Dr. Mehmet Oz and Deputy Secretary Jim O'Neill came to Minnesota to get a firsthand look at the Medicaid fraud that, so far, has eaten up about half of all Medicaid money for the past several years.
What they found that was so interesting was not the fraud, but the efforts that the fraudsters are making to intimidate investigators looking into it. It seems systemic in its nature. The building that we visited together, Griggs building was a textile factory, became an office building. It's not a nice part of town. I wouldn't take my kids there to get cared for, frankly, do much else in business, but somehow

US President Donald Trump tells Norway’s prime minister he no longer needed to think “purely of peace” after failing to win the Nobel Peace Prize, in a message published today.
“Considering your Country decided not to give me the Nobel Peace Prize for having stopped 8 Wars PLUS, I no longer feel an obligation to think purely of Peace,” Trump says in a message to Norwegian Prime Minister Jonas Gahr Store.
The authenticity of the message is confirmed to AFP by a source close to the matter, and by Store to Norwegian newspaper VG.

A high-speed train derailed and hurtled into another train in Spain on Sunday evening, killing at least 39 people and leaving dozens more injured in one of the country’s worst rail disasters in more than a decade.
The train, operated by rail company Iryo, was traveling from Malaga to Madrid with 371 people onboard when its rear three carriages derailed and crashed into the front two carriages of another high-speed train traveling in the opposite direction, officials said.
The collision, near Adamuz in the southern region of Andalusia, caused both trains to overturn at speed, news agency EFE reported, with the front carriages of the second train sent plunging down an embankment.

Democrats are feeling good about themselves right now. After some off-year election wins in 2025, they’re strutting into 2026 convinced they’re on the right side of history again. But as usual, that arrogance might be setting them up for a nasty reality check. Because one of their own—David Plouffe, Barack Obama’s former senior adviser—is waving a giant red flag.
In a New York Times op-ed titled “Democrats Will Lose in 2028 Unless They Change Course Now,” Plouffe warns that the party’s long-term future looks bleak. He says the electoral map itself is shifting out from under their feet—and unless Democrats overhaul everything, they’re heading for years of political pain.

Rep. Brad Knott (R-NC) raised important questions Saturday about the Chinese infiltrating the United States to vote in elections.
Knott highlighted an article from Breitbart News’s Bradley Jaye about the “Manchurian Generation” of over one million Chinese with U.S. citizenship who could vote in the near future.
In his social media post, Knott told readers he would appreciate their responses to his questions.
“1. Why would China NOT exploit open borders; and 2. Sloppy application of birthright citizenship; in order to 3. Control millions of ‘American citizens’ who remain loyal to China?” he wrote:

Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-NY) revealed that Democrats would “restore most of the cuts” that the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) had made.
While taking part in a discussion at the Center for American Progress, Schumer received a question about what he “can do about bringing” the Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) back, after DOGE came in and made cuts.
“If you look at the budget actually, we’re working on right now — and we’ll have the T-HUD budget, you know, transportation and HUD budget, we restore most of the cuts and even go higher than previous years on many of the programs that DOGE slashed,”

Democrat Abigail Spanberger was sworn in Saturday as Virginia’s 75th governor, making history as the first woman to hold the commonwealth’s highest office and pledging to lead with unity, affordability and pragmatic action amid deep national divisions and growing uncertainty coming out of Washington.
Within hours of taking the oath, Spanberger, 46, moved swiftly to define the priorities of her administration, signing a package of executive orders aimed at lowering costs for families, strengthening public education, responding to federal disruptions...//snip//A tenth executive order rescinds Youngkin’s Executive Order 47, which required and encouraged state and local law enforcement agencies to divert resources toward enforcing federal civil immigration laws.

A U.S. military strike in northwest Syria resulted in the death of a leader affiliated with Al-Qaeda who was linked to an ISIS attack last month that resulted in the death of two U.S. Army soldiers and a U.S. civilian interpreter, the U.S. Central Command announced Saturday.
U.S. Central Command, which oversees U.S. military operations in the Middle East, conducted the strike on Jan. 16, killing Bilal Hasan al-Jasim, authorities said. Al-Jasim was allegedly directly connected with the ISIS gunman who killed Sgt. Edgar Brian Torres-Tovar, Sgt. William Nathaniel Howard and the interpreter and injured three other U.S. service members in Palmyra, Syria, on Dec. 13.

Did you know that Minnesota held onto a congressional seat during the last census by a bare 89 people? And does this indicate to us another reason why Democrats are outraged at deportations of thousands of illegal aliens from the state?
As I have previously noted, Democrats could use illegal alien populations to rig Congress and the electoral college in their favor. How? Back in 2021, Joe “Open Borders” Biden signed an executive order requiring the U.S. Census Bureau to include all residents in its U.S. population calculations — even those who aren’t citizens.
Also in 2021, AP reported that Minnesota held onto one of its eight congressional seats

Yesterday I wrote about Gov. Tim Walz sudden change of tone. After weeks of verbally escalating the conflict with ICE and the Trump administration, even saying on several occasions that the state was at war with the federal government, Walz suddenly pleaded for calm. At the time, it wasn't clear to me what had motivated his sudden change of heart.
This afternoon, we're learning that both Walz and Frey are under investigation and subpoenas have been or are about to be issued to both men by the Department of Justice.

MINNEAPOLIS (AP) — Federal officers in the Minneapolis-area participating in its largest recent U.S. immigration enforcement operation can’t detain or tear gas peaceful protesters who aren’t obstructing authorities, including when these people are observing the agents, a judge in Minnesota ruled Friday.
U.S. District Judge Kate Menendez’s ruling addresses a case filed in December on behalf of six Minnesota activists. The six are among the thousands who have been observing the activities of Immigration and Customs Enforcement and Border Patrol officers enforcing the Trump administration’s immigration crackdown in the Minneapolis-St. Paul area since last month.
Federal agents and demonstrators have repeatedly clashed since the crackdown began.

The U.S. Federal Aviation Administration said on Friday it is issuing a series of warnings to airlines to exercise caution when flying over Central America and parts of South America, citing the risks of potential military activities and GPS interference.
The FAA said it had issued Notices to Airmen covering Mexico and other Central American countries, as well as Ecuador, Colombia and portions of airspace within the eastern Pacific Ocean. The warnings began Friday and will last 60 days, the agency added. The warnings come amid increased tensions between the United States and regional leaders after the Trump administration mounted a large-scale military buildup in the southern Caribbean, attacked Venezuela
