This Mother’s Day, let’s do more than brunch and bouquets. Let’s salute the women who are literally shaping the future of America, both inside their homes and from inside the walls of our nation’s highest offices. And nowhere is that more clear than in the 2025 executive branch of the Trump administration.
While the press may focus on headlines, I want to focus on heroes—the unsung ones—the mothers. The women who get up early to prepare for Cabinet meetings and stay up late helping with homework. The women who shape public policy with one hand and stir mac and cheese with the other.

The media is dialing up the doomsaying over the impact of President Donald J. Trump’s foreign tariffs and is going back to the well of perhaps the most successful fearmongering campaign of all time.
According to one left-leaning mainstream outlet, the tariffs could lead to a repeat of the great national toilet paper shortage of 2020, when mass hysteria stoked by the media sparked a panic that drove Americans to hoard bathroom tissue, leaving stores with barren shelves and forcing retailers to impose rationing measures.

Senator John Kennedy and Department of Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem teamed up to expose Biden-era immigration policy. Former President Joe Biden’s lack of any real border authority resulted in massive numbers of illegal aliens and asylum seekers gaining access to the United States. Millions of Americans voted for stricter enforcement in 2024, but many are still wondering why the former president would allow a flood of humanity to come into the country. Kennedy and Noem dug deep into the issue, and the conclusion they came to should frighten all Americans:

President Donald Trump has appointed Ed Martin as the head of the newly formed Justice Department Weaponization Working Group — a move that has Democrats, NeverTrumpers, and deep state operatives sweating bullets.
“Ed Martin has done an AMAZING job as interim U.S. Attorney, and will be moving to the Department of Justice as the new Director of the Weaponization Working Group, Associate Deputy Attorney General, and Pardon Attorney,” Trump wrote on Truth Social.
“In these highly important roles, Ed will make sure we finally investigate the Weaponization of our Government under the Biden Regime, and provide much needed Justice for its victims. Congratulations Ed!”

One of the craziest stories of the year broke on Friday after a contingent of Democrat politicians stormed an ICE facility in New Jersey, supposedly in protest of President Donald Trump's immigration policies. But while they claimed to have done nothing wrong, the more evidence emerged, the more obvious it became that they were lying through their teeth.
As RedState reported, Newark Mayor Ras Baraka, who was arrested on site, tried to play the victim on CNN. Video then emerged showing that he breached a checkpoint and refused to leave after multiple requests.
The behavior of three Democrat congressional members was arguably even worse.

In what appears to be a political course-change for the ages, Alaska's own nominally Republican senior Senator, Princess Lisa Murkowski, suddenly seems to be speaking in approving tones of FBI Director Kash Patel, whose nomination she opposed.
But that approval seems to be limited to a few issues, although they are serious issues.
During a Senate committee hearing this week, Murkowski engaged in a substantive exchange with Director Patel, focusing on the Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women and Girls crisis and Alaska’s worsening fentanyl epidemic.
“This is a week that a lot of Alaskans are paying attention to,” Murkowski began,

Day one of the critical trade talks between the United States and China in Switzerland is over. Progress has been made, though some in the media seem to be cheering for a total collapse of these negotiations. Politico especially is insufferable, with the headline “the US-China trade meeting’s low bar: Progress.” That’s a good thing, you guys. The real low bar is no one walking out and an ending the talks on the first day: [Tweets]
President Donald Trump signaled Friday that his soaring tariffs on China may soon begin to drop. That doesn’t mean the two countries are close to a deal.

As RedState reported, things got spicy in New Jersey on Friday after a group of Democrat politicians tried to break into an ICE detention facility. (Snip) All three Democrat House members attempted to shove their way through a group of ICE agents who were guarding the first checkpoint into the facility. [Tweet, video]
One Democrat was arrested, though. That would be Newark Mayor Ras Baraka, who went even further in his confrontation with ICE agents. Naturally, after he was charged and released, he ran off to CNN to play the victim.

No one is above the law.
The Mayor of Newark was arrested for criminal trespass on Friday after storming an ICE detention facility.
Mayor Ras Baraka joined members of Congress to inspect the Delaney Hall detention facility in New Jersey when all hell broke loose.
In February, ICE announced it was expanding detention capacity with the Delaney Hall facility.
“This detention center is the first to open under the new administration,” said acting ICE Director Caleb Vitello in February. “The location near an international airport streamlines logistics, and helps facilitate the timely processing of individuals in our custody as we pursue President Trump’s mandate to arrest, detain and remove illegal aliens from our communities.”

As RedState reported, the Catholic Church now has a new Pope, with Cardinal Robert Prevost being selected Thursday on the fourth ballot and announced roughly an hour after white smoke began blowing from the Sistine Chapel's chimney in Rome late in the afternoon local time.
Prevost, now known as Pope Leo XIV, said during his speech to the world that "We must seek together how to be a missionary Church, a Church that builds bridges, dialogue, always open to receive like this square with its open arms, all, all who need our charity, our presence, dialogue and love."
Born in Chicago, Pope Leo XIV becomes the first ever American Pope.

Since losing bigly in the 2024 election, Democrats have been busy regrouping, criticizing the Trump administration, and, apparently, introducing ridiculous legislation to make spectacles of themselves.
Enter Rep. Jamie Raskin (D-MD), who announced on Thursday that he is introducing a bill that would require businesses to display the increase in prices due to President Donald Trump’s tariffs.
“If the President and his Cabinet of billionaires are forcing Americans to pay a lot more for consumer goods, the people have a right to know just how much,” he wrote in a post on X.
