Joe Biden and the war on truth

I had been told that Joe Biden, the president of the United States, would be delivering the 2024 State of the Union Address on Thursday, March 7. As it happened, he didn’t. Instead, he indulged in a surreal, medically enhanced species of primal scream therapy. This was laced with liberal dollops of what Freudians call “projection,” accusing his political opponents of stifling democracy when everyone outside the orbit of the state propaganda machine knows that the surveillance apparatus over which Biden presides — ex officio, at least — is a self-perpetuating machine for extinguishing democracy and its prime nutrient, frank commitment to the truth.

Hm. Post above prompted me to have a look at VRT Nieuws (Belgian Dutch-language news site). Rather uncharacteristically, they have nothing to say about Biden's SOU bloviating. As with most European news sites, their "US correspondents" are no more than passive mouthpieces living comfortably in Arlington or Manhattan who read the Washington Post and New York Times, then uncritically pass on what they've read to their home offices. That VRT has chosen to ignore Biden in this case is unusual.

I look forward to many more Samizdat Award winners in the future. The first three are more than deserving, putting their reputations, careers, and financial futures at risk ..Who knows what they and their families are continuing to endure.

Rep. BYRON DONALDS: We now know that Hunter Biden did bring Joe Biden to this dinner at Cafe Milano. It has been talked about in various deposition transcripts from Tony Bobulinski to Devin Archer. When we asked Hunter Biden, he couldn't recall. You have the text message famously about requesting money from Chairman Zhao. The money showed up a week later. Hunter Biden, under oath, said he was high, can't remember the text message. But photos

The President may be proud of “Bidenomics,” with its massive, seismic transformation in the size and scope of government, but to voters, it is raw pain. Like a runaway train that has smashed into a small town’s railyard, everywhere you look, no part of the life we knew remains as it was before. Our life plans – well-laid and requiring hard work with just a little luck – no longer fit. Every time we open our wallets and we are hit by these new, hard choices – delay our child’s braces, forgo our teen’s college contributions, and pray the minivan tires hold up another month. This daily struggle of millions

“This trial will not yield to the election cycle.” Those words of U.S. District Judge Tanya Chutkan last year made clear that she will not consider that Donald Trump will likely be the 2024 Republican presidential nominee in setting the schedule for his federal trial in Washington, D.C. Most recently, in the federal prosecution in Florida, Special Counsel Jack Smith declared that he will not consider himself bound by the Justice Department’s longstanding policy of not bringing charges or holding trials of candidates close to an election.

Voters in California's conservative Huntington Beach approved a measure that would restrict all non-government flags from being flown on city property, prompting backlash from LGBTQ advocates. Measure B, authored by Huntington Beach City Councilman Pat Burns, passed with more than half of the city's vote, according to the latest tally on the county's registrar website. The measure, for which voters cast their ballots on Super Tuesday, will prohibit breast cancer awareness, Pride, Confederate and all other non-U.S flags on city property. Burns told Fox News Digital in an interview that the measure was not meant to be discriminatory against any group, but

Whatley and Trump, the daughter-in-law of former President Donald Trump and wife of Trump’s son, Eric Trump, were elected on Friday by members of the RNC as the new chair and co-chair of the RNC. They replace now former chairwoman Ronna McDaniel and were supported by the former president, who just locked down the GOP presidential nomination this week

Just one day after President Biden delivered a State of the Union address many liberals said put to rest questions about his mental fitness, the president raised eyebrows with several gaffes in Pennsylvania. Biden visited Strath Haven Middle School in Delaware County on Friday for his first swing state campaign stop after outlining his agenda to a joint session of Congress. There, he pitched his plans for a second White House term, promising to protect abortion rights, defending his economic record and calling for new gun control laws. He also made some unforced errors in his speech, which were ridiculed by Republicans.

While President Biden might’ve touted an economic "comeback" in his State of the Union address Thursday night, Americans woke up Friday morning still feeling an inflationary hangover. "We're going to do groceries now. Every week we go and we spend about $300. I have not seen a change at all. On the contrary, like it's just going up," a diner named Iris told FOX Business’ Madison Alworth on "Cavuto: Coast to Coast." "We just got a letter at home saying the rent is going to go up. Our insurance just went up, so everything just keeps going up and up and up," she continued. "I haven't seen the difference in anything."

