Trump: Not a great man

Donald Trump is not a great man. His rhetoric, which has included denunciations of those who have served in the military (while he dodged the draft five times with a limp excuse about bone spurs) ought to disgust all but those who are in complete denial of the danger he would pose to the Constitution and the country should he be re-elected president. Humility is not part of his vocabulary and words mean something, especially when they reflect character. In the latest "indictment" of Trump's virulent rhetoric, his former chief of staff, John Kelly, issued a statement in which he says he witnessed Trump insulting wounded veterans and others.

The opinion expressed by Mr. Thomas is not only stunning, but delusional from the standpoint of its content being based on the delusions of President Trump’s adversaries.
~ Denunciation of military veterans. / A letter written by a Gold Star Father to Sheriff Joe Arpaio to express his disgust “over inflammatory remarks made by General John Kelly” and relate to Sheriff Arpaio he and his wife’s “firsthand experience with President Trump’s love for the military, especially Gold Star Families” expressed his heartfelt gratitude for President Trump and First Lady Melania Trump having spent three hours with Gold Star Families at a 2019 ceremony honoring Gold Star Families, an annual event they host not publicized in the press. This Gold Star Father is convinced of President Trump’s love for the military, veterans, and Gold Star Families and he is ready to do whatever is necessary to defend President Trump’s honor.
~ Sketch of Jesus sitting beside President Trump in a Manhattan courtroom. / No, the implication of President Trump having shared that sketch on his Truth Social website meaning he “is being persecuted as Jesus was persecuted” is not clear and should not be misconstrued as blasphemy. For evangelical supporters, the interpretation may well a reminder of “The Great Commission” Jesus gave to the Apostles, “... And behold, I AM WITH YOU ALWAYS, TO THE END OF THE AGE.” (Matthew 28:20)
~ Treason / According to Merriam-Webster, treason is “the offense of attempting by overt actions to overthrow the government of the state to which the offender owes allegiance...the betrayal of a trust (treachery).” If anyone is found guilty of treason in this country, the law is clear that death is one of the sentences to be administered: 18 U.S. Code § 2381 - Treason
~ Looters, Women, Language, Deportment / Naïve idealists deny the magnitude of crime running rampant in this country that becomes more dangerous to innocent citizens each day. Something has to be done and it is not stirring incitement when calling for legal means to protect this country’s citizenry. / While most women are not comfortable with the off-color language Donald Trump (as a celebrity and private citizen) used, women understand women and will not deny the truth of what he said--some women are “receptive” to certain male advancements while others are not. / With regard to profanity, some people have no problem, but others strongly object—especially when it comes to the most vulgar word being flaunted by people who think it fashionable, or kids who think it cool. Without question, the preference would be for President Trump to rise above such vulgarity and, instead, be an exceptional role model for this country and the world. / This country has seen the publically “refined deportment” of some politicians of stature to learn later of their less than honorable real life; what most people prefer is a straight-arrow and that is President Trump—a man who respects and strives to live within the boundaries of the Constitution, not circumventing, dishonoring, or disregarding the Constitution.
~ While he dodged the draft five times with a limp excuse about bone spurs. / As has been pointed out elsewhere, if Donald Trump was guilty of draft dodging, he would have spent time in jail. Bone spurs are caused by the breaking down of cartilage and can be painful; if the knee, painful to extend or bend the leg; if affecting the spinal cord or nerve roots, they can cause weakness or numbness in arms or leg; if the hip, can reduce range of motion.
Unless people have walked in President Trump’s shoes since he came down the escalator in 2015, they have no idea what it is like to live 24/7/365 for eight years of irrational, unmitigated hatred, schemes, and plots to destroy him and, in doing so, the ripple effect on his family. “Judge not...” (Matthew 7:1-3)
“Judging others makes us blind, whereas love is illuminating. By judging others we blind ourselves to our own evil and to the grace which others are just as entitled to as we are.” (Dietrich Bonhoeffer was a Lutheran pastor, theologian, anti-Nazi dissident known for his staunch resistance to the Nazi dictatorship that included vocal opposition to Hitler's euthanasia program and genocidal persecution of the Jews. Pastor Bonhoeffer, at the age of 39, was hanged on April 9, 1945 as the Nazi regime was collapsing.)

