Preaching
Anything but the Gospel

Welcome back to another tour of the craziness that is progressive Christianity. Sometimes, I approach these columns with a theme in mind, but that wasn’t my plan this week. It wasn’t until I finished compiling these examples that I realized that there was a theme, and it’s that progressive churches will preach anything but the gospel. Let’s start with a doozy. My friend and colleague Sarah Anderson sent me a post on X featuring a woman pastor (shocker) with sort of a mohawk (bonus) spouting a bunch of left-wing clichés that start with “I’m a pastor…” I'm a pastor. Another biblical prophecy coming to pass from 2 Timothy: "But understand this, that in the last days there will come times of difficulty. For people will be lovers of self, lovers of money, proud, arrogant, abusive, disobedient to their parents, ungrateful, unholy, heartless, unappeasable, slanderous, without self-control, brutal, not loving good, treacherous, reckless, swollen with conceit, lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of God, having the appearance of godliness, but denying its power. Avoid such people." -- Bingo.

We now have full-fledged "Christian" denominations that do not require Christ and that only believe in Biblical imperatives that match their world view.

I was confirmed into the UCC denomination 65 years ago. Within a year my parents left the church because it was too liberal for them. They never joined another one. Currently that same church is now pastored by a trio of ministers ~ a gay man, a lesbian, and a heterosexual woman. I assume the congregation consists mostly of people who pursue alternative lifestyles so I doubt very little, if any, Biblical truth is preached. I think it's a safe bet to also believe that the word "sin" has never been uttered by any of these ministers. Shortly after this trio became pastors our local paper interviewed one of them who indicated that first and foremost he wanted his flock to know that "they were OK just the way they are". Did this pastor ever study Romans 3?? Only one Person Who ever walked the earth was "OK" just the way He was. Our paper's reporting on this church was positively glowing, focusing on the love and tolerance evident within it. There are too many "synagogues of satan" masquerading as Christ's church; thankfully the LORD has noticed and He does intend to make corrections.

Acts 4:1213 Nor is there salvation in any other, for there is no other name under heaven given among men by which we must be saved. Now when they saw the boldness of Peter and John, and perceived that they were uneducated and untrained men, they marveled. And they realized that they had been with Jesus. A 'church' without Christ as the basis is a mere congregation of believers in another Gospel. Galatians 1:1-10 But even if we, or an angel from heaven, preach any other gospel to you than what we have preached to you, let him be accursed. As we have said before, so now I say again, if anyone preaches any other gospel to you than what you have received, let him be accursed.

A few years ago, our neighbor invited us to her UCC "church" for her re-marriage to her ex-husband. The "church" was led by a woman who was having a relationship with the female music leader. It was a very uncomfortable service; God was not being glorified. I don't remember if the neighbor's gay son attended; he had moved to Brazil to be in a homosexual relationship with the love of his life. (I had gotten into a discussion with the neighbor regarding the Bible and homosexual practice -which resulted in straining our relationship.) That was several years ago. Since then, the ex-ex husband has died, the widowed neighbor has moved away, and the son broke up with his lover in South America. Oh --- and her UCC "church" is no longer there.

It would seem that forgiveness has taken on a whole new meaning. What is left out is that Jesus tells us to repent, sin no more (turn away from what you are doing), and turn to God's ways. It just seems that there are churches out there affirming ways other than what God wants from us.

The absolute genius of our Lord Jesus Christ shines through in a time like this when our Lord succinctly asked one of the most profound questions in all Scripture during one of His many dialogues with the Pharisees, Matthew 22:42 - saying, “What do you think about the Christ? Whose Son is He?” How a person answers that question tells you the spiritual condition of their soul. Likewise, when asked of a pastor, preacher, or priest, will let you quickly know whether you should subjugate yourself under HIS teaching. (Sorry leftists, but the Bible is very clear that at NO time is a female EVER authorized to wield spiritual authority over an adult male. (I Cor 14:34))

Interesting points, #17. In mankind as well as across the spectrum of most other animals, the male and the female of each species has seperate and distinct characteristics, functions and appearance. Only mankind is stupid or arrogant enough to attempt to intermix those qualities and pretend to change from one to the other. A few varieties of cold-blooded reptiles stray from the norm from the time of hatching but it's rare and probably for a special reason but the choice is not made by them.

They preach anything but Gospel because they have rejected the Gospel and the underlying reason they reject the Gospel is that they reject the notion of sin as defined by the Bible. Mind you, they are happy to define sin in their own terms (e.g., racism, homophobia, climate change denial, etc.), but actual sin as defined in Biblical terms, they're not having any of that b/c that is judgement, and they don't engage in judgement. Progressive Christianity engage in self-worship...although they do love to play dress up and play pretend church with the sacraments.

"...you will never hear about shame, judgment, or even sin at this church. " Alrighty then, it isn't a Christian church, because Christianity is based upon the condition of mankind and the necessity for Someone to save us from that "shame" and "sin." I don't know what she is but she is definitely not the pastor of a real Christian Church.

We wish former President Biden the best. I pray for his recovery. Honestly, I hope that Jill plans to go to confession and admit that she loved the title of First Lady a lot more than being a devoted wife. My guess is there a lot of ladies in the country who can't believe her disregard for Joe Biden's health and well-being. Again, she loved the title and staff. And now there is prostate cancer: The 82-year-old former president was diagnosed Friday after doctors found a “small nodule” on his prostate during a medical exam earlier this month -- with the cancer cells having spread to the bone, his spokesman revealed Sunday.

The statue of The Doors frontman was recovered in Paris during an investigation conducted by its financial and anti-corruption arm that was unrelated to the original theft, it said in a post on Instagram. Morrison's grave has long been a site for fans of the rock band to pay their respects in an unusual way - graffiti sprawls across neighbouring gravestones in the poet's corner of the famous Père-Lachaise cemetery, which also houses the tombs of Edith Piaf and Oscar Wilde. Republicans raised questions about Biden's extensive reliance on the executive autopen to sign all those pardons and acts of clemency. Indeed, it would seem to be a non-issue. All presidents have used an autopen for official and unofficial business, so what's the big deal? Legal experts scoffed at that idea except in one unlikely instance.
