The director of Disney’s latest flop, The Marvels, Nia DaCosta, is blaming hateful sexist, misogynists for the massive box office failure.
What is probably really upsetting Ms. DaCosta is that more men than women bought tickets to the film. Women, like me, are not at all interested in paying for a film starring macho women.
No thanks, Disney. Real women like strong men, even fake ones portraying superheroes.
The more I read about the antics of the hysterical Karens or view the sickening videos of moronic exhibitionists on TikTok, the more convinced that I am a female chauvinist.

I like a good strong woman character, but she has to grow and be believable. Characters like Ripley from Alien, Sarah Connor from The Terminator, Princess Leia from Star Wars and even Wonder Woman didn't show up on the screen fully developed as Strong Women. No, they went through problems, had real emotions and were never the annoying Girl Boss character that Captain Marvel, Rey from Star Wars and just about every other female character is. I don't watch contemporary super hero movies anymore partially because of this.

Woke movie makers think their personal fantasy world matches real life. That is why they can't make a decent fantasy movie that anyone can relate to.
That, plus no talent.

I gave up on the MCU after the avenger's finale. It was ok although even more highly contrived than the rest of the movies but full of fun pew pew pew zot bong cgi so I enjoyed it enough.
After that the characters, plots, etc took a huge dive. I saw 2-3 and stopped. When I saw the trailer for this one I was so turned off I don't think I'll even bother when it comes to Netflix or Prime for free. I had to look up 2 of the characters to even know who was in it. Super woke nonsense.
Marvel lost it. Just like Star Wars and everything else popular, they can't resist woking the shows well past the point where normal people can still enjoy them, and kill the golden goose.
Disney at their finest.

Nia. You and your colleagues have been deluded into thinking that Disney has some purpose other than making money. So why don't you get off your high horse, come down from your pulpit, and get back to work making a movie that we racist bigots will actually go to. Else you and all the rest of your moralizing 'sisters' will be unemployed. Unless begging for public assistance is really the job you're looking for.

Ms. Colon speaks for, I would bet, the majority of women. Tearing down men will not elevate women. It makes those that do so look petty, mean and even jealous.
Like most matters in today’s world, abandoning what God intends leads to misery and confusion. Young women fall prey to the siren call of feminists because it speaks to their egos. It’s all about their empowerment. There is a strict ideology that must be followed. Being a full time mom and mother is “less than” in the feminist view and society is not better off because of it.
We have had decades to compare the two paths and it is evident that one is superior when it comes to rearing children and having a good marriage. Men are certainly not exempt from criticism. Many have abandoned their responsibilities in life to pursue pleasure. Sadly, the Sixties created a false narrative in favor of free sex that we are paying for today. We have become an hedonistic society that believes everything goes and it not working in so many ways that is destroying the family which is the foundation of society.

Please enjoy this top-notch column, from a top-notch columnist! It's a refreshing and sensible take on 'modern' feminism', trans malarkey and media bias. I really enjoyed the insight into our beloved founder Lucianne Goldberg. I have spent nearly 25 years here, learning at the feet of the inspired and well-informed, and enjoying a community of thoughtful and sympathetic souls.

One small part of the delusional feminist mantra................... said by Ann Richards, ... " Ginger Rogers did everything think Fred Astaire did. She just did it backwards and in high heels " Self serving lies. How many solo dances did Ginger do in all of their 10 films? NONE. He did all of them.

What is saddest to me is not so much that impressionable young women bought the feminist delusion but that men fell in line also. I have wondered for years where our real men are. They should be down on the border with weaponry or protecting girls on subways or breaking heads at Antifa riots or confronting other men who lie to gain access to girl’s and women’s sports and locker rooms. I’m with Alicia. When I was still a Stridex and Dippity Doo using high schooler I babysat and worked as a Rexall drug store clerk. I paid for that $20 Maidenform with my own money and no way was it going to burn because Gloria Steinem said so. I love men too and am so tired of being disappointed by displays of spiritlessness on their part, their implied acceptance of radical feminism and their consequent refusal to lead with integrity.

Thank you, Alicia! Your wonderful tribute to our hostess makes me miss her more than ever. She was a needleworker, as am I, and we exchanged numerous emails chatting about our passion.
When I was a stay at home mom, women used to ask me if I worked and my response was always, “Yes. I have the most important job on the planet. Raising the next generation.” It usually left them gaping.

I spent 5 years in the USAF and ended up supervising a flight line crew that were all men. I was never disrespected. I did my job right beside them. In later years I was asked why I wasn’t a ‘women’s libber’. I explained that I was already liberated without their help. Men and women both play a role and it works out well if it’s understood.

