Kevin McCarthy will not make another run for Speaker of the House after he was ousted from the job in a historic vote on Tuesday sparked by a tumultuous civil war in the Republican Party.
He made the announcement to House Republicans on Tuesday evening, a few hours after eight GOP lawmakers joined Democrats to boot him from his leadership spot.
House Republicans met behind closed doors on Tuesday night to discuss the fallout from the historic vote that resulted in McCarthy, R-Calif., becoming the first Speaker in the 234-year history of the United States Congress to have his gavel taken away by fellow lawmakers.

I'm still steaming mad but McCarthy wanted/felt entitled to this position that he agreed to a five vote thresh hold to vacate the Chair. Gaetz, even in the vote on January abstained. He was laying in wait to pounce and McCarthy allowed himself to be played by the Rats

All he did was play into the Democrats hand as they now know they can obstruct all remaining legislation and blame it all on "MAGA Republicans".
If there is a shutdown, it won't be Biden and the Democrats any longer, but "MAGA Republicans".
The conversation just changed and it benefits Democrats now.
They will end up with a CR to fund the government and the Democrats will only need to pick-off a few vulnerable Republicans to re-take the House, stop all investigations and work to install their Progressive agenda.

Just remember that, whenever Donald Trump rants against "Rinos", voters see that as anyone less conservative than Matt Gaetz.

Between the jockeying for position and rearranging deck chairs on our sinking ship, the palace intrigue of who's doing dirty deeds and the never-ending investigations of those deeds and speed-passing unread bills of tremendous expenses - when exactly does our great deliberative body ever have time to read those bills, do the deliberations, inform the citizens? You know - THEIR JOBS? There is a sense of an unseen hand moving behind the scenes that is pushing We The People toward a cliff edge. Might be the ambitious elite eyeing that Utopian 'better future' (for EVeryone!). Might be the Devil - might be God, checking his eternal timepiece. I feel uneasy.

Kevin McCarthy is from California. He is just another feckless speaker thats afraid of the liberal media just like John Boehner and Paul Ryan. What we need is a pit bull speaker like we had with Newt Gingrich. Matt Gaetz, Jim Jordan etc. Someone that will go after those Democrats and not worry about the corrupt media.

It is for the best that Kevin McCarthy not try again. He made and broke promises to the GOP Caucus, the Freedom Caucus, the Democratic Caucus and the Biden White House. The next GOP Speaker would do better to be a straight shooter, not a constantly two-faced game player.

Would you keep hiring a bad plumber, or would you fire him and find someone better?

Works for me.
Side note: Watching him talking to press now. On Biden Crime family - he knew nothing, NOTHING, until a few months ago.
Question for the former speaker: How on earth did you appear to be so impeccably stylish when you lived under a rock?

Why on earth would anyone think he would ask for a duplicate of this vote? Not stunning!

His hand-picked successor is "temporarily" filling the office, and will undoubtedly take orders from McCarthy, who now has the best of both worlds. All the power, none of the heat.

If a Republican speaker lies to his members, plays both sides of the field, fails to keep his promises then works with the opposition to pass budgets and legislation opposed by his caucus because they are a continuation of policies put in place by the opposition and harming Americans, is he really the Republican speaker?? Should he/she keep the job and continue to lie, break promises and make secret deals to pass harmfui legislation unopposed?
Haven't we been lied to, cheated and stolen from enough by our leaders? We are not deceived except by our own consent. Isn't it time we finally drew the line? A few brave souls in Congress have emerged who love this country and their constituents enough to stand in the gap and fight for what they believe is right. They (and all who are on the front line of integrity and truth in this nation and around the world) need our prayers and our support.
If you haven't read your Bible yet today, check out Ezekiel 22 for some rather uncomfortable parallels between ancient Israel and our nation. We need to repent and ask Almighty God to forgive us, cleanse our hearts and our land. Only He can help us now.

We are finding out those who really are MAGA and those who aren't. Remember Make America Great Again has escaped the minds of many of those in Congress. I think many think MAGA is Make Ukraine Great Again not us. MUGA. No! No more money to that corrupt country.
Steve Bannon has the insight of what the MAGA nation needs to turn our country around. His voice is the best of all conservative commentators. Bannon is right on! BTW, he has had McCarthy's number for years. All hat and no cattle. All talk, but no action.
