Bob Knight, the tempestuous winner of three NCAA national championships while the basketball coach at Indiana University died Wednesday. Knight — often his own worst enemy while warring with administrators, faculty members, security guards, the media, his own players and even a random student or two — was 83, suffered from dementia and had been in ill health for the last several years. “It is with heavy hearts that we share that Coach Bob Knight passed away at his home in Bloomington surrounded by his family,” Knight’s family said in a statement.

Comments:

He called Micheal Jordan the greatest athlete he's ever seen. For all his faults he knew the game as good as anybody.

He was a great coach. Unfortunately, his flaws sometimes overshadowed his achievements. The chair-throwing incident back in the '80s is being plastered all over the internet tonight. May he rest is peace.

I always admired the man. He won three NCAA championships with modest talent and brought out the best in them through discipline and basketball basics. He coddled no one and tolerated no dissent or poor team play. A true mensch.

Also a true American patriot, he coached Team USA to Olympic gold in '84 but remained unfulfilled because the Russians weren't there to beat. RIP, Coach.

Knight was involved in a scuffle with a police officer at the Pan American Games in Puerto Rico in the late 70s. He was charged, but an extradition effort was dropped. Knight said, and I paraphrase,”the last Puerto Rico saw of me was when I showed them the moon over San Juan as I flew out of the country.” Coach Bob Knight was one of a kind. R.I.P.

Here's a little bit of Bobby Knight trivia. When he was coaching on a high school level in Cuyahoga Falls, Ohio, one of his players was a future member of Devo. Crack that whip!

Indiana person here. Bobby Knight, too much to say about the man in this forum. The man you loved to hate but for the most part you were glad he was on your side. Knew the game inside and out and had a hell of a lot of flaws. Loved his plaid jackets back in the day. Love him or hate him he knew the game. RIP

Knight's ferocity and fire for winning was off the scale. Wow. But he knew basketball and how to instill winning into his players. Rest in Peace, Coach Knight.

I miss people like Bobby Knight and Woody Hayes. For them the sports they couched were more than a game. I'd consider it to be an honor to be punched by Woody or Bobby.

The cost of goods and services rose 0.4 percent for a second consecutive month in September, challenging the view that the Federal Reserve’s rate hikes are still bringing down inflation. The personal consumption expenditure price index was expected to cool slightly from the prior month. Over the past year, the index is up 3.4 percent. That is unchanged from the August reading, data from the Commerce Department showed Friday. The Federal Reserve says it wants to bring PCE inflation down to two percent, a rate not seen since President Joe Biden took office in early 2021

Disney was not accountable to anyone,” observed Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis in his announcement kicking off his presidential campaign. “You know, it’s human nature: If there’s no accountability over any individual or entity, of course they’re going to behave differently than if you have normal accountability.” The truth of DeSantis’ words is perfectly demonstrated by Disney’s recent treatment of guests at Shades of Green, a military-owned hotel at Walt Disney World. Disney’s actions say a lot about how a company — one that used to be notable for its patriotism in the days of Walt — now regards U.S. Armed Forces families and veterans.

Will the physical, sexual, emotional and mental abuse of children by the culture never cease? The latest from Disney, which in recent years has made the devil’s work its standard business practice, is truly appalling. Their new Disney+ show The Proud Family: Louder and Prouder has but one aim: Foster racial hate and division. It is an angry, bitter … racist … assault on whites, stoking resentment amongst black kids and self-loathing among white kids. It also rewrites history in a vile way. You don’t lie about and slander national heroes unless your goal is to take out the nation.
