A new branch of oncology, cancer neuroscience,

Cancer cells hijack normal biological processes, allowing them to multiply. For example, tumors spur construction of new blood vessels, building themselves “highways” to supply nutrients. Researchers have known about cancer’s blood vessel infiltration for decades, but it was only in the past few years that Stanford Medicine scientists and their colleagues discovered that tumors don’t just tap the body’s highway system; they can also infiltrate and exploit its “telecommunications. ”To put it in physiologic terms, tumors don’t just grow blood vessels; they also wire themselves into the nervous system.

The cure for cancer will never be revealed unless it accidentally escapes the lab. Too many foundations, careers, and fortunes at risk.

If I recall, when physicians are diagnosed with cancer, less than 40-percent of them opt for the traditional cut, burn and poison method of battling the disease. Instead, they choose alternative treatments. That speaks volumes about the practitioners who work in the mainstream medical industry -- and it is an industry.

Lansing — Michigan could become the third state to ban the declawing of cats under a bill introduced Thursday in the state Legislature. House Bill 4674, sponsored by Rep. Jimmie Wilson, Jr., D-Ypsilanti, would ban the common practice except for "therapeutic" purposes, which would not include protecting against damaged household furniture or other scratches. New York and Maryland have already banned cat declawing as cruel and unnecessary, said Leaha Skylar Dotson, Wilson's legislative and policy director. "There's a lot of misconception that we're just trimming off the nail," Dotson said.

My toddler, Wheeler, will probably not live to adulthood. Juvenile Batten disease — he has the type known as CLN3 — is stealing his childhood. And then this rare disease will steal my child. Wheeler is missing the DNA needed to recycle a waste product called lipofuscin that his cells naturally produce. As lipofuscin builds up, his condition will get worse, robbing him of his eyesight, his speech, his mobility, and ultimately his life. Our only hope is finding a treatment to cure, or at least a way to slow down this unrelenting disease.

The Environmental Protection Agency halted shipments of toxic waste from the site of a recent train derailment in East Palestine, Ohio, to Wayne County amid outrage from Michigan officials. The Michigan Department of Environment, Great Lakes, and Energy announced the pause Friday evening, following several statements and news conferences by local officials criticizing lack of communication on the process. The train derailment occurred when a Norfolk Southern train crashed on Feb. 3, spilling hazardous chemicals and killing thousands of wildlife in the surrounding ecosystem.

“Are you anti-mask?” “Are you anti-vax?” “Are you anti-science?” Employees of Levi Strauss & Co repeatedly pummeled me with these questions during 2020-2022, when I was the company’s brand president. Why? I advocated in defense of children: against the masking of toddlers, against closed playgrounds and youth sports, for open public schools. I’m not exactly sure what an anti-science person is. But that’s not me. I’m pro-science. And that’s why I’m anti-mask.

Macomb County Sheriff's deputies responded to a call for a safety check on a driver pulled off to the side of the road, only to find a man in need of some emotional support. Deputies found the man, referred to by authorities by the pseudonym "Joe," on the side of a quiet road overcome by tears. Joe was on his way to work when he decided to pull off the road because he was feeling overwhelmed by stress, according to the Macomb County Sheriff's Office. In bodycam footage of the interaction, one deputy is heard asking him what they can do to help, Joe responds, "I could use a hug."

Following all the lunacy of the last two days revolving around the leaked draft decision overturning Roe v. Wade, the White House let the president out of the basement on Wednesday. What transpired was a despicable, lie-filled speech in which Joe Biden dishonestly spoke of the Supreme Court, Trump supporters, and the economy. Let’s start with the clip that is currently going viral in which Biden claimed the “MAGA crowd” is the “most extreme political organization that’s existed in American history.”

By the time FDA officials figured out it was spinach that was making people sick in 10 states – sending three people into kidney failure – it was too late. It was mid-November 2021 and the packaged salad’s short shelf life had passed. There was no recall. By the time FDA officials got inspectors on the ground, spinach season was over. The fields and the production facilities were empty, which made it impossible to pinpoint the source of contamination. Whatever caused the outbreak was likely never fixed.

Republican gubernatorial hopeful Garrett Soldano unveiled a set of transparency and anti-corruption proposals that might sound familiar to Michigan Democrats. Soldano, a Kalamazoo chiropractor, said his “Michigan Sunshine 2.0″ platform is modeled after reforms Gov. Gretchen Whitmer supported as a 2018 candidate but hasn’t delivered on. It’s also a response to sexual harassment and ethics investigations facing former House Speaker Lee Chatfield, a Republican who left the chamber due to term limits in 2021.

The Washington Post has a story today about the network of tunnels dug beneath Gaza by Hamas fighters. The entire network is estimated to stretch over 300 miles despite the Gaza strip being on 25 miles long. It’s where Hamas fighters have been hiding out since the start of Israel’s military response to the 10/7 attack. But the IDF has no intention of entering the tunnels which are likely booby-trapped. Israeli military protocol generally prohibits regular ground troops from entering tunnels, as the chances of being killed or captured is too high. Israelis have seen their soldiers grabbed and dragged into tunnels, so the likely strategy will be to attempt

But now DailyMail.com can reveal how the top GOP lawmaker and his wife Kelly informally adopted James after meeting him while doing charitable community work in Louisiana in the 1990s.

A Connecticut judge was forced to throw out the results of a Democrat mayoral primary after surveillance videos showed possible ballot stuffing that a local judge said rendered the court "unable to determine the legitimate result." This week, Superior Court Judge William Clark ordered a new Democratic primary due to the misconduct. He claimed that the number of tampered ballots found changed the results of the original election, according to NBC Connecticut. “The volume of ballots so mishandled is such that it calls the result of the primary election into serious doubt and leaves the court unable to determine the legitimate result of the primary,” Clark wrote

The “supreme leader” of Iran, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, declared in an address on Wednesday that the common chant of “Death to America” in his country is “not just a slogan – it is a policy,” one his regime intended to bring to fruition. Khamenei was reportedly delivering remarks on Iranian regime-controlled television regarding the ongoing conflict between the nation of Israel and the Hamas genocidal terrorist organization, which Iran funds to the tune of tens of millions of dollars a year. The Iranian regime has enthusiastically embraced Hamas following its harrowing October 7 terrorist attack against civilians in Israel, which featured door-to-door slaughters of entire families in their homes,

The idiom for pregnancy, “a bun in the oven,” which traces its origins back more than 2,000 years to Ancient Greece, is in fact “misogynistic,” according to Kathleen Crowther, an historian of reproductive medicine at the University of Oklahoma. Crowther insists the idiom reduces the role of the mother to a mere incubator after the majority of the work has been done by the man. “I don’t think most people who use that metaphor are being misogynistic.” “But I think it actually does come from a deeply misogynistic tradition of thinking about women’s bodies as passive,” she argues.

Hezbollah Secretary-General Hassan Nasrallah said in a televised speech: “Let me be clear, the United States is just as responsible…Americans have to pay, they have to pay for Israel’s slaughter.” A few days after Hamas invaded Israel, perpetrating the most brutal massacre against Jews since the Holocaust, Hezbollah terrorists clashed with Israel Defense Forces along the Lebanon border, opening a second front in the conflict. If Israel’s military attacks Lebanon, where Hezbollah is operating, it will “pay dearly,” Nasrallah vowed.
