On Monday, I wrote an article regarding Ron DeSantis’ epic dunk on New York City Eric Adams’ attempts to shame the Florida governor over his policies. A Twitter user clapped back: (Tweet) The problem with this kind of misguided thinking is that it ignores an obvious point: New Yorkers have been fleeing the city in droves since the start of the pandemic, and many of them are multi-millionaires or billionaires who pay most of the taxes that keep the Big Apple running.
Daily Mail reports on the exodus of residents (and money):

When Russian President Vladimir Putin rolled across his border and into Ukraine one year ago, most Americans, along with most of the world, were horrified. Putin, most everyone agrees, is a very bad man, and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy was an almost perfect representation of the brave underdog we Americans love so much to champion.
So, as Americans, we wanted to do what, despite what the current administration would have you believe, we as Americans always want to do: We wanted to help.
It wasn’t a political thing. Republicans and Democrats agreed: This was an American thing.

Ukraine is not misusing the tens of billions of dollars in direct financial assistance it is receiving courtesy of U.S. taxpayers according to a top Biden administration official.
Samantha Power, the administrator of the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID), gave the public affirmation during a CNN live town hall on Thursday evening.
Her assurances came just hours ahead of the White House revealing it would give another $2 billion in military aid to Ukraine as its war with Russia officially hits the one-year mark, bringing the total amount of American military assistance to over $30 billion in one year.

Secretary of Transportation Pete Buttigieg appeared to wear dress boots while surveying the train derailment on the ground in East Palestine, Ohio.
Buttigieg visited Ohio on Thursday nearly three weeks after the East Palestine train derailment spilled toxic chemicals into the environment.
The secretary appeared to be wearing leather dress boots, instead of heavy-duty shoes like work boots, while surveying damage in the city. (Photo) A Department of Transportation spokesperson told FOX News Digital that the shoes were "boots" but had no record of the brand.

White House Press Secretary Karine Jean-Pierre announced the resignations of two "valued members" of the communications office on Wednesday.
After discussing the train derailment in East Palestine, Ohio and Biden's trip to Ukraine, the Press Secretary shifted gears to announce the "bittersweet" news that Jean-Pierre's Press Assistant Megha Bhattacharya and her Chief of Staff Robbie Dornbush were leaving the White House's press team.
"We have another bittersweet day for us, for the White House press team, as this is the last press briefing for Megha and Robbie — to my right here — who are valued members of our team," Jean-Pierre started.

After less than two years in Texas, Tesla is moving its engineering headquarters back up to northern California, CEO Elon Musk announced Wednesday.
During a press conference alongside Democratic California Governor Gavin Newsom, 55, the pair announced that the electric vehicle manufacturer would return to Palo Alto.
Musk, 51, moved Tesla down to Austin, Texas in the fall of 2021 over tax breaks, the cheaper cost of labor, and a battle between himself and local health officials.
At the time, Musk was adamant about his desire to reopen a massive manufacturing plant in Freemont, which was argued against by the Alameda County Department of Public Health.

House Speaker Kevin McCarthy’s decision to hand over thousands of hours of unseen video from the events at the Capitol on January 6, 2021, to Fox News host Tucker Carlson has sparked criticism from seemingly panicked Democrats, but according to the California lawmaker, he’s just making good on a promise he made to the American people.
“I promised,” he told The New York Times during a brief phone interview on Wednesday. “I was asked in the press about these tapes, and I said they do belong to the American public. I think sunshine lets everybody make their own judgment.”

On the eve of the one-year anniversary of Russia’s invasion of Ukraine, China has called for a cease-fire between the two sides and for peace talks to commence as part of a 12-point plan to end the war.
China’s Foreign Ministry revealed the plan on Friday, Beijing time, and also called for the end of Western sanctions on Russia, measures to ensure nuclear facilities, humanitarian corridors for civilians to flee the conflict and a process to ensure the continuation of grain exports.
“All parties should support Russia and Ukraine in working in the same direction and resuming direct dialogue as quickly as possible,”

A California state lawmaker has introduced legislation that would make the Golden State the first in the nation to require schools to have at least one gender-neutral bathroom on campus.
State Sen. Josh Newman (D) introduced SB 760 last week, which would require all K-12 public and charter schools to have at least one genderless bathroom for student use amid ever-increasing controversy over the place of public schools when a student claims to identify with a gender different from their biological sex.

A train carrying toxic chemicals derails in Ohio, and it’s not big a deal according to the federal government and the mainstream media. But NPR announces the layoff of 100 people, and it is a “major loss.” Um… okay.
National Public Radio will reduce its workforce by 10%, which means the termination of around 100 people. Positions that are currently vacant will be eliminated. The outlet reported that CEO John Lansing is attributing the move to a lack of advertising dollars, specifically in terms of its podcasts. NPR has an annual budget of $300 million and its revenues could be short $30 million to $32 million.
