Thanksgiving Lessons

Thursday, if you eat a nice meal, thank the Pilgrims. They made Thanksgiving possible. They left the Old World to escape religious persecution. They imagined a new society where everyone worked together and shared everything. In other words, they dreamed of socialism. Socialism then almost killed them. As I explain in my weekly video, the Pilgrims attempted collective farming. The whole community decided when and how much to plant, when to harvest and who would do the work. Gov. William Bradford wrote in his diary that he thought that taking away property and bringing it into a commonwealth would make the Pilgrims "happy and flourishing." It didn't. Soon, there wasn't enough food.

Excellent article. Too bad that most young people today where taught something very different. I had a teenage grandson, "reeducate" me recently about the Pilgrims hatred of the Indians. What is most painful is that when he was eight he devoured the Rush Revere series including the first book "The Brave Pilgrim's." He's getting biographies of William Bradford and Squanto for Christmas. Nine years later, he spouts the words of his Social Studies teacher. Now, at this time of year, time I miss Rush so much more. His wisdom and common sense, educated us as wall as comforted and bolstered our confidence to continue the fight for TRUTH. I don't think it's possible to contemplate how much the loss of Rush has boosted the other side. I'm sorry but "Clay and Buck" may have the time-slot, and, though they seem to be very nice guys, they lack the wisdom and insight to fill Rush's flip flops. Where Rush did not participate in the social media sewer, C&B revel in it.

After all these hundreds of years and all the failures of socialism at every level "they" still think "they" can make it work before all of the others didn't do it right. No wonder the brats thinks we should pay for their useless college degree. Look whom the professors are, look at the idiot in our WH, look at the fools we keep sending to Congress. I never thought the belief of freedom and personal responsibility would become evil ideas. Everybody gets a trophy, everybody gets a certificate of achievement, everybody is valedictorian, no testing, no judgement, no grading or being cut from the team. No exceptionalism, no glory, no achievements. We had better decide quickly which avenue we want America to go down. I want the good, the bad, the ugly, the wonderful. I want it all. Not mediocrity. If we are all the same what difference does it all make?

One of my ancestors was sent by the sponsors of the Pilgrims about 9 years after they arrived to find out why they had not received any payback. (Yes, they didnt have enough money to pay for a leaky old boat.) He evaluated the system with Bradford, saw the change was working then decided to stay. He sent for his family and lived the rest of his life on Cape Cod. His grandchildren spread inland.

In all the years we studied the pilgrims in school, never was this discussed. I was in my 30's before I heard these stories. I'm sure that wasn't an accident.

I learned - in public school! - that the first Virginia colony failed because of socialism. I suspect that I learned that becuse a generation of new male teachers, 1950 forward, were combat veterans of WWII. Then the next wave of new teachers was composed of draft evading cowards, to some extent, against the Viet Nam war.(But probably against any war)

The observations of #5 about how we wound up with cowardly American hater teachers in the education system is important. It is much worse in the colleges, which became a haven of draft dodgers like Bill Clinton and Joe Biden who were riding out the war with draft deferments. A lot of them did not have the motivation to make a changes in their lives and just stayed on the campuses, surrounded by their like kind.

Americans are ready to move on from the current Republican leadership, choosing to vote out Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell. According to a new Rasmussen Reports Poll, just 28 percent of likely voters have a favorable view of McConnell, while 61 percent say the GOP needs a new leader. Following his win, McConnell, who is the longest-serving GOP leader in Senate history, said that he doesn’t plan to give up his position anytime soon. However, several Republicans feel that new, younger leadership is needed in Congress. "Nobody, not Republicans, not independents, not Democrats in my state are happy with the leadership in Washington. I'm not either.

“Two possibilities exist: either we are alone in the Universe or we are not. Both are equally terrifying.” “I’m sure the universe is full of intelligent life. It’s just been too intelligent to come here.” ― Arthur C. Clarke I am old enough to remember the Apollo Project. One of the things I recall, besides Saturday morning cartoons being interrupted by shots of the astronauts, was the return of Apollo 11. The astronauts were placed in quarantine because no one was entirely sure that they had not picked up any strange things while being exposed to the moon dust on their suits and tools.

On Thanksgiving Day, families come together around the dinner table to give thanks and repeat the yearly tradition of debating which sides and staples are the best. When families blend together, there is often a clash of traditions and menus that may not reach the level of controversy of politics, but can still be the cause of heated disagreements. So, what are the best staples of Thanksgiving? I’ll compare a few and offer my thoughts. Cranberry sauce vs. cranberry relish Frankly, it was a long time before I even knew there was a question about this. But, eventually I learned that a lot people have an affinity for cranberry sauce at Thanksgiving—

Just ask Jamal Hinton and Wanda Dench, total strangers who met seven years ago after a text message seeking Thanksgiving plans went wrong. On Tuesday, Nov. 22, Hinton shared a photo standing beside Dench outside a Cheesecake Factory restaurant, revealing the two accidental friends are carrying on their viral tradition that began totally by chance. “To answer all your questions, yes Thanksgiving year 7 is planned out! See you guys Thursday!” Hinton captioned the photo with turkey and black heart emojis. [Tweet]

A national freight rail strike is viewed as increasingly inevitable as four rail worker labor unions have rejected a tentative agreement with rail companies. In September, Secretary of Labor Marty Walsh brokered a tentative deal between rail unions and rail carriers while President Joe Biden and Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg were out of town. Union concerns centered around sick time and scheduling, and Walsh’s work appeared to have avoided a strike that had the potential for far-reaching consequences on the American economy. However, the deal has fallen to pieces, and the clock is ticking as a December 9 strike looms. On Monday, members of SMART Transportation Division,

If you’re a serious news outlet seeking an in-depth, nuanced analysis of the political landscape in America, about the last person you’d call on is Omarosa Manigault Newman. So, it’s no surprise that MSNBC dragged the coattail-riding Trump critic out, dusted her off, and asked her about Ivanka Trump’s recent announcement that she would “not be involved in politics” in the 2024 election cycle. According to Omarosa, who rose to fame as a contestant on former President Donald Trump’s reality show, The Apprentice, and later disgraced herself as a member of Trump’s administration, the timing of Ivanka’s announcement, which coincided with her father’s official 2024 declaration, was meant to cause “damage.”

Joe Biden sees himself as the only Democrat who can 'slay' Donald Trump in the 2024 election, it has been claimed. The 80 year-old president regularly reminds people he is the only person who has beaten Trump, and he remains confident that he's the man to repeat that feat in 2024, The New York Times reported. Biden previously billed himself as a single term transitional president who'd bridge the gap between the chaos of the Trump years, and the emergence of a younger Democrat successor. But he's since announced a plan to run again in 2024, despite already being the oldest president in US history.  'Why would he get out now?'
