Natalee Holloway's mother has said her case is finally solved after Joran van der Sloot today admitted bludgeoning the teen to death on a beach with a cinder block and then dumping her body in the water - 18 years after she went missing. Van Der Sloot, 36, was sentenced to 20 years in prison in Birmingham, Alabama, for extortion and wire fraud as part of a plea deal in which he agreed to come clean about how he killed the recent high school graduate on the Caribbean island of Aruba in 2005. The confession came after he put Natalee's parents through torment by sending them chilling emails offering to tell them

If I were Natalee Holloway's father, brother, or sister, I'd meet that gentleman as he was released from prison. The rest of the story would have something to do with a life sentence, but at least Van Der Sloot would have received his just reward..

20 years runs to 2044. In the interim, sending him back to Peru to serve the rest of his 28-year sentence there through 2038. More likely to meet an early demise in one of those prisons. But, Mom, the question has always been: Aruba? Why not Fort Walton Beach? Daytona, maybe?

Pretty light sentence for such a heinous crime. Not wanting to blame the victim, but what parent in their right mind allows an 18 year-old female to go off on her own to Aruba or any other far away place without some accompanying adult? Young women these days seem to think they are bullet proof and can defend against anything. But look at all the male athletes masquerading as women who clean their clocks in college sports. As a 20 year-old, testosterone-fired young guy serving in Vietnam I thought I would be bullet proof, too. The machinegun slug that caught me did not see things the same way. And I was well-equipped to fight back!

He said he gave his heart to Jesus, if that is true, he should demand they put him to death for those crimes of murder for that's what the Bible says should be done. “Whoever sheds man’s blood, By man his blood shall be shed; For in the image of God He made man." Genesis 9:6.

Eighteen year old girls are naive and vulnerable. They make dumb decisions but are usually allowed to live, learn and mature. In today’s licentious world young woman are encouraged to ignore their natural fears and modesty, participate in risky pursuits with strange men and pretend they’re thrilled about it. I’ve visited Aruba and it is a civilized and low crime island, generally much safer than, say, Jamaica. Parents need not have been alarmed. Van der Sloot is a monster and anomaly and should pay with a lifetime in custody. Life in a hellhole prison is probably worse than death. Plus, he does look like hell.

Serial killer Joran van der Sloot says he killed her by himself by hitting her with a cinder block. He dragged her body to the ocean and her body or clues to her death have never been found. Sorry, I don't buy it. Even sharks leave clues ...like clothes. Plus bodies don't sink...they float. ..Think Laci Petterson in SF Bay.

Sharks and barracudas, #18, would make short work of the body. And once a body is dismembered, so the internal organs can't hold air, they do not float, they sink. And warm water - lots more fishes to clean up the mess.

Desperate families of Israeli children kidnapped by Hamas - including a baby and a four-year-old seen being taken away with their weeping mother - have broken down on live TV as they made heartbreaking appeals for their rescue. Speaking at a press conference with other families who had loved ones snatched in Hamas's raid on Nir Oz kibbutz on October 7, one relative was unable to hold back her tears as she recounted seeing a video of her cousin being taken by the terrorists. At least 203 people are thought to have been taken hostage after Hamas's surprise attack more than a week ago.

Rep. Ilhan Omar (D-MN) backtracked on her blame of Israel for a hospital strike in Gaza, after further evidence suggested that Israeli Defense Forces (IDF) had nothing to do with the explosion, and it was caused by a misfired rocket fired from a Palestinian militant group. Omar had initially accused the IDF of war crimes, posting on X, “Bombing a hospital is among the gravest of war crimes. The IDF reportedly blowing up one of the few places the injured and wounded can seek medical treatment and shelter during a war is horrific.”

President Joe Biden addressed the American people Thursday night from the Oval Office, tying together the conflicts in Ukraine and Israel, arguing 'we can't let terrorists like Hamas and Putin win.' Arguing that 'chaos will spread,' the president pleaded with Congress to pass what's expected to be $100 billion in new funding, which is already being met with resistance by Congressional Republicans, wary of giving any new money to Ukraine. But seated at the Resolute Desk, Biden argued in his 15-minute address that Russian President Vladimir Putin and the terror group Hamas, responsible for the bloody October 7 attack on Israel 'represent different threats' but share a common goal.

Sometimes, something is so hard to swallow that it causes acid reflux. Heartburn causes us discomfort, but, unless it is truly debilitating and usually long-lasting, it tends to be quickly forgotten — especially if caused by some food we like. Those reflections come after reading Ezekiel Emanuel’s essay, “The Moral Deficiencies of a Liberal Education,” in the October 17 New York Times. Emanuel, who teaches bioethics at the University of Pennsylvania, bemoans the “moral blinders” so prominently on display on various college campuses — especially, but not only, elite ones like Harvard, Yale, Columbia, and Penn — in the initial reaction to Hamas’s terror attack on Israel.

A military operation to rescue the hostages held by Hamas terrorists appears all but impossible, with experts warning that diplomacy should now be the main focus — as Israel’s military revealed the number of kidnapped has risen to more than 200. Twelve days after Hamas invaded Israel in a surprise terror attack, officials in the Jewish state estimate that 203 people were taken hostage by the terror group — an increase on its previous number of those believed to be kidnapped. Given the large number of innocent captives — which include children, women and the elderly from about 40 different nations — experts on hostage negotiations fear a military rescue is
