Convention Of States Effort Nears Milestone
In Kansas

A years-long effort to hold a convention of states to propose amendments under Article V of the Constitution appears poised to hit a major milestone in Kansas this week as the legislature mulls becoming the 20th state to call for such a move. (snip) Article V of the U.S. Constitution allows amendments if two-thirds of the state legislatures approve the calling of a state convention for a specified, limited purpose. (snip) [A] minimum of 34 states would need to approve such a move for a convention to occur, and any proposed amendments would still need to be ratified by three quarters of the states (38).

Comments:

A dubious but persistent proposal. In the current environment a Convention of States would be like loosening a cannon and firing off a round just to see what happens. It will be recalled that the Constitution itself was the product of a convention of states called merely to amend the Articles of Confederation. I prefer that any amendments be proposed, considered, and adopted one at a time. Yes, President Trump called attention to this proposal once last year but has since forgotten about it. We should, too.

Just wondering if it has to do with the financial calamity that is near and requires a balanced federal budget and a digital currency in order for America to survive. But surely as the sky is blue, the dims will complicate the process with its rights thing for the illegals. Or with the dims' climate change nonsense. Or with gun confiscation. Who knows.

FTA - "This would include debates on imposing fiscal restraints, term limits, and power limitations on the federal government." A very broad agenda. Not sure what/who would benefit most - the USA as founded or a USSA.

Re No.2. Maybe not age limits... I know an 85-year-old much sharper than some 70-year-olds. Term limits, for sure. A cognitive test would be good too, but that would eliminate half of Congress.

Be careful what you wish for. Not every state hold the Constitution in the same way the red states do. And remember what the Democrats did at the elections. Nothing wrong with our constitution now. It can be changed with amendments.

Sounds like the agenda is already too broad and would be as difficult as trying to heard a bunch of cats.

In a major escalation of federal oversight, audits by the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) under the Trump administration have determined that California must repay more than $1 billion in improperly claimed federal Medicaid funds tied to healthcare for illegal aliens. The findings highlight California's role as the "biggest culprit" among several blue states (snip) that collectively face demands to return $1.35 billion in questioned reimbursement. (snip) The audit found these funds were used to subsidize non-emergency healthcare for non-citizens violating federal restrictions that limit Medicaid reimbursements to emergency services only for non-citizens without saisfactory immigration status.

The study found enormous cost savings if New England's demand for electricity was met with nuclear, natural gas, or a combination of the two by 2050. It would also prevent dangerous blackouts that could last 18 hours under the renewables-only scenario. New England states pay the highest electricity costs in the continental U.S.. President Trump and his administration need to see the immigration fight through all the way to the end. Illegal immigrants have to go, every single one of them, no exceptions, no special rules, because they're nice or they have a dog or they're hanging out in the vicinity of a church or it's Tuesday and a full moon. Every single one of them needs to be gone. And if we don't do it, the country is screwed in the long term. In the short term, the Republicans are screwed.

In October, 2024 the 70-year old widow was sentenced to nine years in prison by District Court Judge Matthew Barrett. The Danes were in this position because because while Germany built up their military after the Great War ended, the rest of the countries that make up the western portion of today's EU did not. Recently, significant policy changes have begun moving the country back toward informed consent and individualized medical care. For the first time in decades, federal health agencies are retreating from long-entrenched models of coercion and centralized control, openly acknowledging the limits of what they know. The renewed emphasis on transparency, shared clinical decision-making, and rejection of one-size-fits-all medicine should feel like a long overdue correction. Democrat Rep. Jim Clyburn of South Carolina appeared on ‘The View’ on Monday and claimed that Republicans are trying to bring back slavery. This is not only insane and untrue, it’s a complete perversion of history. The Republican Party was founded to end slavery in the United States. Abraham Lincoln was the first Republican president, who fought the Democrats on the issue of slavery, which escalated into the American Civil War. Democrats do this all the time. In 2012, Joe Biden famously said to a mostly black audience that Republicans want to ‘put y’all back in chains.’ Clyburn knows better than this. They all do.
