his hands were tied. Only Congress can straighten out the mess he deliberately created on his first day in office. That is a lie, of course. The man who opened up the southern border through executive action is capable of reversing his executive actions. He knows it. He thinks you are stupid. The Biden border crisis is intentional. 5,084,568 illegal immigrants have crossed the southern border since Biden took office, according to CBP. There is no way to count the number of gotaways so that number isn't included.

It is bad enough when lawyers try to game the system in civil litigation. It is outrageous when the government does it to get home field advantage in criminal prosecutions, where the goal is to deny someone his/her freedom. Yet, that is exactly what the Department of Justice did recently, and was rightly called out for it. Isabella DeLuca was indicted in a case involving the Jan. 6 riot. The sooner he makes his pick, the sooner that individual can prepare for a vice-presidential debate, which could be held as soon as July. Still, Trump has kept people guessing, as he likes to do.
