Rep. Ken Buck, R-Colo., who frequently defied his own party and announced last fall he would not seek re-election, said Tuesday he will resign from Congress at the end of next week, further shrinking the GOP's already razor-thin majority. "Today I am announcing that I will depart Congress at the end of next week," Buck said in a statement. "I look forward to staying involved in our political process, as well as spending more time in Colorado and with my family."
His departure will cut the House Republican margin to 218-213; Speaker Mike Johnson, R-La., will continue to have two votes to spare before needing Democrats to govern.

Sure makes you wonder.
e.g. would it be worth, say, $1m to the Democrats to reduce the GOP House margin until December.

They're not using the majority anyway.
How much did they pay you, Ken, or are you just a cheap whore?

Ken Buck is as ultra-conservative as Barry Goldwater was to the left of Stalin. This guy is trying to depict himself as virtuous and above the petty fray. If Buck were really concerned about the Republican Party, he would have waited until after the election. Now the lefty governor of Colorado will appoint a Democrat to replace him. Any real conservative should never speak to him again.

Unless there's a dire unreported situation that Buck is not disclosing, such as that he, his wife or a child is dying of a serious illness, this is totally self-indulgent and irresponsible.

June 25th is Colorado's congressional primary date. A vacant seat allows Democrat governor Polis to call an earlier special election. There are 11 GOP candidates lined up for that 4th district primary to replace Buck. Many of thhem are very good. One of the candidates, Lauren Boebert in the 3rd district is slated to switch to district 4, and was recently endorsed by PDJT. What this early resignation has done is set up a situation where Boebert would have to retire from 3rd district to run in the special election for 4th district. That's not going to happen. One of the very good candidates already in the 4th will win special election and Boebert will have to run against that new incumbent in the regular primary. Buck says Republicans are lying about the elections being fraudulent and has been defending the mistreatment of the Jan 6 political prisoners. His replacement will be greatly welcomed.

In my world...when you take a contract? You fulfill your end, even if it COSTS you something.
IF you are going to "resign" from an elected seat...the time to do it is enough before a state wide election, or primary, to allow your replacement to be ELECTED.

Retracting my comment that a special election is to be called before the primary. By law the Democrat governor should call a special election for no later than within 90 days of the General election. So the Republican district could possibly not have an election until late as August 5th, and then the SOS will delay the count and certification until forever. Buck is a scheming schmuck

Ya gotta wonder, why the Republican Party has so many traitors. Beyond being a rino. This guy is helping the Dems take control of congress. So they can ruin what is left of this country. Which republican is next?

Well, with the 'RATS controlling the Senate and the HairSniffer as pResident, nothing the Pubbies want is going to get passed anyway. About all they can do is block the more flagrant of the 'RATS efforts to destroy the country. As long as the Pubbies hold the majority, no matter how slim, they control the chairmanships, and the committee chairmen determine what gets discussed and investigated.
But I agree, this guy is a RAT..... or a DIRD (Democ'RAT In Republican Disguise.)

Republicans at 219, Democrats at 213, 3 vacancies. This is a numbers game. How many Republican Reps are there in Democrat run states?

Buck never voted with the Republicans, so his departure will reduce the number of Democrat votes.

This is a betrayal. Why are Republicans so prone to this kind of behavior? Democrats would never do this to their party. Buck is like so many Rinos who have absolutely no loyalty to their constituents or oath of office. Zero respect for the guy. You never give the enemy an advantage.

I have ten bucks that says at least two more Republican House member will resign/die in 2024 before the next election. This is a new Dem strategy to take over the House.
