At the end of the movie Amadeus, Mozart is shown on his deathbed, frantically trying to complete his Requiem Mass, a work that may be more beloved around the world than ever before, three centuries later.
"Requiem" means "may they rest," as an ancient prayer to whatever divinity our ancestors believed in, hoping and praying that the newly dead would rest in peace, as a heavenly reward for their virtues in life, and as a petition for forgiveness for their sins in this life.
And also as a nice way to say, "Good to see you again, now go away, and stop haunting us."

It is a bit of a contradiction to continually proclaim "I'm not religious", while defending Catholicism. It doesn't lend credibility to the argument.
I suggest the author obtain a copy of "The Screwtape Letters" by C. S. Lewis.

If you thought we'd be rid of this vile communist when he drops dead - - think again.
Pope Cheech has stacked the college of cardinals with a new gaggle of commies - - and they're all set to promote one of their fellow travelers to the top job - - once Cheech has croaked. Is it time for another protestant revolution?

I have no respect for this Pope at all and find him quite destructive on multiple levels of religion and cultural. What is also sad is the pairing of this article with the name of the publication “American Thinker”. In todays world it is quite representative as to how far thinking has declined.

Certainly Mozart was one of the greatest geniuses in the history of humanity. But, when it comes to Requiems, Verdi has the best.

Luckily, I do not look to the Pope when I am in need of devine help. I go directly to God in prayer. Have a blessed day folks.

Is the pope Catholic? That's a real question today. As a lifelong (80 yrs.) Catholic, I write him off as 1) a Jesuit, and 2) as a South American Socialist! Our little Parish just got its new priest, from Columbia, and we're all watching to see what he's like. Wife and I took him supper last night, and he seems sincere, but he's only been here 2 weeks. Time will tell. He's been in America for 17 years, and still speaks very broken English, and still can't cook for himself. Also, being raised Catholic, I miss the Latin Mass and especially the hymns. They were written in Latin and sound better in Latin. I guess that's my rant for the day!

Most of Mozart's Requiem is the Dies Irae, written by a friend of St. Francis almost 1000 years ago. It was eliminated from the funeral mass/requiem in c. 1970. If this guy gave a damn about the mass, Mozart or the Church he would have showed up at a mass once in the past 50+ years. "Sed quia tepidus es et nec frigidus nec calidus incipiam te evomere ex ore meo" - Rev 3:16.

Here we see a guy with a lot of scare in himself about being dead. In order to help himself (and no one else) he has attacked in his article a church that has over one and a half Billion people who belong to the Roman Cathoic Church.

The reason many Catholics like the Latin Mass is TRADITION! One attends holy Mass with the missal so you can follow the Latin text along with the translation. Gosh, you might even learn something! These socialists, and the Pope is one make no mistake, come along and decide to change things to their liking (see Democrats), ignoring what the people like with the idea of upsetting them, partially. Eat your plain steamed broccoli and like it! No, I like my broccoli with olive oil and a little garlic, salt, and pepper, thank you very much. Please leave me alone!.

1) Western civilization is the source of man’s greatest achievements. 2) I don’t think it will ever be proven but I am positive the previous Pope was forced out and this shill put in because the previous Pope was going to reveal too much regarding child rape.

What a lovely article! I was going to comment yesterday, but got distracted. It never occurred to me to listen to classical music on line, and so I heard Mozart's "Requiem" for the very first time. Beautiful piece. I guess you can listen to everything on You Tube, and for free! And I agree with the author that Francis and Joey B are two peas in a pod .They are proof that cream no longer rises to the top. (Maybe that is what DEI is all about.)
I grew up with the Latin Mass, and you could attend a High Mass or a Solemn High Mass and hear such beautiful music, but the prayers of the mass were also beautiful, e.g., "I will go to the altar of God; to God the joy of my youth." Francis knows the young are attracted to the Latin Mass and that is why he wants it to disappear. Must not have the faith be kept alive by the next generation.
The thing about the globalists (and Francis and Joey are card-carrying members) is that they do not believe in truth or beauty or the young. (They think they are going to live forever.)

