Big field, little field: Trump, DeSantis,
and the GOP challengers

Original Article

There's been a lot of talk among Republicans about the effect a big primary field might have on the 2024 presidential nomination race. The short version is that a big field is thought to benefit former President Donald Trump, who, as in 2016, would not have to win a majority of votes to win — a plurality, and not even a big one, would be enough. On the other hand, a small field, especially a one-on-one matchup with another candidate, say Gov. Ron DeSantis (R-FL), might allow the challenger to defeat Trump. Given that, there are Republican activists in the early voting states who are trying to keep the field small.

February 15, 2023..... "Among the others making moves toward launching a campaign or seriously considering a Republican presidential run are former Secretary of State Mike Pompeo, who’s currently on a book tour; now-former Govs. Larry Hogan of Maryland and Asa Hutchinson of Arkansas; Govs. Chris Sununu of New Hampshire, Kristi Noem of South Dakota and Glenn Youngkin of Virginia; former Gov. Chris Christie of New Jersey and former Rep. Will Hurd of Texas." Don't forget Vivek Ramaswamy, Executive Chairman of Strive Asset Management. The "circular firing squad" needs campaign ammo.

If we have learned nothing else from recent elections, all the polling in the world doesn’t amount to a hill of beans. Things will happen during the primaries, nothing goes as planned, and these polls are fruitless and useless.

I guess I'm one of the few that is looking forward to seeing what the new crop of potential leaders is made of. Trump and DeSantis are definitely the current favorites, but I'm particularly interested in seeing some of the state governors (the position I believe best prepares someone for the presidency). Youngkin, for example has beaten the formidable Democrat machine in Virginia by championing parental rights. I want to hear more. In addition, the primary campaign often reveals who a viable Vice President might be, and presents the crucible in which that person's media skills are developed and put to the test. So, bring it on, as far as I'm concerned.

This is all a game...these contenders are looking for prime time exposure...and hoping to get the nod from President Trump when he wins...it's all about selling air time and book deals...they are all politicians who are looking for a hand out....and desantis is the worse...he's a politician ..he never ran a company in the private section...never earned a paycheck...he lives off the taxpayers....he should stay in Florida....

They’ve all got pluses and minuses for me except for Haley and Christie. They are definite NO’s. Trump is effective but self involved and often childish. DeSantis is a great Governor but has a Republican state legislature that rubber stamps everything he proposes. He’s never faced adversity. Pompeo needs to get off his lofty State Department pedestal and talk about our numerous domestic issues. Time will tell.

One more post, sorry. Don’t count out Ramaswamy. He could be the dark horse. He’s conservative, brilliant, and very articulate. More so than any of the rest. And he’s a businessman, not a politician. Sound familiar?

In January 2022, Jennifer Sey was pushed out of her job as Levi’s global brand president because she advocated for opening public school playgrounds and unmasking toddlers. Woke employees complained, and despite 23 years of loyal service, Levi’s CEO Chip Bergh told her there wasn’t a place for her at the company. Here, Sey reflects on the scandal. It’s been a year since my story of my cancellation went viral, and I think I know why: hypocrisy. Levi’s is known as an all-American brand rooted in rugged individualism. A successful ad campaign that I created as the chief marketing officer exhorted our fans to “use their voices.”

Governor Mike DeWine dropped a truth bomb a few hours ago: he has been in contact with FEMA every day since the disaster in East Palestine unfolded, and the Biden Administration is refusing assistance. Refusing assistance! Perhaps this is why Mayor Pete has refused to go to the site of the disaster, and why he has been joking on TV while one of the largest environmental disasters in recent history has been ongoing.

