Hollywood star Richard Dreyfuss, an Academy Award–winning actor best known for his role in the Jaws, said in an interview that the new diversity rules imposed by the Oscars for films to be eligible for the “Best Picture” award “make me vomit.” “They make me vomit,” Dreyfuss told Margaret Hoover on Firing Line which aired Friday night on PBS. “This is an art form. No one should be telling me as an artist that I have to give in to the latest, most current idea of what morality is.” New policies enacted by the Oscrars in 2024 will see film award eligibility dependent upon meeting two of four stipulated diversity

It's taken him this long to speak up?? His career is behind him, so he surely has no fear of missing out on roles. Most younger people probably have no idea who he is anyway, so he should speak up for sanity.

They don't really want diversity. If they did, SiFi movies would get awards. SiFi features beings from other star systems. So if a white performer plays a black role such as Othello that's racism and cultural appropriation. When a black guy, Noble Johnson, played a white person in The Most Dangerous Game that's ok. Life is getting too complicated.

Can we have more diversity in sports and in TV advertising? Looking at the ads would lead you to believe that our economy is doing great. The 15% of the population, blacks, are buying everything in site; Cars, Houses, groceries, RX, vacations etc. etc. etc. And why do they always show a family that is white and black with black kids? Come on, if blacks are 15% of the population they should only be in 15% of the ads.

Seems to me that this is just one more way the democrats are telling minorities that they no longer have to work for any success in any field. That the Leftists will determine who and how many get awards now, and wanna bet the awards won't go to whites anymore? Just my opinion based on how democrats have been operating since at least the mid 1960's.

The Federal Reserve on Wednesday approved its 10th interest rate increase in just a little over a year and dropped a tentative hint that the current tightening cycle is at an end. In a unanimous decision widely expected by markets, the central bank’s Federal Open Market Committee raised its benchmark borrowing rate by 0.25 percentage point. The rate sets what banks charge each other for overnight lending but feeds through to many consumer debt products such as mortgages, auto loans and credit cards. The increase takes the fed funds rate to a target range of 5%-5.25%, the highest since August 2007. Markets, though, are more focused on whether
