At first blush I’m inclined to see Jose Ruben Zamora as the Latin version of Jamal Khashoggi; which is to say, he glows CIA.
Yesterday in Guatemala, the government arrested a “journalist” and “businessman” named Jose Ruben Zamora who was the publisher of a national newspaper and strong opposition voice against the conservative government of President Alejandro Giammattei [WSJ link]. Today, Guatemalan President Giammattei is reported to have survived an assassination attempt, leaving people injured as a result of gunfire [details sketchy].

After a state judge refused to disqualify U.S. Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-Ga.) from the ballot, the left-wing group that challenged her candidacy on insurrection grounds is appealing the judge’s ruling to the Georgia Supreme Court.
The state court threw out the challenge on July 25. The appeal was filed July 28.
Greene, an outspoken supporter of former President Donald Trump, represents Georgia’s 14th congressional district. The Christian conservative is known for making strongly worded, often controversial statements. A first-term lawmaker now seeking a second term, she won the Republican primary in her district on May 24 with 70.4 percent of the vote.

The U.S. government has reached a new deal with Moderna for 65 million additional COVID-19 vaccine doses, the Biden administration announced on July 29.
The deal is valued at $1.7 billion.
Moderna will sell doses of its vaccine that target Omicron subvariants, according to the agencies that announced the agreement. The actual contract has not yet been made public.
Moderna and other vaccine makers have been updating their COVID-19 vaccine formulations because the vaccines are based on the Wuhan strain, which has not been prevalent since 2020. The vaccines have proven increasingly worse at protecting recipients as newer variants emerge.

This week Angelenos got some good news when the county health director announced that, for now, she will not subject them to another indoor mask mandate. But the announcement begs the question: How is it that she continues to have the power to issue such mandates nearly two and a half years after the emergency was first declared?
The answer is the “emergency” order remains in place, and so does the director’s mandate that masks be worn in taxis, Ubers, airports, and healthcare settings.
Los Angeles County first declared a state of emergency due to COVID-19 on March 4, 2020.

Hanover, a city in the northwest of Germany, has become the first major metropolitan area to try and reduce the use of natural gas by removing hot water from public buildings. The move comes as natural gas supplies from Russia are reduced to 20% of capacity. Germany is attempting to fill up storage facilities of natural gas in order to survive the winter.
Germany, together with several European countries, are telling their citizens to expect large increases in their electricity bills as energy costs continue to skyrocket.

You’ve probably heard or read about the Western attempt to suborn Russian pilots to defect along with a military plane or planes. Friend George brought a Russian article to my attention. It’s a fairly full account, so I’m pasting it in. As you may or may not have learned already, the effort backfired totally, with the Russians obtaining valuable intelligence regarding the location of air defenses in Ukraine. The Russians have also, naturally, taken advantage of the situation to ridicule Western intel services, specifically naming MI6.(snip)This is a Google translate job, so I can’t vouch for the word choices—some are a bit suspect, although the overall accuracy seems good.

Two more Texas counties confirmed they have declared an invasion at the U.S.–Mexico border in recent days amid historically high illegal immigration.
The Parker County Commissioners Court unanimously voted this week to invoke a law to say that the United States and Texas are under invasion, local media reported.
Because of the significant presence of illegal immigration and drug trafficking, the declaration says it is “an invasion of Parker County, Texas, as the term ‘invasion’ is used in Article IV, Section 4 of the U.S. Constitution and in Article 4, Section 7 of the Texas Constitution.”

A 104-page report issued three months after the events at the Capitol Building on Jan. 6, 2021, said the Capitol Police’s Civil Disturbance Unit (CDU) was ordered by supervisors not to use “heavier, less-lethal weapons,” like flash bangs. However, video evidence—along with Capitol Police Use of Force Reports obtained exclusively by The Epoch Times—exposes conflicts in timelines, the brutality of the unprovoked attacks against Jan. 6 protesters, and how leadership ordered the deployment of munitions on a peaceful crowd. A recent filing by House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) shows that her financier husband Paul Pelosi offloaded nearly $5 million worth of graphics card giant Nvidia shares just days before House lawmakers are set to consider legislation that would provide billions in government subsidies for U.S. semiconductor production.
In a periodic transaction report signed on Tuesday, Pelosi disclosed (pdf) that her husband sold 25,000 shares of Nvidia at an average price of $165.05 with a total loss of $341,365.
In total, the shares are worth between $1 million and $5 million.
According to an earlier filing this month (pdf), Paul Pelosi exercised 200 call options, or 20,000 shares, of Nvidia

An intelligence analyst behind the FBI’s botched Trump-Russia collusion probe is now accused of using the bureau’s authority to discredit reports about Hunter Biden’s criminal activity months before the 2020 presidential election.
Meet Brian Auten. The FBI analyst is hardly a household name, but whistleblowers who contacted the office of GOP senator Chuck Grassley say he was behind an August 2020 report that FBI officials used as part of a "scheme…to undermine derogatory information connected to Hunter Biden by falsely suggesting it was disinformation."
Auten’s report also caused the FBI "to cease" investigative activity into the younger Biden, according to a letter Grassley sent the Justice Department and FBI.

An FBI agent involved in the Russia collusion hoax weaponized against former President Donald Trump is the same one now implicated by whistleblowers in using his position to discredit evidence related to Hunter Biden’s foreign entanglements right before the 2020 election, Chuck Ross with The Washington Free Beacon reports.
(snip) whistleblowers who reached out to GOP Sen. Chuck Grassley about the FBI’s suppression of the Hunter Biden investigation identified intelligence analyst Brian Auten as the man responsible for constructing an FBI report in August 2020, which the whistleblowers say the FBI used as a “scheme … to undermine derogatory information connected to Hunter Biden by falsely suggesting it was disinformation.”

Former Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) Director Robert Redfield rejected White House adviser Anthony Fauci’s claims that it’s more likely COVID-19 originated naturally.
In a recent interview, Fauci said he has an “open mind” but still believes that the virus occurred naturally after previously dismissing the theory that it emerged from the Wuhan Institute of Virology in late 2019.(Snip)
When asked about Fauci’s recent comments on Monday, Redfield told Fox News that he still suspects COVID-19 emerged “from the laboratory” and “had to be educated in the laboratory to gain the efficient human-to-human transmission capability that it has.”
Comments:
A tyrant to take her place with the infamous Fauci, Birx and the rest. Looking like a bad embalming job, PhD Barbara Ferrer enjoys controlling huge Los Angeles County. This time cities are breaking free of her threatened mask mandate restart, so she has “paused” it. Bravo to Pasadena and other cities that have said NO!