And yet, this achingly predictable outcome is suffused with intriguing questions that will continue to offer high drama and psycho-drama. Will Nikki Haley Endorse Trump? Haley never had a path to the nomination, but she definitely had plenty of well-heeled backers happy to fund the one Republican willing to attack Trump. After Tuesday’s thumping, she has finally thrown in the towel, though it’s not clear if she is listening to the people or whether the donors have abandoned her. At the State of the Union address this week, President Biden and the Democrats intend to leverage a tragic situation involving a woman who suffered a medical emergency during her pregnancy in order to advance their own abortion agenda. My heart goes out to this mother and any other mother experiencing a similar situation. It is heartbreaking to lose a child under any circumstances. But while President Biden exploits this tragedy for political gain, one critical piece of information you won’t hear during his address is that all state pro-life protections have provisions to protect mothers experiencing medical emergencies.

Donald Trump is marching into the general election in an enviable political position. The former president is leading President Joe Biden in most polls. He has shown a potential to broaden his coalition with Black and Hispanic voters. And he doesn’t face the same type of scrutiny about his age that the president confronts on a regular basis. After sweeping through almost every Super Tuesday Republican contest on Tuesday night, Trump exhibited the type of swagger befitting a candidate with a real shot of winning the White House in eight months time. “They call it Super Tuesday for a reason,” Trump said on stage at Mar-a-lago, flanked by American flags.

The obstacle course facing President Biden this week during Thursday’s belated State of the Union address presents a formidable challenge. It may prove difficult for the 81-year-old president to navigate. Expectations could not be lower. Biden faces the usual challenges of exaggerating his paltry policy wins, justifying his substantial missteps and attacking his political opponents. But those questions may be overshadowed by more basic ones. Can he make it from start to finish gaffe-free? Will we be able to understand his words? Will this be one of the shortest addresses ever? Will he even be able to find his way off the stage?

Americans sprang forward Sunday in the controversial annual tradition of daylight saving time, prompting over a dozen senators to re-up their push to “lock the clock” and make the change permanent. “We’re ‘springing forward’ but should have never ‘fallen back.’ My Sunshine Protection Act would end this stupid practice of changing our clocks back and forth,” Sen. Marco Rubio (R-Fla.) said last week as he renewed his efforts to end the practice. Back in 2022, a bill sponsored by Rubio — the Sunshine Protection Act of 2021 — cleared the Senate via unanimous consent. Several senators later indicated they didn’t realize what they were supporting at the time

Was Taylor Swift at the State of the Union speech and I just didn't notice? We've probably already spent too much time dissecting Joe Biden's rendition of "Angry Old Man Yells at Clouds," but the reality is that there were a lot of people watching that speech. Viewership was up a whopping 18% as compared to last year's SOTU, with more than 32 million people tuning in. That doesn't necessarily translate to good news for Biden as we'll discuss in a moment, but it was a welcome sign for the news networks. Viewership wasn't evenly divided among the networks, however. Texas governor Greg Abbott has turned the screw on the Biden administration by barring federal agents from one of the hottest flashpoints on the southern border. The White House was already demanding the Supreme Court allow it to rip down miles of razor wire the state government has strung across a 29-mile section of the border around Eagle Pass. Now the Texas National Guard has barred Border Patrol agents entirely from the 2.5-mile section of Shelby Park and defiantly stationed its military vehicles at the entrance to block access. 'That is not a decision that we agreed to,' Eagle Pass Mayor Rolando Salinas wrote as he reported the show of force on Facebook.

Biden has never made a secret of his hatred for Bibi Netanyahu (and it’s easy to see why a stupid, draft-dodging man would hate an intelligent, accomplished warrior). Still, he’s now taking that hatred to new levels as he actively works to interfere in Israeli politics. For decades, leftists told us that it was morally wrong to try to affect a nation’s internal politics, but that doesn’t apply when the nation is a liberal democratic ally…and the world’s only Jewish state. The New York Intelligencer reported on sources saying that Biden intends to overthrow Netanyahu, the democratically elected president of a U.S. ally (emphasis mine):