Beautifully written #1 Thank you. As for Thomas , he couldn't ever have withstood the filth and lies of the kind thrown at President Trump. A man and his family that have been dragged through political fires and sewers for what???? And to what end? We the people that support the man know and I suspect people like Thomas knows also. Thomas is a coward to assault President Trump AND his people in the disgusting manner he has. But I know the president will get by these storms just as he has all the rest. Why? Because they are LIES and those like Thomas that spew them will lose. God Bless President Trump . MAGA

I believe it is a slanderous lie that Trump denigrated those who died or were maimed defending the country. I have never seen any proof of that while there are numerous witnesses refuting that he ever did so.
It’s one thing to criticize his rough talk. I have deplored some of his insults and braggadocio but when all is said and done the only important aspect of the man is how he governed the country. He did a great job. That’s the only thing rational voters should care about.
Cal Thomas does himself a grave disservice by this unhinged rant that explodes from his pen.

Don't like Trump, don't vote for him then. However, Cal Thomas, like every other never Trumper will focus on Trump
s character flaws (they want a saint) and ignore what he actually did and achieved as President. You may not like the words he uses , that he des not use pretty, bug words like RINO Republican intellectuals; but Trump got results. If he had not had Democrat and RINO opposition to some agenda items, as well as COVID, he would achieved a lot more positive things for the USA. Again, people like Cal Thomas forget all about that in search of an ineffective saint.

I call BS on the Kelly story. Just another general who was bought off by the Deep State, like Mattis and Petraeus. It's no coincidence that America has not won a war since 1945.
As for Milley, they shot Eddie Slovik for much less.

Trump poses a threat to the Constitution? Biden and the Democrats totally ignore the Constitution as though they are Sovereign Kings rather than governing in accordance with the laws laid down in the Constitution. As was said by Rep. Phil Hare "I don't worry about the Constitution.

It only takes one phone call - "nice government pension and Tricare benefits you have there" - to Kelly, Patraeus, Mattis, et al. to get them to say whatever the string-pullers want them to say. Hero to zero in 10 seconds flat - in my opinion.

"Trump is drawing all attention to him, which is his intent. He correctly says that with each new indictment, his poll numbers go up. That says a lot about his followers' low requirements for high office."
No, the problem isn't Trump supporters with "low requirements for high office."
The problem is the delusional sub-culture that has sprung up around destroying Donald Trump. Well-off, and well-connected hangers-on, failed candidates, corrupt agency officials, politicians and globalist worshiping actors decided amongst themselves they're entitled to "approve" which candidates Americans are allowed to choose from. That self-serving idea came about around the time Donald Trump announced his 2016 presidential candidacy, and the Russia Hoax was created.
Note that these players are the same folks who pretend to worry about "Our Democracy" as if they own it. These privileged peacocks are dedicated to the notion that Donald Trump (who brought prosperity to middle America) has no right to run for president without approval from the Country Club Set. In fact, they're openly talking about ordinary citizens who don't agree with them needing to be "deprogrammed."
That's not the way democracies operate. It's way would-be dictators seek to impose their will on their "subjects." The elites got their way with Biden's presidency. He won! And we're supposed to believe Donald Trump and his supporters are the problem? Perhaps the real problem is that our "betters" seek to end American sovereignty via wealth redistribution. Maybe losing our own sovereignty to globalist authorities poses a greater threat to our national interests, than Donald Trump. Like his supporters, Donald Trump can think for himself.

Allow me to supply some trivia about Cal, the auto salesman, for the benefit of #13. That was Cal Worthington who owned car sales outlets in Southern California. Ad jingle chorus went "Go see Cal, go see Cal, go see Cal". I watched a lot of grade Z movies on late-night TV, and Cal was inescapable. His promise was "If I can't make you a better deal, I'll eat a bug!" He and Ralph Williams were great fun.
