Skyrocketing demand for domestically sourced lithium to meet federal goals for zero-emission technologies has developers planning for the next great mining boon in the Silver State, but a rare wildflower may stymie one proposed project. The site of a proposed lithium mine in western Nevada's Silver Peak Range also happens to be the only known place on Earth where a rare wildflower grows in the wild. Environmentalists say the plant is on the verge of extinction, and it's being considered by the Fish and Wildlife Service for protection under the Endangered Species Act. I really don't understand these people. They destroyed the farms of California's Central Valley over a small fish, and the logging industry in the Northwest over the spotted owl. While they promote, wind farms and solar farms that kill birds of prey, bats and desert species.
Now a new dilemma. They need tons of Lithium for their EV batteries and but this tiny wild flower is in the way. Who will prevail?

1, there's no dilemma for them. They don't understand that lithium and other things required for most green stuff has to be mined.
They never suffer from cognitive dissonance.

I’m all in for the wildflower! It must be protected at all costs. Cmon people let’s hit them with their own rules that’s an Alinsky tactic.

Karma, BOOM! Let's see them talk their way out of this one. The survival of the whole planet vs a wildflower weed. This is just too precious.

We don't need any more lithium batteries. EVs are a danger, and nearly worthless as anything but secondary commuter toys for the rich.
I'm fine with stopping this mine.

Any plant or animal that is so specific and needy has already lost the race for survival. It survival affects little. It's demise will be forgotten.
Or... you can just admit that we don't need battery powered green idiocies.

This is an example of what happens when you create a Party out of diverse special interest groups. The upcoming in-fighting will weaken the cohesion of the Party, which IMHO, is not a bad thing.

The Left and stupid all-of-the-above approach to energy Republicans are more than happy to kill thousands of protected birds like golden eagles every year by their beloved wind turbines, so who cares about some plants.

How do they know that it doesn’t grow anywhere else in the world?
I recall when “the king’s mullet ponds" on the Kona Coast of the Big Island in Hawaii were a stumbling block in the development of a major hotel and golf course complex. Supposedly the ponds were home to rare shrimp that only were found there and would be lost forever. One morning new “ponds” were bulldozed in another location along the coast. Within virtually no time they were full of the same rare shrimp. That roadblock crumbled and the project proceeded to completion. Initially a Hyatt resort, it is now the Hilton Waikoloa Village.

PS. If this will keep the same “environmentalists” from forcing EVs on us, I say "save the buckwheat!"

This is idiocy, move the damn flowers and if they can't adopt so be it. To refuse to mine a vital product just to protect a flower is idiocy.

Mining for anything should offend the left but then there's good mining then there's bad/evil mining. These screwballs on the left can't make up their simple minds. FJB

At some point nobody will be allowed to do anything, literally. Even breathing will violate some woke ideal about killing bacteria in the air with our immune systems.

Every EV know-it-all believes that we just need to do this until Unobtainium becomes available. Unobtainium will usher in the paradise that the Communists want, but only after they rid the planet of those who live in the real world.
