Supreme Court Justice Amy Coney Barrett refused Friday to block the construction of the Obama Presidential Center in Chicago as demanded by an environmental group. The groundbreaking for former President Barack Obama‘s namesake library and presidential archives center began earlier this week, but Protect Our Parks, an environmental advocacy group, asked the high court to stop the construction. The group lost multiple requests in lower courts to halt the construction of the Obama center because it is located in a public park, Jackson Park on Chicago‘s South Side.(Snip)The activists argued that 800 trees would be destroyed around the park and affect birds.

That’s fine. Let Obama and the SCOTUS and the City of Chicago own this debacle. Works for me. Sometimes it takes a disaster like this ill-conceived, overhyped, mis-located (due to O-Ego) great pyramid to get The People really riled up.

Suddenly we're all concerned with homeless birds? If this was the PDT Presidential Library many would be cheering the same decision.

She's been a yuge disappointment so far - - but - - I disagree with criticisms of Amy Coney Island on this one. The net result is that she's sticking it to the fake enviro-whackos. Sure - - it benefits the despicable Little 0bie - - but it's about time someone kicked the enviro-nuts.
Nice work, Amy!

I strongly agree with #9. The arguments advanced by these environmentalists are the same ones they use to delay reasonable highways or oil and gas pipelines, etc., from being built. They litigate these stupid issues long after environmental impact statements have been completed, then finally agree to settle if the developer/pipeline company, etc., agrees to pay their attorneys' fees for all the crap they've put the developers through. It's good to see these phony arguments dismissed by the SCOTUS, even if their current opponent happens to be the Odious Obie. Who's going to want to visit this "library" if they risk being shot in a Chicago drive-by while they're walking there?

I have to agree with Barrett about this. Why should federal courts decide if Chicago can cut down trees in a city park?
Unless some state laws are being ignored or some other restrictions apply to the site. I haven't read of any.

If anyone connected to the Obie Play House was interested in free enterprise, they would take to wood from these 800 trees and make nice stuff that could be used to pay for the Play House.