Great article! Alicia’s attitude needs to be shouted from the rooftops. Ever see a feminist’s face when a woman stands up for men? It’s priceless.
#4, I hear you. I have always felt that way, until the Obama’s came along. Now they get the top spot.
#10, THANK YOU. I’ve always thought that Ginger Rodger’s quote was in poor taste, and it really lowered my opinion of her. The fact is, and Ms. Rodgers knows this, is that standard choreography usually starts with the right foot. With partner dancing, the steps are taught facing front, and then when you partner up, it is men that have to do everything backwards, as they must start with the left foot.

I have always loved to read Alicia Colon's essays, and this one is no exception. Since I discovered Lucianne.com many years ago, Mrs. Colon has been featured many times, and has commented a number of times, also. Everything she says is so sensible and just correct. Hearing more about Lucianne Goldberg is always good. Her site has been my place to go most mornings for many years to read the news and hear comments from 'friends' whose faces I have never seen, but whose screen names are very familiar.
Too bad there's no way to meet some of the esteemed posters on Lucianne.com in person. I think I'd enjoy a dinner with many of them.
And my wife agrees exactly with Mrs Colon's views here:
"Women do not belong in combat and should only become cops and firefighters if they are as physically large and fit as men. Lowering the entry requirements in male dominated industries to accommodate women only harms the effectiveness of those jobs."
Never lower your standards for any job to accommodate some special interest group. Set standards of performance as required to get excellence in the JOB, and let the chips fall where they may. I wonder how many people weren't able to be rescued from a burning building by an affirmative action fireman who was a woman and not physically able to carry them out? My wife has pointed out, correctly that women police officers will have to "go to guns" far sooner in any physical confrontation with a large man than a physically large male officer would need to. Probably lives have been lost because a female officer had to shoot an offender, where a male officer may have been able to physically restrain him without shooting.
The one exception to the "no women in combat" idea is military aircraft. Assuming no lowered standards of admission, not necessarily true today, women of equal ability can fly and fight a modern aircraft as well and easily as a man, physical strength isn't a major factor there with powered controls. Similarly, drone operators or various technical jobs like missile operators or radar operators can be equally well done by women or men. But for most combat jobs on the ground, less physically capable individuals will get people killed.
I love Alicia Colon.

I found her comments on the feminist movement most enlightening.
Recently we heard of hundreds of women raped, tortured, and murdered. Yet many feminists were strangely silent. It leads a person to ask what do they really stand for. First and foremost, they seem to stand for hatred and division. If they condone violence and murder, they won't be much different than Hamas. They all seem to have a cause, but one realizes it is just meaningless words for them. Just like the 'Palestinian' groups that don't really support 'Palestinians', you have feminist groups that don't really support women.
As for Disney, they have always seemed to go through cycles though the current cycle kind of looks permanent. Anyone remember the Disney movie 'The Black Hole'? Disney's only attempt that I recall into science fiction. Totally awful movie.

You can't just make a movie anymore that entertains. It's all judged now on what the gender is of the actors, writers, and directors. When you only see gender, the blame has to fall with the targeted gendered audience when it turns out it sucks. Just make 10 more Deadpools.

I graduated high school in '72 at the height of the hysteria with NOW's Gloria and Betty Friedan. Unfortunately, my first two "love affairs" ended badly and I was drawn to feminism like a bee to a flower. I was mouthy about it, too. When I look back, I'm ashamed of my behavior. It's a wonder TK fell in love with me the first time, and a miracle he came back for me eight years later! Thank the Lord I had grown up in those intervening years!
The just consequences of feminism and all things springing from "progressivism" are coming to their just ends, which is destruction. It is a great sorrow and pity because we may be past the point of no return. The pivot may yet be the election next year...if we can make it. Donald Trump is the quintessential American male and is gathering like men around him, along with strong American women. It is again the time of choosing; to speak against evil and act against evil where ever encountered in ways small or large. In God We Trust.

A quibble: The group with Gloria Steinem, et al, was the National Organization FOR Women, not of women.
I married in 1976. At that time, every married couple was working out their relationship ad hoc, since so many of us did not want marriage as our parents had modeled it. When we bought the idea that women could have it all, soon we were required to do it all. Husbands expected wives to be employed, and they still expected wives to do the bulk of household chores and child-rearing. Men retreated from their roles as the head of the household, and they withdrew from leadership within their own homes.
Single women were "liberated" to have casual sex, and soon it became a social requirement rather than a personal choice. Men were attracted to "liberated women" because they perceived opportunities for casual sex.
I don't miss the '70s.
