Former President Donald Trump gave House Speaker Mike Johnson a political lifeline Friday amid discontent with his leadership among conservatives in the House, saying, “I stand with the speaker, we’ve had a very good relationship."
After a week filled with political setbacks for both men, and as Trump faces the first of four potential criminal trials beginning Monday in Manhattan, two of the country's most powerful Republicans met at Mar-a-Lago to unveil voting legislation they hope will put Democrats on the defensive, even as critics say it’s based on a false premise.
Johnson is struggling to govern a fractious GOP caucus that has become increasingly disenchanted with his leadership,

Unless Trump knows something I do not, I am very skeptical of Speaker Johnson. So many times Johnson could have held the line and did not. How do you in good conscious go along with anything that democrats want? This is not your granddaddy’s Political climate and requires severe pushback to save this country. Compromise, in my opinion, went out the window when democrats stole 2020. If a party is willing to do that, they are never to be trusted. How do you make a deal with the devil? You stand your ground and do not give an inch. Comity has lost its appeal when you deal with dishonest and destructive individuals bent on the total transformation of the country. How does evil triumph? When good men do nothing.

It's election year republicans have no choice but to stand with another fake republican..Johnson...like we held our noses & voted for McCain, Bush & Romney... Trump has no choice.. he can't go against Johnson. Jordan Or MTG would have been better choices.

FTA: "Johnson is struggling to govern a fractious GOP caucus that has become increasingly disenchanted with his leadership".
If Johnson would be the Christian he claims to be and QUIT LYING, he'd get a lot more respect...The Donald is wrong on this one.

I think for myself, but I don't have to work with traitors like Johnson. I don't stand with Johnson because Johnson doesn't stand with me. Maybe PDT thinks he can pull this speaker clown up; Johnson seems like a weak sellout to me. His struggle seems to be remaining loyal to Republican ideals; he's more of a leftist, if you ask me. After all the dirty dealing that goes on in Washington, how can we be expected to believe he doesn't quite know what to do?

The GOP has a one seat majority and the majority has in its ranks a number of undocumented democrats. Suck it up folks, we aren't going to get a speaker that we really like until we have a 20-30 seat majority. We get whoever can get a 50% plus 1 vote. And that certainly isn't MTG.

We the people are disenchanted with the republican house. If half of the 300 Spartans did not hold the line as one against the Persians they would have all died in the first attack but they persisted against an army of thousands. These people need to learn to work together, the one thing that the democrats do right because they have no such thing as DINOs. It doesn't matter who the Speaker is if he spends all of his time herding cats.

Our real president is walking a very fine line because it is election time. I think he will take care of things when he has the opportunity.

Trump has no choice but to support squishy Johnson. The establishment uniparty is trying to flip the House before a possible
Republican majority can take their seats next January. They are hell bent to prevent Trump from becoming President even if he is elected in a landslide. SCOTUS has done their squishy best to signal that it's up to Congress to determine if Trump can be denied based on the 14th Amendment, or other means.

#11, and I think that is why Donald Trump is a very good negotiator. Joe Biden, not a good negotiator at all. It can be all about timing and courage. I am reminded of the Serenity Prayer, "God, grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change, the courage to change the things I can, and the wisdom to know the difference."

Johnson ran to Trump to save him. And Trump made the mistake of doing it. I am tired of Trump mistakes. Johnson cast the deciding vote on warrantless FISA, choosing to vote with Biden --- again. Johnson needs to resign. I am done with Johnson. Where are those J6 tapes, Johnson? If you fight, you may lose. If you NEVER FIGHT, you always lose. The Republican never fight, and always lose. We are told we need to reform the Republican Party from within. Why? They will never fight. They will never use the power given to them. Maybe we need to take over the Democrat Party. They always fight.

Supporting the FISA reauthorization is a suicide mission. It was used to try to destroy Trump and needs to be ELIMINATED.
I think Trump is wrong on this one.

Trump has a habit of forcing people into the spotlight that need to be exposed. President Trump has the same look on his face when he stood behind Johnson as he did when he would stand behind Fauci.