Jim Biden, the younger brother of Joe, was hired to negotiate a secret deal with the Saudi government on behalf of a U.S. construction company because of his family connection with the then-vice president. That’s not a rumor, that’s documented in bombshell affidavits. The more that comes out about Biden, Inc., the more corrupt the Biden family business dealings look. Jim Biden trades on the family name as Hunter Biden does. Jim Biden was selected to negotiate a $140 million settlement in a secret deal between Hill International and the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia in 2012. Joe Biden was vice-president and Jim was chosen because Saudi Arabia

From the authors of the Great Barrington Declaration–the public health officials and economists who warned that the government’s response to COVID would be a disaster–comes the Norfolk Declaration, which calls for a COVID-19 Commission to look back at the lessons we have, or at least should have learned from the past 3 years. The authors come from diverse backgrounds, but are unified by one central characteristic: they saw the disaster coming and tried to warn us. For their troubles, they were attacked, slandered, censored, and professionally harmed. That is not their focus, though. Rather they want to salvage something from the disaster. As with a post-crash investigation of an airplane accident,

On Sunday afternoon, I got a text from my mother-in-law. She had just seen a news alert that the Federal Aviation Administration and North American Air Defense had temporarily closed the airspace over Lake Michigan. My husband's parents live near the lake and were a bit concerned. “Do I need to go to the basement??” she wrote. She was largely kidding, but at the same time, I think my mother-in-law hit on the unease most of us have felt in recent days, as the United States keeps encountering these unidentified objects in the sky. The object that caused concern over Lake Michigan apparently then floated over the

Democrats and the corporate media have often accused former President Donald Trump of using a propaganda strategy called the “Big Lie” to convince Americans that the 2020 election was stolen. They remind us that Adolf Hitler coined the term in Mein Kampf and that his minister of propaganda, Joseph Goebbels, perfected the technique. Essentially, it involves relentlessly repeating a colossal lie until the public eventually comes to believe it. It is little wonder that the Democrats and the Fourth Estate are so familiar with this strategy — they employ it themselves every election cycle.
Americans Didn't Tune in for State of

Tuesday's State of the Union address sure has gotten attention for the ways in which some Republican members reacted to President Joe Biden's lies, but among the chatter, it's worth wondering if people actually tuned in for the address? Not really, it turns out, given that just 27.3 million people watched, according to data from Nielsen across 16 networks. That's a decline of 29 percent, as is mentioned in Deadline's headline. The Hill mentioned in their headline that the ratings took "a nosedive." Those ratings look even worse when compared to previous years, and the lack of viewers in the demographics that Biden needs support from. As Deadline mentioned:

Joe Biden is running for president again and his second State of the Union address was his campaign manifesto headlined by the notion of "finish the job" as his rallying cry. Most Americans today, however, want Biden to finish up his job and move over for someone else. Clearly, this president has no intention of backing down from an all-out effort to stay in office even as polls show a majority of Democrats want him to stick to one term. First, let’s cover what was not in the speech. Inflation – the nation’s number one problem – got almost no mention.

The environmental disaster taking place in Ohio from a Norfolk Southern derailed train should outrage both sides of the political aisle. After the smoke clears, investigations will take place and most likely will show that there is plenty of blame to be shared, including all levels of government and both political parties. But at the moment, the complete lack of any significant response by the Biden administration is appalling and begs the question why an administration that is hostile to the free market and supports extreme measures to fight climate change is missing in action?

It isn’t a civil rights cause, it isn’t a new form of free expression, it isn’t a natural societal evolution. It’s insanity. And facilitating it, as in the case of the supposed “medical professionals” increasingly pushing it on children, is evil. We’re seeing this in more and more vivid detail as the transgender craze — and it is a craze, make no mistake about that — broadens and touches more and more lives. It’s becoming harder and harder to sustain the myth that chemical castrations and hormone baths and disfiguring surgeries lead to normal lives.

Congressional Democrats rolled out a spending proposal aimed at closing the racial wealth gap on Wednesday, which would give at least $1,000 to every American born after 2005. Sen. Cory Booker (D-NJ) and Rep. Ayanna Pressley (D-MA) introduced the American Opportunity Accounts Act, which would federalize the use of 'baby bonds' for the country's youth to help fight wealth inequality. The program would be funded by raising estate and inheritance taxes. It would result in a major redistribution of wealth to middle and lower-income Americans. Biden, 80, was in the town of Lanham to speak to members of the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers. He referenced the newly-elected 44-year-old governor Wes Moore, a former college football star, and used a word which is seen as a derogative term for black men.
