Did Hamas just jump the shark?

Original Article

Just as the latest invasion began in Israel, swarms of the usual suspects began protesting in front of Israeli consulates in various American cities. Some of the anti-Israeli demonstrators were themselves Jewish… being committed leftists first and Jews second. They were of particular interest to the mainstream news media. Then news of horrific atrocities being carried out by the Hamas militants began to surface. Shooting up a harmless music festival is way too much for even woke progressives -- let alone flaunting the naked bodies of freshly murdered women. As I write, the revulsion on the Left is still lurking below the radar.

How can anyone possibly trivialize what Hamas did by asking if they “jumped the shark?” For shame, Mr Ross, for shame!

Way more to this. Let's assume Iran planned this to escalate into a multi nation war, so big that Israel can't survive.

Nah, doesn't bother the Haaaavard crowd. In fact calling this "jumping the shark" is insulting to the guy who first "jumped the shark" -- The Fonz on Happy Days!

Unless Netanyahu caves to demands by the majority muslim UN and the leftist idiots in the US Government, Hamas will be wiped out like the infestation that they are, hopefully taking Hezbollah and the trouble-making capability of Iran with them. Normally it's a good thing to patch things up and make peace once the hotheads have cooled down but Israel has made that mistake with those savages one too many times. No Arab nation in the Middle East will take responsibility for the Palestinians. That says a lot. Who wants to to support a bunch of worthless trouble-making whiners?

Re #1, yes, my first thought was "What a ridiculous phase to use in this situation" Perhaps some don't know that the comedy TV show Happy Days was slowly running out of stories and dying, as all shows eventually do, and Fonzie went water skiiing....and literally (on the show) jumped a shark. This was taken as proof that the writers had totally run out of steam, and the show was over. Comparing a TV comedy to what Hamas is doing - is a serious error in judgement by the author. Use a better analogy. Perhaps "a bridge too far" (but that was a heroic attempt, and this is not). Or maybe is this Hamas' Trafalgar.....but then that would require an audience who knew some history, and that's not a good bet in a country that hasn't taught any meaningful world history in schools in three or four decades. Relying on TV comedy as a "historic analog" is a pretty sad thing.

Re #9. More detail The Shah was dying of cancer, and the ayatollah Kohmeni, the original evil Islamic dictator had been living in France for a number of year (thanks, France) and they let him travel back to Iran, and his evil followers were able to overthrow the weakened government of the Shah. And the USA did nothing at all to help stop this first and most virulent of the current wave of Islamic terrorists. And they grabbed a bunch of American hostages and Jimmah the Bozo set up a rescue attempt that was staffed by braver than brave men, but we didn't have the equipment or training to make it work in 1980. Delta Force had just been stood up, but they had no helicopters with the required range. They borrowed the only helos in US inventory with the range and aerial refueling capability required, USMC special helos for minesweeping. Unfortunately, nobody asked anyone with any experience with these how this would work. A family member, a former senior NATO commander, then recently retired, with experience in USN with these minesweeper helos told me "those things were ALWAYS breaking down, very serious reliability problems with a rare model of helo. I'd have sent twice as many as I thought I needed, they are that unreliable." They didn't send enough. And the helos broke, and then things went downhill from there, the mission was a failure before it even contacted the enemy. This led to far, far better equipment and training for Delta and for the SEALs for these kind of extremely difficult hostage rescues. And now Delta and SEAL DevGru going into Gaza to save Israelis. Best wishes to our best and bravest.

Understand that our foreign and domestic enemies not only eagerly support the frenzy of rape and murder we saw in Israel but that they want it repeated here in America. When they talk about “the consequences of colonialization” or complain that Israel has defended itself, they are normalizing mass atrocities by their purported allies against their actual enemies. Their enemies in Israel are Jews – men, women, and children – and here, their enemies are normal Americans – again, men, women and children. Denial simply empowers these monsters, and attempts by the goo-goos to appeal to our enemies’ morality, or to point out

Those using crutches or wheelchairs took separate routes for greater efficiency. Some of the deplorable detritus still sported red hats rather than yellow stars. Welcome to Hillary Clinton’s Amerika. For the last sixty or so years the media-education complex has established a rule that only ethnic groups of color are permitted to have grievances. Indeed, since the emergence of Barack Obama, these groups have formed something of a grievance-industrial complex. Italian-Americans apparently don’t pass the color test. Although they come from roughly the same Mediterranean stock as people from Spain, Americans of Spanish descent get a bump up the swag wagon. Italians get niente. People of Spanish descent even get a designated month, National Hispanic Heritage Month.

Over the weekend, Starbucks union chapters in progressive strongholds, such as Iowa City, Chicago, and Boston, promoted "Long Live Palestinian Resistance" rallies supporting the Hamas attacks.

Hamas has even chopped off the heads of little babies and gunned down entire families in their beds. Mitchell hosted an Israeli mom whose two children were abducted by Hamas. A campaign of rape, murder, and kidnapping ensued. None were spared, and even babies were found beheaded. And still, scores of leftists refuse to condemn Hamas, instead siding with the terrorists. Tlaib at first offered this statement:

Over the weekend, Hamas attacked Israel, making October 7 the bloodiest day in the country's history and one that killed the most Jews since the end of the Holocaust. Given the support that Hamas had from Iran, many have called out the Biden administration for its move to provide the country with $6 billion--a decision that was announced on September 11--as part of a prisoner swap. As the money has reportedly not actually gone to Iran yet, Sen. Marsha Blackburn (R-TN) has called on President Joe Biden to void the agreement and freeze the payments.

Established in 1802 under President Thomas Jefferson, West Point is our nation’s oldest armed services academy and the first engineering school in the United States. Why engineering? Because it is a battlefield-relevant discipline that promotes the kind of critical thinking military leaders need to fight and win wars. Successful combat officers must be able to solve basic engineering problems, such as determining whether bridges will support trucks and armored vehicles, how best to cross rivers and other obstacles, how to plan and build fortifications, and where to place demolition charges, to name just a few required skills.

Recent instances of Vermont store-goers detaining and even assaulting would-be thieves reveal growing societal tensions seeded by progressive policies. Vermont’s law enforcement services are anemic due to anti-police rhetoric, racialization of courts, and lax prosecutorial policies. Vermont is not enforcing basic criminal laws, as gang-related violence and property crimes transform communities, drug overdoses skyrocket, and businesses are compromised. Citizens are tired of being victimized by government failure: many are taking matters into their own hands. On September 6, customers restrained a shoplifter in a Walmart parking lot in Berlin, Vermont. After arresting and charging the suspect, the Berlin Police Department sought to discourage similar public actions

There was an awful lot of (fake) hand-wringing on the Sunday shows this weekend about the “chaos” in the House caused by Matt Gaetz’s successful coup in ousting Majority Speaker Kevin McCarthy. What’s even more despicable (predictably so) was the attempt to tie this alleged Republican chaos to the horrific attacks against Israel this holiday weekend by asking guests whether this (non-existent) chaos would hamstring Congress’s ability to act. Never really in search of an answer, the questions were actually designed to make the point that House Republican incompetence and infighting jeopardize the United States’ ability to respond to international crises. More on that in a sec.
