Democratic North Carolina Gov. Roy Cooper declared a "state of emergency" on Monday in an attempt to stop a school choice bill from passing the state legislature. Cooper released a video announcement where he declared a state of emergency, arguing that the state of public education is "no less important" than other emergencies. "It’s time to declare a State of Emergency for public education in North Carolina. There’s no Executive Order like with a hurricane or the pandemic, but it’s no less important," Cooper stated.

Oh, Roy. FIrst, it isn't public education, its goobernment education. Second, why deny the people of NC their voice in gooberning by attacking their elected representatives and Senators their job to represent them? Its about saving democracy till democracy starts to work. Then is acting like a Little Fueher. Dictatorship to save Democracy is the Democrat way after all.

Cooper: "It’s clear that the Republican legislature is aiming to choke the life out of public education..." Actually, Governor, the teacher's unions have already done that. The mission now is revival.

Roy Cooper stole his way into the governorship; he should be impeached. The Republican legislature should call a special session and get it done. The nerve of him. How dare the people have a choice. They're supposed to accept poor education and like it. That's what dems demand.

I guess the Governor was sick the day they taught the "I'm a bill" lesson. Here's how it goes, gov ... The lege passes the bill. It shows up on your desk. You can sign it and it becomes law. You can Veto it, and then the lege has to override your veto. Heck, in some states, governors have line item veto power and can virtually turn the bill 180 degrees from its intended purpose. In some states, if you get the bill around the end of the legislative session, you can do nothing and it doesn't become law (the "pocket veto."). Why don't you try one of those items first, Mr. Governor? This "state of emergency" stuff sounds like a third-world tinhorn dictatorship. What's next? Rounding up your political opponents and putting them in jail. Oops. scratch that. Biden and his deep state cabal are already trying that one.

The emergency is to get all children OUT of government brainwashing centers and into actual schools which teach reading, writing, math, factual history and factual science. We need the end of the government indoctrination centers where they tell children lies like "you can't read", "math is racist", "America was founded on racism and today is racist", and "the world is going to end soon because you have a normal car". NC is wising up, giving choice in schools is the right thing to do. And the leftist indoctrination centers will be devoid of students as soon as they can choose.

The State of Emergency is the PUBLIC SCHOOLS! That is why the State Legislature passed the School Choice Law. If the current public school system is doing their jobs well, people will stay in them. Since many public schools have become asylums of insane inmates where little to no learning occurs, people who actually value education will take advantage of the new law and flee the failing public schools for ones where students can actually learn. That is what Democrats are really afraid of. Democrats are afraid of an educated public who will see through their lies.

It's just a slogan, this "state of emergency." He's prancing around showing how pearl-clutching liberal he is, but all he'll do is trot around the state making speeches. The NC legislature is veto-proof, and the bills in question are popular on the order of 70% or so. Seven Dems have sided with the Republicans, for example. Here are the three leading issues Cooper is troubled by (from the local paper, the News & Observer): —The Senate passed a bill that bans curriculum on gender identity, sexual activity or sexuality in kindergarten through fourth grades. —The Senate and House have both passed bills that would ban transgender female athletes from playing on girls’ sports teams. —The House passed a bill that it says would keep Critical Race Theory out of schools by putting new rules in place on how racism is taught in schools. It's no surprise his support has been slip-sliding away. Cooper also wants to give teachers an 18% pay raise; the legislature only authorized about 10.5%. A crisis! By the way, to do any real damage he has to get the ok of the NC State Council, which is a committee of ten statewide political executives like the Secretary of State and the Treasurer, etc. Six of the ten are Republican, including the chair, the Lt. Governor. Cooper and his Teachers Union Stupids would be better advised to head down to the Outer Banks and pound sand. It would be as effective and way more entertaining.

My wife has been a teacher in NC for the past 6 years. Cooper does not want to give teachers an 18% raise. For the first 5 years we were here, the Legislature offered raises in the 4-5% range, but Roy said he wanted to give 10%. After 5 years of no raises, Roy finally agreed to something around 5%. Teachers make up the largest group of state employees. Roy wants to act like he is looking out for them, but he knows his budget cannot support the raises he says he wants to give. Just glad our children went to school up North. Schools in NC... well, Bless their hearts.

That is why they will do all they can so children remain in government schools from K-12. That's why Cooper is abusing the powers of his office and November of 2024 can't get here soon enough. On a recent episode of his cable television program, Bill Maher asked Bernie Sanders to explain the difference between equality and equity, and the long-winded senator was at an unusual loss for words. “I don’t know what the answer to that is,” Sanders mumbled after an awkward pause. Pressed to clarify his position, Sanders composed himself and offered only that he supports “equality of opportunity” over equal outcomes. He does? If this answer is sincere, it would put Sanders, a self-described democratic socialist, substantially to the right of the “equity”-obsessed Biden administration and today’s public education establishment.
