Several CBS News reporters were caught up in layoffs at Paramount Global that claimed 800 jobs, including one who is embroiled in a high-stakes First Amendment fight — and another who has reportedly weathered HR probes over his workplace behavior, The Post has learned.
Catherine Herridge — an award-winning senior correspondent whose First Amendment case is being closely watched by journalists nationwide — was among the hundreds of employees at CBS parent Paramount who got pink slips on Tuesday, sources told The Post. The carnage provoked outrage from the rank-and-file at CBS, with some focusing their ire on Paramount Global CEO Bob Bakish

Too bad they didn't dump Pelley and O'Donnell, whose salaries are probably more than the 800 combined.

This is the very reason the "News" is dying a self inflicted death.
NOT A SINGLE DROP OF BLOOD WAS INVOLVED!
"Bloodbath"??
I am a bit biased, nearly my entire working life has been in "Construction", if you DO your job? You will soon need another Job.I have skills, I have a Profession. People pay me to do things, they pay other people to do other things...but I have actually BLED on every single project I have ever taken part in. When a job is done, we slap a few backs, shake a few hands...and promise to see each other "Down the road someday".
Nobody intentionally builds something, or does something to lose money on it...except Govt.

I’m no fan of the MSM but I understand the antipathy towards Paramount CEO Bob Bakish. Yes, the lay-offs are probably justified, even necessary, for the company’s survival (they are probably readying CBS for sale) and yes, the CEO is probably a seasoned and highly effective executive but it is heartbreaking to see low level employees brought to desperation while the few who sack them make off like bandits. When Paramount produces woke socialist propaganda remember Bakish et al.

I'm not sure what percentage of their total employment that represents but it's 100% of their journalists.

See BS is a sinking ship. Catherine will find a secure work environment at Newsmax or Fox.

Let's look at the underlying reason...it can't be money...they made a huge profit on the Super Bowl...there's something cooking under the covers here...I'll figure it out!!

"Bloodbath?" HA! Only in Liberal Land does a 3% layoff constitute a "bloodbath." In the industry I worked in for over 30 years, the "norm" during our almost annual layoffs would be 10-15%, usually executed in the November/December timeframe for a nice "holiday" touch. Tens of thousands of jobs would be whacked at one fell swoop without "parachutes," or "golden handshakes." Merely 3% is considered a "minor realignment."

Oh Boo-de-Hoo-Hoo!
I remember back in the '70's and '80's when General Motors was laying off auto workers 100,000 at a time. The Media snobs were pretty unconcerned..... after all, it was not THEIR families who were looking at losing their home and no money for groceries!
Now, as #14 points out, a THREE PERCENT staff reduction is a so-called 'BloodBath'.... I say Call 'em a WAAAMMbulance!
Now... what to do with the unfortunate 3%?
No use learning to code.... that trade is also laying people off.
No use trying to learn masonry, carpentry, plumbing, electrician..... that involves WORK!
No use trying to learn auto mechanics..... that involves WORK, AND requires BRAINS!
I know!
They can call go work for the HairSniffer's campaign!
That way, they can continue telling the same lies they have been telling all along, and with all his profits from his foreign dealings combined with the 'contributions' from his Deep State and Big Media handlers, the HairSniffer should have plenty of cash on hand.
