A Florida jury has found former Parkland school resource officer Scot Peterson not guilty on all counts.
Peterson faced seven counts of felony child neglect and was the first law enforcement officer in the U.S. to face criminal charges stemming from his alleged inaction during an active school shooting. He was also charged with three counts of misdemeanor culpable negligence in relation to the adults shot in the building. Additionally, he was charged with perjury for allegedly lying to detectives.

Agree OP! He was and is a coward. But he will have to live with each and every death his inaction caused.

He will forever be "The Coward of Broward", regardless.
I hope he gets spit upon every where he goes, or at least has people mailing him, handing him White Feathers.

After watching this trial very closely I think the jury got this absolutely right on every count.

The decision stinks and he is a coward.
But the decision is constitutionally correct. South v Maryland, decided in 1855, says a police officer owes no duty to protect the public, only to preserve order.
Gonzallas v Castle Rock, 2005, was decided the same way.

#3, I suspect your erudite opinion is not shared by any of the parents of students murdered by the deranged gunman.

Having served on jury duty multiple times I tend to support the decisions made by juries. Basically, we never know the deliberations carried out behind closed doors with the instructions they were given. One exception is the OJ trial. As far as I'm concerned they never deliberated and made their decision based on race.

How sad.
People should spit on him every chance that they get.

In past cases before SCOTUS, there is not requirement for a law officer to save the victim. Only to make an attempt to save the victim. Cowardice or his waiting for backup is an attempt. The law officer will never be able to live with the community. He will either move or become a recluse in his own home. His own worse enemy will be his ownself.

Since I don't trust the news = at all - I can believe the jury heard and saw evidence that wasn't well explained. I didn't follow this trial but I did hear an interview with the defense attorney before the trial began. It was very surprising to hear what sounded like a solid refutation of the case against this guy. I won't make up my mind about it until I know the specifics. I do know that the families have been through utter torment and they were betrayed by the hurt that failed to give the killer the death penalty.

I agree with #6. I didn’t follow this case, I wasn’t on the jury, and I know how the media can distort things, so I’m not going to say anything other than this was horrible for the families who lost their loved ones, and the shooter belongs in hell. The man on trial has lived through this since it happened and will for the rest of his life.

Re #11, it is a bad bet to assume that everyone has a conscience. Many absolutely have NONE, and will not suffer one instant of "pain of conscience".

What a disappointment. His job was to protect kids in case someone attacked them, but all he did was ride in his golf cart and peek around corners. If he's not guilty of neglect, then Nikolas Cruz isn't guilty of murder-the GUN killed the kids, Cruz just carried it around. Idiots on the jury.
