WASHINGTON – President Joe Biden is catching up to former President Donald Trump’s polling lead, highlighting just how close the 2024 presidential election will be, according to a new poll from the New York Times and Siena College.
Trump leads Biden by just one percentage point with both men at 46% and 45% respectively. The survey is a significant boost for the incumbent president who has been lagging behind Trump in recent polling. An earlier New York Times and Siena college poll released in March saw Trump leading Biden by 5 percentage points at 48% and 43% respectively.
But Biden appears to be shoring up

The U.S. has flown in over 400,000 migrants from a host of countries since President Joe Biden took office, according to Customs and Border Protection (CBP).
Under the Biden administration’s CHNV program, some nationals hailing from Cuba, Haiti, Nicaragua and Venezuela can be eligible to come to the United States “in a safe and orderly way” and obtain humanitarian parole status, meaning they are here legally and can obtain work authorization. Over 400,000 migrants hailing from these nations have been flown into airports across the U.S. as of March, CBP said in a statement on Friday.

Joe Biden left for his beach house in Delaware on Friday, despite the threat of a potential attack on Israel by Iran hanging out in the wind. Before he left, his last public comment was to warn Iran, "Don't," then saying we would stand with Israel.[Snip] Now, it sounds like something may be up, because suddenly the word is that he's coming back to D.C. "White House says President Biden is returning to the White House from Rehoboth Beach, Del. this afternoon to consult with his national security team about events in the Middle East," Fox's Lucas Tomlinson announced.
Bloomberg's Jennifer Jacobs confirmed it, and said it was to "monitor" events.

A fair wage advocacy group is demanding that California’s new $20 minimum wage law for fast food workers be extended to all sectors to help working-class people who are struggling with the state’s high cost of living. (Snip) Fast food workers winning a $20 minimum wage, she said, “was just the beginning.” Jayaraman pointed to the exorbitantly high cost of living in the Golden State where, in some counties, an individual would need a $40 an hour salary to live comfortably. “People are leaving the state or are not having children, not having families. These are all the very basics

New York City has a serious and growing problem with empty office space. Between rising crime, high taxes, and the crazy rules of the pandemic a few years ago, people have fled the city in huge numbers.
Now the city is home to a record number of empty office buildings. The lack of revenue from these properties has got to be hurting the city’s bottom line and the policies of the current mayor are not helping.
Who would want to spend millions of dollars to open a new office in Manhattan right now?

New York police took custody of an unlicensed firearm belonging to anti-Trump activist E. Jean Carroll following a report from The National Pulse. (snip)
During the trial, Carroll informed the federal court in lower Manhattan that she kept the firearm, a “high standard revolver, nine chambers”, along with ammunition at her home, next to her bed. She also admitted to not possessing a firearm license. (snip)
Under NY state law, possession of an unregistered firearm can lead to a criminal possession charge with a maximum sentence of four years.

We've seen a lot of wild actions from the pro-Hamas crew.
But even by their standards, the actions employed by a woman at a Bakersfield, California, city council meeting were particularly unhinged. Riddhi Patel (who some media said identified as "non-binary") started off slow, saying she was there to push for a ceasefire resolution. She also spoke about some other issues. But it began to go downhill when she told the council they were "horrible people." Ordinarily, most people would know it's not a great idea to threaten people right to their faces at a city council meeting--on video and in front of

Former President Donald Trump gave House Speaker Mike Johnson a political lifeline Friday amid discontent with his leadership among conservatives in the House, saying, “I stand with the speaker, we’ve had a very good relationship."
After a week filled with political setbacks for both men, and as Trump faces the first of four potential criminal trials beginning Monday in Manhattan, two of the country's most powerful Republicans met at Mar-a-Lago to unveil voting legislation they hope will put Democrats on the defensive, even as critics say it’s based on a false premise.
Johnson is struggling to govern a fractious GOP caucus that has become increasingly disenchanted with his leadership,

About 2 1/2 years ago I wrote a post titled "California plans to kill the residential solar industry." At the time, I had just had solar panels installed on my roof to save money and within months California announced a new plan (Net Metering 3.0) that would have taxed me and anyone else who owned a rooftop solar system for owning the panels. I predicted that if this plan passed, California's rooftop solar industry would fall off a cliff.
The result of Net Metering 3.0 is likely going to be the end of the residential solar industry in California. I have a neighbor who was interested in possibly getting

On Friday’s broadcast of HBO’s “Real Time,” host Bill Maher said that it’s wrong to argue that pro-life people are sexist, and pro-lifers believe abortion is “murder, and it kind of is. I’m just okay with that. I am. There [are] 8 billion people in the world, I’m sorry, we won’t miss you. That’s my position on that.”
Provost of King’s College, Cambridge and Financial Times columnist Gillian Tett said that it’s odd that abortion is such a big political issue when there are other issues. Maher responded, “Well, not if you believe it’s murder. That’s why I don’t understand the 15-week thing or the — Trump’s plan is

Ahead of Iran launching dozens of drones towards Israel, President Joe Biden on Friday made clear the US would help defend its ally.
“We are devoted to the defense of Israel,” he said from the White House. “We will support Israel. We will help defend Israel and Iran will not succeed.”
The US has forces in Iraq and Syria that could potentially intercept drones en route to Israel, depending on the location from which they’re launched. US Navy forces in the Red Sea have previously intercepted long-range missiles launched from the Houthis in Yemen towards Israel.

An Islamic terrorist went on a stabbing rampage in a Sydney mall, killing at least six people and stabbing a nine-month-old baby in the process. There was little doubt of the motive given the attack happened outside an Israeli restaurant in a Jewish neighborhood. Clear pictures of the attacker have also been released along with several videos. At one point, the terrorist was confronted by a lone hero, holding him off from continuing to stab people with what appears to be a pole or a bat. A police officer arrived on the scene and dispatched the attacker, though it's unclear how long it took for the response to arrive. Unfortunately,
