Minnesota has its first-ever Somali-American mayor. Winning in all but one of St. Louis Park’s 12 precincts, Nadia Mohamed won by more than 1,300 votes – also becoming the city’s first Black mayor. Making history in the west metro city is not new for Mohamed. When she was elected to the St. Louis Park City Council in 2019, she was the first Muslim, Somali-American, and youngest person to ever be elected to the council. (snip) After the results were official, following jubilation by the dozens of supporters..

mis-leading headline.. should be ST LOUIS PARK city.. this has a 38% JEWISH POPULATION.. it is one of the wealthiest (and liberal) cities in MN.. i would bet that the 38% were out HARVESTING votes for this person..

Akron, Ohio, also elected a Muslim mayor. Of course, he's a Democrat. He ran unopposed in Tuesday's election because the only Republican who wanted the job didn't submit the required 50 valid signatures. Of the 70 he turned in, only 43 were ruled valid. There really is no excuse for not getting enough signatures. I'm not sure, but I believe that Akron is now the largest U.S. city with a Muslim mayor. For the record, he won the Democratic primary in May by pushing an anti-police agenda.

5 EYEWITNESS NEWS looked at city payroll records and found between 2020 and 2022, the Minneapolis Police Department had 273 officers leave their jobs. During that same three-year time period, the city hired 117 new officers, which equates to a net loss of 156 officers and an average net loss of 52 officers over the last three years. If that trend were to continue, MPD would have fewer than 400 sworn officers. As recent as 2019, MPD had about 900 sworn officers on its payroll.
