Joe Biden on Wednesday apologized for the 'unimaginable cruelty' of slavery, which he referred to as America's 'original sin', and pledged $55 billion in investment to the continent.
Speaking during a gathering of almost all African leaders in Washington DC - the first since Barack Obama convened a summit in 2014 - Biden expressed regret for the past, but insisted: 'The United States is all in on Africa's future.'
During a White House dinner honoring African leaders and their spouses, Biden addressed what he called America's 'original sin' - the enslavement of millions of people - and honored their descendants and the broader African diaspora community in the United States.

A black California businessman demanded $600,000 from California taxpayers during the first meeting of the state's reparations task force on Wednesday. Deliberations began on how to quantify how financial compensation might be calculated and what might be required to prove eligibility. One of those who spoke at the public hearing was 35-year-old entrepreneur and the first black professional tri-athlete, Max Fennell who said that every person should get $350,000 in compensation to close the racial wealth gap and Black-owned businesses should receive $250,000, which would help them to flourish. Fennell added: 'It's a debt that's owed, we worked for free,'

Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg was on vacation in Portugal for a week amid tense negotiations to avert a national rail strike earlier this year, it was revealed on Wednesday.
The trip spanned August 29 through the following Monday, Labor Day, a statement by the Department of Transportation to DailyMail.com confirms.
A spokesperson for the department said he was 'traveling on personal time' but remained 'engaged on urgent issues.'
They said the trip had been 'long planned' in advance.
It was reported earlier this week that Buttigieg took at least 18 flights on taxpayer-funded private jets since joining the Cabinet, despite leading calls to cut CO2 emissions.

Just how desperate are the Democrats in terms of their weak bench of candidates to replace Joe Biden? Well, they’re desperate enough to actually be talking about Pete Bugttigieg as a potential 2024 nominee and corporate media is fluffing up the theory. Politico featured a “West Wing playbook” article yesterday describing the Transportation Secretary’s “campaign in waiting.” In it, they describe how various dark money groups are keeping a stream of donations coming in with the theme, “Win the Era.” This funding infrastructure has allegedly allowed Mayor Pete to “maintain a political footprint” and keep his options open while not broadcasting his loftier ambitions.

Puerto Ricans could move a step closer to a referendum on whether the island should become a U.S. state when the House of Representatives votes Thursday on a bill outlining the process.
A House committee approved the Puerto Rico Status Act on Wednesday, paving the way for the full House vote. The bill was cosponsored by Representative Nydia Velazquez, a Democrat from New York.
The legislation lays out terms of a plebiscite as well as three potential self-governing statuses - independence, full US statehood or sovereignty with free association with the United States.

Back in 2010, RNC Chair Michael Steele was heavily criticized and eventually lost his position because donors were angry about what they believed was luxurious spending on private jets, floral arrangements, chauffeur services, and member meetings in expensive tropical locales. Donors were used to frugality from the RNC under the George W. Bush administration, when “Karl Rove would b***h if there were flowers on the tables” and staff holiday parties were catered by Chick-fil-A.
Despite Joe Biden’s economy and three straight cycles of election losses, the RNC’s big-spending days are back with a vengeance.

Forty-one House Democrats filed a bill on Thursday to bar former President Donald Trump from running for president in 2024, citing section 3 of the 14th Amendment.
“Donald Trump very clearly engaged in an insurrection on January 6, 2021 with the intention of overturning the lawful and fair results of the 2020 election. You don’t get to lead a government you tried to destroy,” Rep. David Cicilline (D-RI) wrote in a press release:
Even Mitch McConnell admits that Trump bears responsibility, saying on the Senate floor that ‘[t]here’s no question, none, that President Trump is practically and morally responsible for provoking the events of the day.’

Former House Speaker John Boehner (R-OH) became choked up on Wednesday as he spoke about House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) at a ceremony for the unveiling of Pelosi’s speaker’s portrait.
Boehner, who is known for crying, was speaking during the event about his and his family’s appreciation for Pelosi, whom he succeeded in 2011, when Boehner became tearful.
“Madam Speaker, I have to say, my girls told me, ‘Tell the speaker how much we admire her,’” Boehner said as tears filled his eyes and the crowd applauded.
He then added with a laugh, “If you couldn’t tell, my girls are Democrats.”

*Guest post by Olivia Wolfe --Living in a cage lined by rat droppings and gagged by the stench of urine, Barry Ramey has been focused more on surviving death threats from known gang members than preparing for his February 21st trial in front of a jury of Trump-deranged DC democrats.
Ramey, a legally innocent pretrial detainee, was slashed with a knife across his face by a convicted criminal that he is housed with in the Northern Neck Regional Jail. Ramey has not been convicted of any crimes.

Over the weekend, a massive caravan of more than 5,000 crossed the southern border in what is described as “a stunning surge that shocked immigration agents, neighboring towns, and state officials.”
Where will these illegals end up? Most likely, everywhere inside the U.S., courtesy of several non-profit groups that are working with the Biden administration in an under-the-radar mass resettlement effort.
An investigation by the Heritage Foundation tracked more than 30,000 cell phones that arrived at Customs and Border Control facilities or dozens of non-profits at or near the southern border in January 2022.
