Russian court upholds WNBA star Brittney
Griner's 9-year prison sentence

A Russian court on Tuesday upheld American basketball star Brittney Griner's nine-year prison sentence for drug possession, rejecting her appeal in a session where she appeared via video call from a penal colony outside Moscow. Griner can still appeal to a higher court, but her lawyers have yet to confirm whether they will take the case further. The decision clears the way for the WNBA star to serve nine years in a penal colony, unless the U.S. government negotiates a deal. The eight-time all-star center with the WNBA's Phoenix Mercury and a two-time Olympic gold medalist was convicted on August

I would hope that Biden’s push for conflict with Russia over Ukraine isn’t influenced somehow by this battle over the release of Griner in the name of gay rights. Who knows what is motivating these hapless idiots.

Biden won’t help her. He has surrendered any bargaining power with his Ukraine policies. Of course, democrats don’t have a reputation for negotiating the release of Americans anywhere. I guess there are still thousands in Afghanistan and this administration, which could have prevented the entire debacle, failed miserably. Don’t put your trust in democrats ever. They are soulless ideologues whose only interest is power. They don’t have time to negotiate on behalf of American citizens. While this girl certainly knew the rules, she made a terrible decision and it looks like she is going to pay for it with 9 years of her life. She will come back a radical anti-American if she is not one already. Then democrats will celebrate her.

Brittney will now be free to master the Russian language, learn the intricacies of Slavic cuisine, and perhaps earn an all expenses paid trip to scenic Siberia. There she will be given and interesting 'Introduction to Geology' with extensive field work uncovering rock specimens exposed by glaciers thousands of years ago. In her leisure time, with permission of uniformed proctors, she might become an instructor of basketball theory and history with emphasis upon it's origin in the country she has said many times she hates. But her primary focus will be to reduce in size specimens of granite and igneous rock into sizes of more useful proportions. The trans-Siberian railway will always be in need of her skills, for example, not for political or basketball purposes but ballast for the now totally electrified system. Let us all wish Brittney Griner success in her new endeavor. We know she hates us, but that can be overlooked.

FTA: At the time, Griner was returning to Russia, where she played during the U.S. league's offseason. Media portrays her as a misguided tourist when in reality, she's lived and worked in Russia for a number of years and would certainly be aware of their drug laws.

Starting with phrases like "Please don't take my blanket away again" and "If I break more rocks than my quota today , can I have another turnip in my soup? " will no doubt be very handy in her new life in the Gulag. After 8 years she'll likely be fluent!

#13. Sorry, but what about the jan 6 "political prisoners". They are almost there 2 years and for what? "Trespass" and "Parading". Both misdemeanors. Murderers are only getting 2 1/2 years. You want to talk about INJUSTICE. Or how about the pro life activists. They want to put them in prison for 11 years and 3 years probation after that. One grandmother is over 80 and a Holocaust Survivor. How well do YOU think she will fare in prison. And for "singing" and "praying" at a PP facility. (paid for by the taxpayers). Gee I wonder how many college protesters we can imprison for protesting and disrupting until they cancel a conservative speaker. "Equal justice under the law" No More. Too bad Brittney's "wife" is too dense to comprehend that: 1) Brittney broke the law, confessed, was found guilty, and is serving her sentence. She is not some "political prisoner" -- she is a convicted drug smuggler under Russian law. And 2) None of this would have happened of Donald Trump were still president. I bet she is so proud that she and Brittney so proudly voted for Senile Joe bidet in 2020!!!!!

Democrats’ path to maintaining their razor-thin US Senate majority in the final days of the midterm campaigns was narrowed by John Fetterman’s rocky debate performance in Pennsylvania on the heels of an underwhelming showing from Raphael Warnock in Georgia earlier this month. Fetterman, the Democratic lieutenant governor, struggled to string together sentences in his debate against Republican Mehmet Oz for a US Senate seat, putting on display his challenges in recovering from a May stroke. He also had trouble articulating his policy positions, which left him unable to blame his health entirely. Less than two weeks ago, Warnock, a senator
