Mamdani Madness, 36 Hours Later

It hasn't even been two full days since polls closed in New York City, so the full blossoming of the Mamdani effect is far from being fully witnessed. But what the heck. Let's take a peek in on parts of Gotham and see how things going. As for Zohran Mamdani himself, it didn't take more than an hour when it became official he would be the next resident of Gracie Mansion that the Mayor-Elect gave an angry acceptance speech. There were plenty of lowlights all throughout his address, but here are just some of the bits that will cause a lot of New Yorkers to

Hypocrisy is the left's stock in trade. Tropical vacations for me, but not for thee, says Ringo MadMani. He's admitted to born-in-Uganda.... can we assume he can never run for president?

The man is either ignorant or crazy, maybe both. Why would you attack a man you are going to have to go to, to bail your ass out when your stupid plan fails.

Just wait till churches are converted to mosques and the call to prayer is everywhere five times a day. It's happening in Great Britain, and they're already praying on the streets in the Bronx.

NYC is a liberal hell hole. Cut back on the federal dollars and let them raise taxes to 100% to fund their nonsense.

I did not vote for Zohran Mamdani. Call me crazy — but a socialist who, until five minutes ago, was gleefully tweeting to defund the police and who refuses to condemn the phrase “globalize the intifada” is not my ideal steward for this glittering center of progress. On social media, there’s a relentless schadenfreude chorus of “You deserve what you vote for” from out-of-towners who don’t seem to understand that massive swathes of New Yorkers did not, in fact, vote for Mamdani. But that doesn’t mean I’m going anywhere.

It's beginning to look like the prediction Sen. Ted Cruz (R-TX) made about the Democrats and the shutdown is right. He predicted that after the elections, we would get some movement from the Democrats to end the shutdown, because the shutdown was about juicing their base, trying to whip them up to get out to the polls. Once the elections were over, they would then try to find an off-ramp to end the shutdown and claim a victory. Surprise, surprise. Now we're hearing that Democrats are engaging with Republicans on reopening the government, according to Punchbowl.
Virginia Wild Card: Turnout Among Black Voters 5 replies

The conventional wisdom among most election analysts is that the 2025 Virginia gubernatorial contest between Republican Winsome Earle-Sears and Democrat Abigail Spanberger will be won by the latter. This consensus is primarily based on a series of polls that purport to show her ahead by comfortable margins. All such surveys, however, necessarily incorporate certain assumptions (snip) If those assumptions are inaccurate, pollsters can end up wiping a lot of egg yolk off their faces. In the Old Dominion, 45 days of early voting has produced a record-breaking turnout — except in localities where most of the electorate consists of black voters.

The ground beneath Democrats' feet is starting to shift. A government shutdown is not a strategy that works absent the media. The whole point of the exercise is to do something dramatic in order to bring attention and raise awareness of some particular issue. In this case, Democrats decided their issue would be health care. They would shut down the government to make demand Republicans extend Obamacare subsidies that are set to expire at the end of this year. For the past few weeks, that strategy has worked pretty well for Democrats for two reasons. First, the shutdown didn't really have much impact right away, especially because President Trump worked to ensure

Government shutdowns are always and everywhere about using government spending —or, really, the restriction of government spending —as political leverage. Sometimes they are used effectively, and sometimes not, but the goal is to impose pain on your negotiating partner and break their will. (Snip)Since politicians are careful to avoid feeling any of the pain directly—they consider themselves essential employees and keep the money flowing into their own pockets—the pain has to be inflicted on others, with the hope that the victims can implore their legislators to give in to demands.

It is by now blindingly obvious to any rational observer of American politics that the Democratic Party is circling the drain. Depending on which poll you believe, its favorability rating among U.S. adults is somewhere between 23 percent (CNBC) and 34 percent (CBS). Nor is it difficult to divine what has led to this dismal state of affairs — the party has lurched so far to the left that most of its iconic leaders would be regarded as too conservative to win the Democratic presidential nomination.

Muslims are blasting Zohran Mamdani’s association with controversial Imam Siraj Wahhaj, warning that legitimizing the former terror suspect could fuel radical extremism. “I am particularly concerned to see mosques used as political rallying platforms in the free and democratic United States,” said Dalia Ziada, a Muslim scholar and fellow at the Institute for the Study of Global Antisemitism and Policy. “By embracing Wahhaj, Zohran Mamdani is sidelining moderate Muslims and normalizing an extremist ideology that once inspired terror on American soil and still fuels radicalization within segments of the Muslim community today,” she told Fox News.

It’s difficult to think of a more effective way to illustrate the moral and intellectual emptiness of the American left than to have them march around demanding an end to an institution our founding fathers abolished 250 years ago. This is how the official “No Kings” website described what happened on Saturday: “On October 18, more than seven million of us rose up at more than 2,700 events in all 50 states, DC, and cities worldwide to say: America has no kings, and the power belongs to the people.” These folks are a little late to the party.

Her guests also supported the idea that electing Zohran Mamdani (D) won’t scare off the one percent and subsequently bankrupt the city. When asked if it was insane for a socialist to be placed in charge of the “capitalist capital of the world,” former Biden adviser Jared Bernstein defended the mayor-elect: Look, there is a long and mistaken view that what's good for Main Street, or should I say what's good for Elmhurst or Brooklyn Heights, is bad for Wall Street.

Greetings, Dear Reader, As usual, they’re all wrong and I’m right. How can we interpret the two conflagrations in our midst? Let’s get into it. THE PIED PIPER OF BUSHWICK There are a couple of fires right now for conservatives. To our front, the Heritage Foundation is in the midst of a generational struggle session over allegiance to Israel. While I think the reckoning is worthwhile and ultimately inevitable – especially considering future American conservatives are not apt to carry Jerusalem’s burden – the one to our rear is much more immediate and consequential. The story we’re hearing from the left (and the right) about Mamdani’s win in New York City is pure mythology.

People who watched it unfold aren’t being “bigots” for feeling uneasy. They’re watching their country’s biggest city slip further from the culture that built it, just days after electing a Marxist mayor. A federal jury has convicted a New York fiber laser expert of stealing military defense secrets to start a business in China. Ji Wang, 63, faces up to 15 years in prison for economic espionage after pilfering classified research on laser weapons technology. Wang’s conviction marks another victory in federal efforts to combat intellectual property theft linked to China’s state-sponsored recruitment programs. Wang stole hundreds of files containing trade secrets from a $11.4 million military project on or around July 1, 2016. The stolen data included manufacturing technology for specialty optical fibers used in high-powered laser weapons. Just ten days before the theft, Wang had applied for China’s Thousand Talents Plan Award.

Executives are in active talks about axing the money-losing F-150 Lightning altogether, sources told the Wall Street Journal, in what could become the first major casualty of America’s faltering electric vehicle revolution. The Lightning, launched with fanfare in 2021 and hailed by CEO Jim Farley as a ‘smartphone that can tow,’ was supposed to mark a new era for Ford. President Joe Biden even took one for a spin, calling it ‘quick as hell.’ But the hype faded fast.

That is now the experiment New York City residents asked for.
