One reason that many Republican voters took a shine to Donald Trump in 2016 was the way he showed no respect to the national chattering classes of the Democrat-media complex. George W. Bush was a kinder, gentler Republican -- and they compared him to Hitler. No matter which flavor of Republican was elected, the "objective" media savaged him. We've reached the 20th anniversary of deadly Hurricane Katrina in the Gulf of Mexico, which killed an estimated 1,836 Americans. But misinformation landed first. NBC and MSNBC tremendously hyped Democrat Mayor Ray Nagin's "Today" show estimate of 10,000 dead in New Orleans.

Katrina was yet another excuse to dog-pile on the Bush 43 administration. The MSM/Dem collective were still suffering from sour grapes over the 2000 Florida recount outcome. Operation IRAQI FREEDOM was in it's second year in 2005 and was beginning to slip. So, naturally, the MSM/Dem collective capitalized on these two events that year as an easy one-two punch on an admistration that did not punch back.

The thing I disliked the most about GW Bush was his refusal to address the media/democrat narratives. He let them destroy his presidency with that gentlemanly, Republican, country club, above-it-all BS. I’ll take a fighter like President Trump any day of the week and twice on Sunday.

There was a time when comparing someone to Hitler was about the worst insult you could make. Then, over time, it became so overused it came to mean nothing. It means you disagree with someone. If the waiter didnt bring you enough ketchup, he's Hitler. If the boss denies your vacation dates, he's Hitler. Maybe we should resurrect Stalin or Mao to call people, just for some variety.

President Bush called the governor, Kathleen Blanco, several times before the hurricane hit. He offered military help for the city in any way they were needed. Governor Blanco refused his help. They did not want "Washington" taking over anything in the state. Bet most of you never heard this. I'm from Louisiana. My aunt lived in Metairie. Her house had water up to the ceiling. Lots of stuff went on there that never made national news.

IIRC The female governor would not ask for Federal aid at first, if he had rushed in without her request Bush would have been accused of overstepping. His flyover was mocked but that was because he rightly realized his presence would have detracted from rescue efforts and the mayor was paralyzed by incompetence. Somehow Obama was a hero in Sandy. Republican Presidents are responsible for every sparrow that falls from a tree. And as stated the old country club Republicans never fought back.

It really was a disaster waiting to happen. The levees were insufficient to hold back all that water. Much of the city is below sea level. Residents had 3 days of warning but many waited for the buses to come and take them to safety.

# 11 - I can vouch for the French Quarter in New Orleans. Went there several years ago. It and Jackson Square were the same as ever. I didn't get out to other areas, tho. I know my aunt did not return. Her house, in Metairie, was one below sea level and when the pumps were flooded out, it went totally underwater. She wanted to return. The daughter she lived with said no. Thankfully.

I live about 200 yards from the north shore of Bay Saint Louis, MS. I am right across the bay from Waveland, MS and the town of Bay Saint Louis, MS. This was the real 'Ground Zero' for Katrina, where the north-east eye wall, the strongest part of the storm, hit. I have the southernmost house in my neighborhood (we lost about 250 to the storm surge) that was still standing after the storm. I had 14 feet of muddy salt water in my yard. In Mississippi, Governor Barbour COOPERATED with the federal government, and the response was MAGNIFICENT! In Louisiana, Governor Blanco and Mayor Nagin BLOCKED the federal government for several days, letting their Citizens broil in the hot Louisiana sun, sitting on their black asphalt shingle roofs in the flooded, below-sea-level parts of the city. No water, no food, nowhere to pee, for several days. Louisiana sportsmen from farther north -later dubbed 'The Cajun Navy'- hitched up their fishing 'bass boats' and came to the flooded city to help rescue people.... and were turned away by the Louisiana police. Why? Apparently so the Democrats and the Media could 'bash' President Bush for the so-called 'botched' response. I could go on for pages of detail, but the main point is that: In Mississippi, the State and Local governments COOPERATED and the response was Magnificent! In New Orleans, the State and Local governments actually BLOCKED the Federal assistance. The Democ'RATS DELIBERATELY LET THEIR CITIZENS SUFFER SO THAT THEY COULD PLAY POLITICS!

#1 - Ray Nagin freaked out during Katrina. When Bush visited, Nagin was offered an AF-1 bathroom so he could "freshen up" before meeting PGWB. He locked himself in the bathroom and had to be coaxed out. #2 - McCain was never called a Nazi because he lost to Bam-Bam. The press was all in for him before he won the Republican nomination, then they turned on him. He didn't know what hit him. He was stupid to think they were his friends.

I’ve lived in New Orleans all my life and lived thru Katrina. The governors husband was a DNC operative and had marching orders to make Bush look as bad as possible, Bush was a gentleman and didn’t want to usurp the power of a female democratic governor. That was the majority of the problem. The second part was communications, people on the outside really didn’t know what was going on, cellphone towers had batteries with very short lifespans at the time.

Yes, #15. I remember those different responses to help from the Bush administration, and the differences it made in LA and MS. I also remember the “news” reporting from the MSM at the time. Incalculable damage has been done by corrupt people trying to gain and hold onto power through the years. I’m so thankful for PDJT and all that he is accomplishing to rectify it! He is a fighter and a leader. We need that! I pray he is able to clean it up to the point that the legacy can be kept alive by other honorable and capable hands in charge of our government until ignoring and acceptance of corruption is ended and honor has been restored.

Chicago’s mayor spent the weekend thundering about “democracy,” “fascism,” and the Constitution. Then he showed up on MSNBC and—under the hottest spotlight of his tenure—stumbled over the simplest question in public safety: would more cops on the street make Chicago safer? Joe Scarborough asked it five times. Brandon Johnson couldn’t say yes. He filibustered about housing, mental health, and youth jobs until he was forced to mutter that the police must be “fully supported.” Translation: with Trump threatening federal muscle, even the most progressive mayor knows he can’t keep sneering at cops.

Attorney General Pam Bondi is seeking to dismiss a $100 million lawsuit filed by the Proud Boys over the political persecution they suffered in the wake of the January 6th protests. In a court submission on Monday, the Department of Justice (DOJ) asked for the lawsuit to be dismissed, stating that “the malicious prosecution claim lacks merit; and the United States is not liable for punitive damages.” The filing undercuts the argument long supported by the Trump administration that those who were imprisoned following the January 6th attacks were the victims of political persecution. The suit was filed in June by Enrique Tarrio, the former Proud Boys leader,

Congresswoman Judy Chu (D-Los Angeles), a 17-year veteran of Capitol Hill, recently posted a graphic on X blaming “Trump’s tariffs” for the rising cost of back-to-school supplies. A glance at her list reveals a more telling story: most of the items are pencils, pens, paper, and lunchboxes. Essentials. Yet, much of what American children need to write, organize, and eat comes from overseas. Yes, pencils. Once staples of every classroom, most American pencils are now imported from China, Brazil, and Mexico. Domestic pencil production has largely disappeared. Take Dixon Pencils. Until the 1980s they used to make pencils in Jersey City, New Jersey.

The biggest, boldest lie of every welfare state is that the goods and services it is providing to its citizens are "free." Those of us with brain cells and an aversion to lying know that this is not only untrue, but also impossible. Politicians are fond of throwing taxpayer dollars around like drunk Kennedy cousins on summer break in Monte Carlo in order to make voters love them. Despite being full-throated advocates for "sustainability" when it comes to almost anything else, socialist welfare state types are committed to an economic system that simply cannot go on forever.
