As the nation sinks inexplicably into self-created crisis after crisis, debate rages whether President Joe Biden is incompetent, mean-spirited, or an ideologue who feels the country’s mess is his success. A second national discussion revolves around who actually is overseeing the current national catastrophe, given Biden’s frequent bewilderment and cognitive challenges. But one area of agreement is the sheer craziness of Biden’s cabinet appointments, who have translated his incoherent ideology into catastrophic governance. Secretary of Homeland Security Alejandro Mayorkas has essentially nullified federal immigration law. Over 2 million foreign nationals have illegally crossed the southern border without audit — and without COVID vaccinations and tests during a pandemic.

Before we even knew how the killer of 19 children and two adults at Robb Elementary School in Uvalde, Texas, had obtained his guns, Sen. Chris Murphy was engaging in his customary performative emotionalism on the Senate floor, literally begging Republicans to “compromise.”
Compromise on what exactly? Murphy has never once offered a single proposal that would have deterred any of these mass shooters. Literally minutes after his routine, Murphy was asked about the obvious mental illness prevalent among most of these shooters. “Spare me the bulls— about mental illness,” the Connecticut senator responded, “ripping” the GOP. “We don’t have any more mental illness than any other country in the world.”
Video emerging online from Tuesday’s schoolchildren massacre in Uvalde, Texas shows local police more concerned with stopping parents than stopping the killer.
Parents were pleading, “Give me the vest, I’ll go in there!” but some ended up in handcuffs instead of vests.
Before you watch this video, please remember that these are Robb Elementary School parents who have been waiting fruitlessly outside of their own children’s school while a madman was allowed all the time in the world to complete his rampage.

When the shooter is white, the problem is “white supremacy.” White people are evil and here is the proof.
When the shooter is a minority, blame easy access to guns, usually by attacking the NRA, which is run by “selfish, conservative, white, gun nuts.” The race of the shooter has nothing to do with it.

I just watched President Joe Biden take a stab at playing the role of America's "mourner in chief," a role his Democratic predecessor, Bill Clinton, managed quite well. That may, in fact, have been the only thing Clinton did that actually helped the country. For all his many failings, Clinton knew the importance of helping people cope with tragedy.
Unfortunately, Joe Biden didn't crib this page from Bill Clinton's playbook. He made it partisan fairly quickly, blaming the tragedy on the "gun lobby" and "gun manufacturers."
Yet he started out well.

In what conservatives will surely label a “sell-out” by Sen. Mitch McConnell (R-Ky.), the Senate Minority Leader on Thursday “encouraged” Senate Minority Whip John Cornyn (R-Texas) to work with Senate Democrats to “find a consensus on some legislation to respond to the shooting in Texas.”
Translation: Gun-control legislation.
As reported by CNN, McConnell met with Cornyn early Thursday and encouraged the senior senator from Texas to begin discussions with key Democrats, including Sens. Chris Murphy of Connecticut and Kyrsten Sinema of Arizona, to see if they can find a middle ground on legislation.
