At times, you could be forgiven for having thought that Kristi Noem wanted to be a uniformed Department of Homeland Security officer rather than the secretary of the department.
Now, the cabinet member most inclined to glamour shots out in the field is going to have to go back to wearing civilian clothes.
For all his trademark firings during “The Apprentice” and the rapid turnover of his first term, President Trump has been loath to oust top officials this time around.
Noem is the exception, and she’s earned the dubious distinction.
Incompetent and preposterously self-promoting,

I fell off the Noem bus for her "poor judgment" of stating in her book that she shot her dog. So what if she did, What positive purpose was served in saying it in black and white?

The level of snark in this piece leaves the author’s motives suspect.

Name-calling is something expected from the Left. Such a low-brow and childish form of discourse. NR continues to go downhill.

#4 In my book the name in the byline "leaves the author’s motives suspect." Lowery is a weasel. Some of us have long memories.

South Dakotans liked her when she was their governor. I had high hopes for her. But she made the mistake of making herself the story. When the WSJ article came out, including the story of her alleged affair, I knew her time was up. Trump apparently thought - correctly, in my book - that if her husband can’t trust her, we can’t either.

Here are my questions - - - -
What's going to happen to the long hair ringlets and the big hoop earrings? Will The Gnome start dressing like a mature adult - - or will she stay with the teenage bad girl look?

Is that where the rumor of the "alleged affair" s\came from? The WSJ? They hate Trump. They try to torprdo him,his appintees... Not what I'd call a reliable source...
Corey has been persona non grata to Trump since he made a sexual hit on rhe wiife of a major Trump donor a while back.

I will stand by Noem no matter what. Rich Lowry can go rot. I remember the Covid shots, and the only governor that did not shut down her economy, and didn't mandate any "vaccines", or firings for those that did not take the shot. All this while Trump was listening to Dr. Fauci and shutting down the U.S. economy and pushing the "vaccine", trampling over every American's liberty. No one stood up except Noem. Most Republicans in acquiescence to surrendering all of our liberties. That hearing this week was a set up, and Trump used it as a pretext for firing Noem to get Thom Tillis to allow his nominees to go forward. And Trump has been listening to John Thune about John Cornyn. John Thune is not going to move the Save Act forward, and Thom Tillis is not going to be any easier on Trump's nominees. Trump should realize John Thune or John Cornyn are snakes, and you have taken them in.

I have liked Noem. She was getting the job done. This seems like a move to get away from the media circus about the ICE actions in Minnesota and those never work, IMHO. But if Trump has someone who can be even more effective and twice as acceptable, great. First cabinet firing in 14 months.... I think Trump got good picks this time around and Noem was one of 'em.
Oh, and I second what the other poster said about how Noem was right about covid. And, BTW, her TV ads to illegals? I remember her spots promoting her State. They were done in just about the same way.

Not a fan of Lowry. He's damaged goods, IMO. Spent way, way too much time smearing Trump. I think this is a bit of spill over from that hatred.

I wonder if this is the effect of all the Botox she’s recently received?

My opinion is the Kristi Noem was fired because she was more concerned with advancing her political ambitions than she was with doing the job. I am not convinced that she did a bad job (every report I have seen which pointed out a problem with what she was doing was written to accomplish some political end).

Pretty obvious that Lowry has an ax to grind, and beclowns himself with the non-stop, over-the-top rhetoric. DHS seemed to be doing a good job over the last year but her messaging was amateurish and she came off as using her Cabinet position for little more than a stepping stone to an eventual White House bid, spending too much time posing for action photos in the field in lots of make-up and perfectly-coiffed hair. She belongs in that group of really good Republican governors who - for whatever reason - just aren't cut out for the national stage: Walker, Perry, DeSantis...

#11 speaks for me. Not going there on Kristi Noem. I like her and think she has done a good job. Disappointed to see intelligent LDotters reducing her to hoop earrings, Botox and ringlets.

She got a promotion. Period. She wasn't fired. LIke any good employee, her boss asked her to lead a new and exciting division, and she took it!!!! And he asked her because she did a great job at her current position!!!!
If Lowry can try to spin all this to make her look bad, I prefer to accept reality and continue to support her and President Trump!!!!!

Noem goes and Bondi stays. And why is the senator with two first names so qualified? Who's got Trump's ear to tell him to screw around with a Senate seat? The situation is completely FUBAR.

Just another hit piece by a known bounty hunter. Some people don't like Noem for various reasons but the job she did was effective if a bit overenthusiastic. The ad she did was over the top inadviseable but ICE did an effective job in Minnesota as well as everywhere else. Every article about Kristi smells of jealousy and envy, and all of the alleged offenses are made up.
Inexperienced in immigration enforcement? How much experience is needed to point a bunch of illegal criminal aliens toward the south and say, "Vamos!"

Sad to see someone who did a fair job get slammed for her looks. Where's that coming from? This situation makes me wonder about the backstory. I watch Kennedy with his "gotcha" routine. She didn't deserve it. She should have asked him how much he thought should have been spent on the ads. She was convicted by innuendo. She saved the taxpayers over $13B, and he was worried about $250M? It was ugly to watch. She was caught completely offguard. She didn't deserve it. If it was time for her to move on, ok, but this after putting up some good numbers? What was the crime? Rumors of an affair? Her staring in her ads? It doesn't seem so out of place to put a face to the DHS telling the invaders to get out.

Re #25 - What exactly has Sen Kennedy ever accomplished while in the Senate? Other than spouting another of his pithy comments. Man is useless, well, until he he questioned Noem. The Republican Party - doesn't it make you proud?
