Early Wednesday morning, a resident of West Miami-Dade County experienced a harrowing encounter with would-be thieves that underscores the rise in catalytic converter thefts. This is one of the most overlooked crimes that grew in frequency during the COVID-19 pandemic.
Fortunately, the victim was armed and was able to fight off a pair of thieves trying to steal the catalytic converter from his vehicle. Here’s how the confrontation went down:
Miami-Dade Police Det. Andre Martin said a resident was in his home when he heard power tools in the parking lot.
The resident saw two people under his vehicle trying to remove the catalytic converter, so he armed himself

President Biden finally found a hole in his schedule.
It's been a full 67 days since eight Americans were taken hostage by Hamas terrorists during the October 7 massacre in Israel. Since that day, Biden has taken multiple trips to his home in Rehoboth Beach, Delaware, and even squeezed in a long Thanksgiving trip to Nantucket.
Unlike vacationing, finding time to meet with the hostage families was clearly not a priority for the president. He came under fire recently for not inviting the families to a White House ceremony marking the season of Hanukkah, despite a request by the families to be included in the event.

On Wednesday, the Supreme Court agreed to hear the appeal brought by a man charged with obstructing an official proceeding relating to the events at the Capitol on January 6th, 2021. The plaintiff in this case, Joseph Fischer, petitioned the Supreme Court to hear his case and asked for a dismissal of the "obstructing an official proceeding" charge as it related to the certification of the election, which declared Joe Biden the winner.
At the heart of the Fischer v. U.S case is 18 U.S.C. 1512(c)(2), which makes it a crime to "corruptly...otherwise obstructs, influences, or impedes any official proceeding[...]."

Two things are true: One, former President Donald Trump's polling -- nationally, in key swing states, and in the first-voting state of Iowa -- has never been better. And two, Jack Smith, the special counsel appointed by the Biden Justice Department to prosecute Trump, is taking self-described "extraordinary" measures in a rush to put Trump on trial before the 2024 presidential election. The two things are not unrelated. And nothing could more effectively illustrate the contrast between Trump's rising political fortunes and the administration's effort to imprison him before the election.
Start with the Iowa polling. The new Des Moines Register poll, considered quite reliable,

It didn't take long after Maya Kowalski won $261 million in damages from Johns Hopkins All Children's Hospital for another hospital to jump headfirst into the frying pan. Children's Healthcare of Atlanta is currently in the hot seat after taking custody of baby Emma Hernandez when her mother brought her in for a swollen leg. Only three months old at the time in June, Emma needed medical care and got a criminal investigation instead. Jeff Charles at RedState has the story.

Trying to play both sides in a fight is always dangerous. This is especially true when the lines between sides are clearly delineated. Now is the time for every individual, every organization, and every country to take a stand in the war against the evil of Hamas, terrorism, and hate. Do we side with Israel, whose IDF has correctly been called “the most moral army in the history of the world” and who has for over 70 years attempted to make “land for peace” deals to bring lasting peace to the Middle East? Or do we side with Hamas, a terrorist organization that in its own charter of 1988

According to a recent Rasmussen Reports poll, over 20% of people who used mail-in ballots admitted breaking at least one law in the 2020 election.
The poll involved 1,085 likely voters. The margin of error is +/- 3 with a 95% confidence level.
FACT-O-RAMA! Whiny leftist milksops screamed that Donald Trump's 2016 election victory over Hillary Clinton was the result of Russian interference, somehow involving $100,000 worth of Facebook ads, most of which didn't involve the election at all and focused more on lefty, neo-commie ideology. The same chicken hearts assured us the 2020 election was the cleanest in history.

Israel has begun the process of flooding the network of tunnels beneath Gaza in an effort to flush out the impacted Hamas assets lodged there, according to U.S. officials who spoke to the Wall Street Journal. The Israeli military operation has so far involved the installation of seven massive pumps and testing the process of flooding the Hamas holes with water from the Mediterranean Sea, and now the great enema has begun in earnest.
"Israeli officials say that Hamas’s underground system has been key to its operations on the battlefield," explains WSJ. "The tunnel system, they say, is used by Hamas to maneuver fighters across the battlefield

More than 200 Delta passengers were forced to spend the night on a chilly and remote Canadian military base after their Detroit-bound plane made an emergency landing due to a mechanical issue.
Delta flight 135 from Amsterdam to Detroit was diverted to Goose Bay, Newfoundland Sunday afternoon “out of an abundance of caution,” a spokesperson for the airline told reporters.
The plane ran into a problem with its de-icing mechanism for one of its engines and needed to make an emergency landing somewhere with an airstrip long enough to accommodate the large aircraft, passengers told CBS Evening News.

San Francisco Supervisor Dean Preston claimed the city’s homelessness problems were “absolutely the result of capitalism,” and it was “counterproductive” to arrest people openly doing drugs.
Preston’s District 5 includes the Tenderloin District, an area known for its open-air drug market. Nearly half of the city’s homeless population lived in this district in 2022, the San Francisco Chronicle reported.
The Democratic Socialist supervisor argued his district was particularly affected by homelessness because of the country’s economic structure.
“I think what you’re seeing in the Tenderloin is absolutely the result of capitalism and what happens in capitalism to the people at the bottom rungs,”

John Kerry’s call to end all coal-powered electricity generation is “silly” and “self-destructive,” writes former Speaker of the House Newt Gingrich, and “makes the United States look delusional.”
In his punchy essay, Gingrich insists that it is “not hyperbole or exaggeration” to call John Kerry “crazy,” since the word crazy means “marked by thought or action that lacks reason.”
Mr. Kerry’s failing mental state was on full display during his recent “emotional speech” to the United Nations Climate Change Conference, where he made a plea to “end all coal burning power plant construction in the entire world.”

I’m not on TikTok, and I recommend you delete your account if you are (or your kid’s accounts, if they have them). If you don’t think you can live without it you can cut out the middleman and send all your personal data to the Chinese consulate (or reach out to Eric Swalwell’s office and ask for Fang-Fang’s number, same difference). But putting aside the communists who run it, there’s a big problem with the communists who use it – many of them are teachers, and a disturbing percentage of them are mentally unstable.
This isn’t just about TikTok, it’s about academia.
