“A nation can survive its fools, and even the ambitious. But it cannot survive treason from within. An enemy at the gates is less formidable, for he is known and carries his banner openly. But the traitor moves amongst those within the gate freely, his sly whispers rustling through all the alleys, heard in the very halls of government itself.” --Marcus Tullius Cicero
The uniparty, that deep state bureaucracy that rules over us all, determined that the people should not have the Speaker of their choice.
A clear majority of Republicans wanted Rep. Jim Jordan to replace Rep. Kevin McCarthy for good and obvious reasons.

The clear majority that wanted Jordan over McCarthy has a fight on its hands, doesn't it? We see the traitors loud and clear, but what will the non-RINOs and Pubs who want to get reelected do? The uniparty is telling US who they are in living color; we should believe them and act accordingly.

A non-functional government prevents Joe and Barack from spending more money so, take your time pubbies. Keep floundering until November of next year and people will vote for the democrat out of boredom.

The 200 or so democratic members of the house did not bring a sence of honor or decency to the vote by voting blindly as a bloc.

I joined the Republican party after the Democrats left me, now I am about to leave the republican party for the same reason.
To me it seems the republican party is frightened to get behind anyone who has a set of balls and doesn't mind using them.
The party of cowards.

The main thing the Republican party as a whole doesn't want is to be identified in any way with Trump or anything he stands for. For if they were they wouldn't be part of Washington's "in-clubs" and might even be "disrespected" by their "peers." As a result they might as well be democrats by name...
Strange that MAGA has become a term of contempt.
MAGA: Make America Great Again........how in the devil could that be construed into anything bad?

I have voted for these bozos for over 50 years, sometimes holding my nose.
NOTHING has ever gotten better in all that time.
It wasn't the democrats, it WAS the Republicans all that time standing in the way of progress.
The uniparty rules.
These people stand for their own self interest only.
We are circling the drain and it's too late to save what little is left.
These traitors have killed us, we will soon fall.

The following summarizes why I remain very pessimistic about keeping the House in 2024. We're our own worst enemy. "To the millions of us who desperately wanted Jim Jordan to become Speaker, those twenty-five spoilers will forever be known to a large majority of Republicans as traitors, betrayers."

I would also say it has exposed many on here as well. I also use GAB and the war in Israel has also exposed the many antisemites within the GOP. It is clear to me that I do not belong in the GOP. I am a Christian Conservative that loves God, family and friends. The GOP is not my friend. Have a blessed day folks.

Elections no longer matter, but we already knew that.
America is circling the toilet bowl, ant it would be interesting to experience the final descent, although I don't plan on being here.

I really don't see why people are so freaked out and angry at a paralyzed Congress.
Congress ONLY writes laws which take away a freedom by making something that we used to be able to do freely, illegal, and making things we DON'T want to do, mandatory. And raise our taxes, and hand out more of out money to money grubbers and drive us deeper into debt. Yes, there are a few examples to the contrary, but they are extremely rare events.
It seems pretty obvious that a paralyzed Congress is a GOOD THING for most Americans. I hope that they stay paralyzed for a year.

I am convinced the Republican Party, as a whole, is comfortable in a their role where they can b i t ch about the dims but don't have to actually govern. They live comfortably through campaign donations from businesses which only want to appear bi-partison and the fools who actually believe they want to change and limit government. I will never give a cent to either party and will only donate to indiduals.

Interesting logic. The eight who defied the Republican majority by aligning with Democrats to remove McCarthy are heroes, but the 25 who didn’t vote for Jim Jordan are traitors.

They have always counted on the belief that voters will forgive their ineptitude and begging for bribes, and vote for them simply because they aren't democrats. Sometimes it has actually worked. I voted for McCain and Romney even though I believed them both to be scoundrels simply because the alternative was worse.
What we could really use is a candidate with integrity who loves America. Well, that wont work. They'll sue him and tie him up in court on fake charges just to wear him down and get rid of him.

Excellent summary of McCarthy’s failures although many of those failures were due to the intransigence of people like those who refused to support Jordan. The author, however, neglects the fact that only 4% of Republican congressmen supported removing McCarthy. The eight who effected his removal did so only by colluding with the Democrats. Republicans voted 96% to keep McCarthy as Speaker. The Democrats voted 100% to remove him. Big win for the Democrats
With the humiliation of Jim Jordan we see now that Matt Gaetz accomplished nothing except empower weaklings like the two dozen who now hold all the cards. They will select the next speaker, who will be far less conservative than McCarthy. Thank you Matt. The deep state’s favorite Republican and reliable tool of Biden, Pelosi, Schumer and Mitch McConnell.

The “weaklings” have always been empowered. They’re the reason nothing good ever comes as a result of a GOP majority in either chamber. In fact, what appeared as a majority was no majority at all. Call them “Effectively Democrat”. ED Republicans.

there was nothing objectionable about Jim Jordan being Speaker and only shows the rise of the RINO's in the House is very disturbing

"treason from within"....
Looking at YOU, the traitors running ABC/NBC/CBS/CNN/MSNBC/NPR/NYSlymes/AP (American Pravda) and some others.
These traitors have been feeding Americans a steady diet of POISON every since the Tet offensive in Vietnam, in 1968.
(Tet was a military defeat for the Communists, but the American Leftist Media turned it into a Propaganda Victory for the Communists.)
Feed a Nation a diet of POISON for 55 years, and that nation will be pretty sick.
Look around, America is pretty sick, with the sickness concentrated in the big cities, where Urban Thug Culture has displaced American culture.

The quote from Cicero here does not appear in any of Cicero's works. These are actually the words of author Taylor Caldwell in her historical-fictional novel of Cicero, "A Pillar of Iron" (1965). In the book, she attributes the words as being said of Cicero by the Roman historian Sallust, but these words do not appear in Sallust either. They are entirely Caldwell's.

Neither party seems able nor courageous enough to have valued, respected and supported the U.S. Constitution and the timeless principles the U.S.A. was founded upon. Both parties are disappoints to the citizens who do. ...Instead, trickery and flim/flams are priority toos of many of the pols in this Congress, pols who continually abuse their oaths of office in plain sight.
