Are Mask Wearers More Self-Conscious Than Others?

Original Article

Three years after the start of the COVID-19 pandemic, it’s not uncommon to see people wearing masks in public. I try not to judge people when I see someone wearing a mask; after all, the person may have a legitimate need to wear a mask. But what I’ve noticed is that there seem to be a lot of healthy younger people — teenagers and people in their early 20s — who wear masks often, and I have a difficult time understanding it. I’ve had a theory about this phenomenon for some time. I think some people like to keep masking because it makes them feel anonymous. I’m convinced that some people

The ones I see still wearing masks are the older generation. Older Black people almost always still wear masks in stores around here. I suspect that, since they were ordered to wear masks they will wear them until they are ordered not to.

Re #2: We see a few of these, but when we're waiting at a red light, a fearful masked driver gets pointed at and laughed about. The other drivers can have an easy guffaw at an idiot's expense. Soon, people who wear masks inside retail establishments will be regarded as they were before 2020: armed robbers. Enough is enough. Enough disruption of society.

I live in Idaho now, where I see the occasional mask. But just came back from a trip to California to visit friends and family, still quite a few masked there, including people alone in cars, or out walking alone, and many of them look to be in their 20s, crazy. And of course my doctors office here in ID as well (part of St Luke’s). Makes me question whether I get real medical advice, or just directions to follow The Narrative. No masks required in my dermatologist’s office, but they’re still independent, have been assimilated (yet).

Had a doctor appointment with my cardiologist last week. Masks were not required. Some people were still wearing masks though. I can see people taking extra precautions if they themselves are very ill or are living with someone that is very ill. Beyond that, it becomes paranoia.

I used to be critical of mask wearers, but I get it. People are afraid; there's a lot going on out here. Most of them can't point to where it's all coming from, but they know something isn't right. I have asthma, but I'm blessed to not catch colds or have the flu very often. Sometimes I'll try to wear a mask outside my home because/when I'm more susceptible to catching colds/flu. It’s not necessarily a bad idea if you live in a place like Northern Virginia where you constantly come into contact with people who frequently travel back and forth to third world countries. I don’t want their diseases. I work with people from India who all have relatives with TB- I don’t want to expose myself and my family to that. The government is not protecting me so I need to protect myself. I was stationed in Japan where people have masked up in public for years. It seemed like a good idea.

EPA administrator Michael Regan insists that air and water in East Palestine, Ohio is “safe” following the Norfolk Southern train derailment on February 3rd. But should anyone believe him? In 2016, Christine Todd Whitman, who was the head of the EPA under President George W. In the days following the collapse of the Twin Towers — which sent dangerous plumes of debris and toxins into the air over Manhattan — Whitman issued a

In attempting to make sense of things, one should always look to the insights of the wise and the experienced. But one should also heed the occasional ill-considered outbursts of loud-mouthed idiots, since these too can be quite enlightening. A ranting partisan sometimes gives the game away by thoughtlessly blurting out the cynical thinking behind their own lousy ideas. Such inadvertent and ill-advised slips make it far easier to emotionally reverse engineer partisan stances that more skilled advocates all too often succeed in dressing up as serious proposals. When Republicans took control of the House of Representatives in 1994,

Some of my friends think Biden has been a punching bag for conservatives, while others can't believe how much Biden gets away with. Since both can't be true, which is it? Biden may be the least transparent president in history, although he claims the contrary. Biden has done just 22 media interviews, fewer than any of his six most recent White House predecessors at this point in their presidencies. Why? By avoiding answering revealing questions, could he be seeking to make it all go away? There are two primary reasons Biden does not meet with the public more often.

I argue here, against a small but vocal conservative faction, that we should continue this aid. There has been plenty of unhelpful hyperbole on both sides of the debate. Prominent pro-Ukrainers have attempted to equate opposition to Ukrainian aid as opposition to democracy itself. Joe Biden acquired his job through a legal process. However, he did not earn enough verifiable votes to justify the certifications in six key swing states. This issue is addressed in my new book, but here is some of my reasoning. I have limited myself to one example of unverifiable votes for each of those swing states. Arizona At an Arizona Senate Committee hearing on January 24, 2022, we learned that precisely 95 percent of Maricopa County overseas military members (and their families) voted for Joe Biden. That is an amazing (as in phony) percentage, given that the overall county-wide vote was fairly even between Biden and Trump (51 to 49%).
