Former GOP presidential primary candidate and Vice President Mike Pence urged Congress to pass a bill that could ban TikTok in the U.S.
“The era of appeasing the Chinese Communist Party is over,” Pence said in a thread on X, the platform formerly known as Twitter. “Politicians claiming to be ‘tough on China’ while simultaneously supporting TikTok spewing CCP-sanctioned propaganda across the world are wrong. China is poisoning the minds of American children. Enough is enough. “Congress should pass legislation forcing the sale of TikTok as soon as possible, and President Biden must immediately sign it into law,” Pence continued in the thread.

The U.S. Justice Department has opened a criminal investigation into the Boeing (BA.N), opens new tab 737 MAX blowout on an Alaska Airlines (ALK.N), opens new tab flight in January, the Wall Street Journal reported on Saturday, citing documents and people familiar with the matter.
The investigators have contacted some passengers and crew on the Jan. 5 flight, which made an emergency landing in Portland, Oregon, after a fuselage panel ripped off midair, WSJ said. The investigation would inform the DOJ's review of whether Boeing complied with an earlier settlement that resolved a federal investigation following two fatal 737 MAX crashes in 2018 and 2019,

A great deal hinged on Joe Biden's performance during Thursday evening's State of the Union address. The White House knew more than anything that Biden had to dispel concerns regarding his age and cognitive decline. Naturally, the mainstream media did its part to help in shore up this narrative affirming Biden's presidential competence, and wound up choosing the same entry from the thesaurus to characterize his delivery: "fiery."
I'm sure it was just a coincidence.
But, it didn't work for those of us who saw and heard Biden's loud and angry delivery, which was punctuated by constant slurring and slip ups.

A United Airlines flight rolled off the runway at a Houston airport Friday morning, the airline said in a statement.
The Boeing 737 plane had landed at George Bush Intercontinental Airport around 8 a.m. when it rolled onto the grass as it exited the runway for the gate, United and Houston Airports and Houston Spaceport said in separate statements. The flight, which left from Memphis International Airport, had 160 passengers and six crew members on board. Passengers deplaned on the taxiway and were bused to the terminal.
No one on board was injured.

An investigation by the Department of Defense into UFO sightings found no evidence to support the possibility of extraterrestrial life.
The Pentagon published a report on Friday by its All-domain Anomaly Resolution Office (AARO) reviewing 80 years of UFO sightings and concluded there is no evidence UFO sighting reflected the existence of alien life.
“AARO found no evidence that any USG investigation, academic-sponsored research, or official review panel has confirmed that any sighting of a UAP represented extraterrestrial technology,” the DoD report summarizes. Unidentified Anomalous Phenomena (UAP) is the technical term used to classify UFOs.

Houston — Donald Trump wasted little time putting his imprint on the Republican Party just days after becoming its presumptive presidential nominee.
At the Republican National Committee’s spring meeting here Friday, members elevated Trump’s endorsed candidates – North Carolina GOP chairman Michael Whatley and the former president’s daughter-in-law, Lara Trump – to serve as the organization’s new chair and co-chair, respectively.
The two were elected to succeed outgoing RNC chairwoman Ronna McDaniel and RNC co-chairman Drew McKissick. Neither faced any challengers Friday.

Pound sand, y'all. That's my interpretation of how Houston Mayor John Whitmire handled a demand from the city's Mulsim community. Houston Muslim leaders issued a 24-hour deadline to the mayor in their demand that he call for a ceasefire in the Israel-Hamas war. There was a Thursday 5:00 p.m. deadline for the mayor to call for a ceasefire and Mayor Whitmire did not meet that deadline. More than 40 Muslim Imams and organizations threatened to boycott the city's annual Ramadan dinner. And, they threatened to remove their support. They said if he did not meet their demand Whitmire would lose audiences, business partners, and also votes.

West Texas oil billionaires Tim Dunn and Farris Wilks entered the 2024 primary election cycle wounded.
Their political network was in the middle of a scandal over its ties to white supremacists. Republicans were calling on each other to reject the billionaires’ campaign money. And their enemies believed they were vulnerable — one bad election day from losing their grip on the state.
Instead, Dunn and Wilks emerged from Tuesday perhaps stronger than ever — vanquishing old political foes, positioning their allies for a November takeover of the state Legislature, and leaving little doubt as to who is winning a vicious civil war to control the state party.

The Washington State Legislature, in a historic move, has green-lit three citizen-driven initiatives covering police pursuits, a ban on income taxes, and a K-12 parental rights manifesto. On Monday, March 4, Initiative 2081 was among the trio approved by lawmakers, now set to transform into state law without the need for the governor's autograph, effective early June, following a customary 90-day post-session enactment period, as reported by the Kirkland Reporter.
Washington has witnessed history make its mark as such a legislative trifecta hasn't been observed since 1995, and before that, on barely a handful of instances within a century, per Kirkland Reporter. Backing for these initiatives included fiscal

Texas voters delivered a stinging rebuke on Super Tuesday to incumbent Republicans who stonewalled Gov. Greg Abbott’s (R-TX) efforts to enact school choice in the Lone Star State. It is a message Republicans everywhere should hear.
In the primary races for seats in the Texas House of Representatives, 10 Republican incumbents who helped block school choice legislation were either defeated outright or now face runoff elections.
The results are a vindication for the governor, who took the unusual step of endorsing challengers to sitting lawmakers of his own party. Next year, Texas will probably become the most populous in the nation with universal school choice.

Progressive Democrats are furious at President Joe Biden for accurately describing the man suspected of murdering 22-year-old nursing student Laken Riley.
Biden addressed Riley’s death during his State of the Union address Thursday evening after he was heckled by Representative Marjorie Taylor Greene (R., Ga.) and misstated her name in the process.
“Lincoln (sic) Riley, an innocent young women who was killed by an illegal, that’s right,” Biden said while holding up a pin with her name on it. “To her parents I say, my heart goes out to you having lost children myself, I understand,” he added.
Progressive lawmakers led by Representative Ilhan Omar (D., Minn.) objected

Capitol Police arrested Gold Star father Steve Nikoui — whose son, Lance Corporal Kareem Nikoui, lost his life in the Abbey Gate bombing during the U.S. withdrawal from Afghanistan — during President Joe Biden’s State of the Union address Thursday night.
“Tonight at approximately 10:15 p.m., a man disrupted the State of the Union Address by yelling,” Capitol Police said in a statement provided to NR. “Our officers told him to stop and when he did not, the man was removed from the House Galleries and was arrested for D.C. Code § 22–1307 – Crowding, Obstructing, or Incommoding. Disrupting the Congress and demonstrating in the Congressional Buildings is illegal.