The history of our Popes can truly be laid out on a Bell curve. Some were good, some very good ... and a few were horrid! Heck ... Dante even tossed at least one into Hell.
It is tough for the faithful to live through hard times and a despotic leader ... but remember Who is really in charge ... and it's not this guy. In a time of His picking, we will be rid of Pope Frankie and the pendulum will swing back. Sadly it probably won't happen in my lifetime.
This Pope opposes the Latin Mass because it is a talisman or holy relic that reminds us what once was and could be again! Better to only worship the here & now like all good socialists/communists.
No matter ... the scattered sheep will be found by the Good Shepard sooner or later!
Believe!!

The Pope's reasons for doing away with the Latin Mass lie mainly in "unity," in that there seems be a line of demarcation between those who think Vatican II helped the Church or harmed it. Many traditionalists who love the Latin Mass are not content with having a "once a month" Tridentine Mass--they want it all the time; and that demand cannot exist with the core principles of Vatican II. I wish both still were available, however. I converted in 1985, so all I know is the new form; and while I appreciate the traditional Latin and the music, I don't care at all for the priest with his back to me, the altar rail separating me from the altar and the priest, and other aspects of the Latin Mass. That said, I go to Mass to listen to His word (in my own language), be nourished by the Eucharist, and be strengthened by my brothers and sisters in Christ. Any Catholic Church, and any form, (Tridentine or VII), will suffice.

#11, I’ve always thought that Benedict was forced out for being too conservative and for his opportunity to do for Western Europe what JPII did for Eastern Europe. He was from Germany and his influence could have been monumental. Western European churches of any denomination are not much more these days than museums for the tourists to visit. The globalists don’t want them to be filled with the faithful again.

When I became a born again Christian a few decades ago, my first fellowship was with Charismatic Catholics. These Catholics were joyous and loved the Lord, but Christian Leader David Wilkerson prophesied that that movement would be squashed by the Pope and it was. It wasn't done by Pope John Paul who loved Jesus and was a true Christian and loved his people. But this Pope, is awful and not a Christian. Many of his beliefs are anti-bible. What has happened to the Catholic Church where I had such wonderful Christian fellowship all those years ago? Is the answer that they've gone "Woke" like many other denominations like the Methodists in CA.
My thought is that the Body of Christ, the Churches in America/U.S., are the backbone of our country, our civilization. Tear down the Church, tear down the nuclear family and you've destroyed a nation. Exactly what the Communists want to do. Didn't Obama say he wanted to fundamentally transform our country before he was inaugurated? He's on his way with his agenda with Biden.
At our house, we pray daily for the Latin Mass Catholics who are being persecuted by the DOJ/FBI and sought out and attacked by this WH's orders. Congress just did a Hearing about that. If Catholics want to cling to their tradition and have a Latin Mass, why won't the Pope, our Administration and the Left just leave them alone?

As a practicing Catholic...I can tell you...this pope has done nothing for the church...his edicts are not based on the Bible's teaching...my pope was Pope John Paul...he was genuine...and guides me to this day...

To fully understand what is happening inside the Catholic Church world wide, Catholics and interested others should investigate the vision of Pope Leo XIII during the celebration of Mass in the Vatican on October 13, 1884. It was after that vision he wrote the famous St. Michael prayer. Thirty-three years later were the appearances of the Blessed Virgin Mary at Fatima, Portugal in 1917 and the Miracle of the Sun. Our Lady's appearances and warnings to the faithful have continued though out the 20th century in Garabandal, Spain (1961-65); Akita, Japan (1973); and Medjugorje, Bosnia-Herzegovna in 1981, which continue to this day.
We are in world-wide Spiritual Warfare. Our greatest weapons are the reception of the Eucharist at Holy Mass and praying the Rosary, our Lady's Sword.

The Pope is Catholic, and is the bravest defender of unborn children and of Christian marriage, on Earth. I think this is why he is so attacked; everyone wants him down. And to suck away from him the support of those who agree on these the most basic issues, so they slam him slam him as is done here, must make Planned Parenthood laugh. Here is another fact to put in the hopper. Remember those plans to alter Notre Dame so it would become a museum not a church? The archbishop who was going to sign off on that, submitted a resignation to Rome following publication of a very old accusation of sexual impropriety. Pope Francis simply accepted it. The bishop went away. Notre Dame appears to be saved. This tale fits no structure except, of course Pope Francis is doing his duty and it turned out great and was clearly synchronized from on high. Have a blessed day, folks.
