Commuters driving into downtown Boise the morning of Aug. 13 may have seen a new colorful billboard sign that reads “Black & Brown Folks Built This Country / (And We’re Doing It Again) / Join Us Or Get Out Of The Way.” It’s a strong phrase, and activist/organizer Tanisha Jae Newton said they are radically unapologetic about it.
“This message is for folks within impacted communities to know that people recognize them and see them and their power,” said Newton. “These communities need hope and empowerment.”

BLM got millions in contribution from “woke” corporations like Amazon. Looks like they’re able to buy plenty of billboard space. There needs to be counter-ads against this propaganda. What’s going on in Boise? Aren’t there a lot of conservatives?

If "black and brown folks" built this country, how come Africa and the Middle East are such messes? Shouldn't they be superpowers by now?

At first I thought that billboard was a cartoon, fake. " Join us or get out of they way " ? Is that a threat ? Also, they take all the credit for the " building " of America " Really ? " They " wrote our Constitution " ? our Bill of Rights ? Wasn't " them " who invented the phone, the airplane, radio, the electric light, refrigeration, the computer chip, internal combustion engine, T.V. , the movies, etc. So really , who did build America ? Only people that want to rule threaten and divide.

Boise has a “progressive” mayor, unfortunately. From her transition team: The City of Boise is deeply committed to being a place that is equitable, safe and thriving for everyone. And in this time of national crisis, the City of Boise deepens this resolve by building meaningful relationships with vulnerable communities facing injustice and inequality. By enacting and embodying practices, policies and procedures that will interrupt the harmful impacts of one’s targeted status, we hope to build the future our children and families dream of and hope for now. These communities include black, indigenous, Latinx and people of color, people with disabilities, people who identify as LGBTQIA+ or non-binary, and people who are immigrants, undocumented or resettled through the refugee process. This is an opportunity to create meaningful reforms, and through this, the City of Boise hopes to become a model for the rest of Idaho and the country.

Plus the usual free abortion for all, pre-k sex Ed, sanctuary status, don’t cooperate with ICE, etc. it’s sad, our kids and grandkids are now there and we’ve bought a home in Meridian, adjacent to Boise, for our eventual escape from California. Looks like there won’t be anywhere left to escape to.

Great encouragement for all the lazy, freeloading people of non-color to get to work so they can move to nice places built by these "folks".

Of all the Sub Saharan African countries two have never been ruled by White Europeans - Liberia and Ethiopia. And they are the worst basket cases in all respects. This whole thing is completely nonsensical, deliberately floated now that the election is nearing.

B.S. They didn't build this country. For proof, all you have to do is look at Africa and Central and South America. That's where Black and Brown folks are in charge and for the most part, those aren't good places. It is a shame they have to tell themselves lies to make themselves feel good about themselves.

If they are so all powerful, why do they need white people. We should just sit on the sidelines and watch how they rebuild Minneapolis, Settle and Portland. Oh...San Francisco too

Back at you, BLM. You didn't build this country, or at least not alone. All our predesesors were all in it, together. Your ancestors worked hard,, but so did Irishman, polish,, Italian and German. Denigrate them, you denigrate tourselves.
And now you are shaming your ancestors by destroying and sullying what they built, perverting the dreams they aspired to. Are you proud?
King said, "I have a dream, that one day my children will be judged NOT by the color of their skin, but by the content of their CHARACTER..."
Have you shown any character, lately? Is it that of a builder? A protector? A creator?
Or are you simply a thug backed by rich white men?

Boise? Really? Scary thought if Idaho has fallen to this kind of mindset. That billboard should be full of bullet holes by now...or sawed off entirely.

"Black and brown folks built this country" is the most idiotic, laughable garbage ever printed or said. Those "folks" have certainly done more to tear it down and any other. It is ridiculous to state that crime-riddled, free-loading, drug-addled groups contribute anything other than misery.

By any means necessary...does that include the murder of white 5 year olds? Some blacks have gone on record stating that whites will have to die for them to get their way. There is nothing peaceful about this. Letting it go on emboldens the protestors and strengthens them. There will be no peaceful resolution. The Marxist and Communist left has gone unchecked. The media has supported them. The Democrats have welcomed them with open arms. The Republicans offer no alternative. And Trump is a man alone.

Yep, lots of important contributions, like over half of all murders, the majority of other violent crime, absorbing the majority of welfare, food stamps, government housing and free lunches. Certainly the welfare state would be so much "sparser" without them to bring their hands out to the programs.

You mean That horrible racist America the left is all resistance-ing?
That America?
Doesn't seem like the kind of thing they would want to brag on, does it?
And, no, this one will not be helping them build any
evil, racist, America again.
And you shouldn't either.

Tanisha claims that the billboard is provocative but not violent. Seriously?
The message seemed threatening to me as I'm sure it is to others.
I would be "getting out of the way" and not because I'm racist.
I try to treat everyone no matter the person's ethnicity with kindness, dignity, and respect. Sounds like that's not sufficient for Tanisha. Well..... tough; that's all they're getting from me. Deal with it!

I was born and raised in Idaho. Lived in rural eastern Oregon for 35 years, but that state is broken so I moved back to the Treasure Valley 5 years ago. I had no idea how liberal Boise had become. However, if you read the comments after the article, there may be hope. There is currently a recall petition for the mayor and a racist city council member, Lisa Sanchez.

Boise native here. Not to worry, the good conservative citizens of Boise complained in droves and shut this nonsense down toot sweet. Currently collecting signatures to recall our Soros-funded mayor and a racist liberal on the city council. If you're in Boise, please sign the recall petitions ASAP. We're about to send them a BIG message.

#28, too many of the refugees from California liberalism brought with them the same politics that ruined their home state. In 2019 the city elected a leftist mayor. That this billboard, and #Defund demonstrations, are appearing along with the new city administration is no coincidence.
I have lived in this city all my life, and it has always been a safe and nurturing place. We are now at risk of going the way of Left Coast cities. I cannot express my dread and sorrow at that prospect.
These firebrands urge us to "a second look at what’s happening in their community." We have, and we don't like it. The burning police car on your billboard gives away who you are. This is your real message, and it has no place in this community.

#28 and #31, there is a specific verb "Californicate" for this phenomenon. It first happened to Seattle, and Portland.
Californicate: To "screw" up just like California.

As a Black man I do not and will never support the racist, Marxist violent actions of BLM. Period! All this dumb billboard does is further fan the flames of racism and hatred and has no place in America. A country built on the brains, backs, ingenuity, courage and lives of White people. I know that racist dimwits like Ms. Newton and BLM like to try to rewrite history but that's a fact.
