The Right People Are In A Panic Over Trump’s Actions

The new president threw official Washington into a spinning tizzy when on Tuesday his Office of Management and Budget announced that he was temporarily freezing $3 trillion in “all activities related to obligation or disbursement of all federal financial assistance.” The executive order was blocked by a federal judge and the administration rescinded the memo. But the message was sent. This president is serious about removing the dead wood from the federal machine. An interesting secondary effect of the order was to show just how dependent politicians, party and government functionaries, institutions, and far too many private individuals

Top 60 out of 3 million is a good signal. But it must not sputter and stop at that. Two cases in point. This stay order on Federal grants cannot just be answered by rescinding the memo but leaving the EO intact. Neither can the Chicago judge's action freeing the Venezuelan criminal These must be swiftly and fiercely contested and reversed. With a clear signal that any future obstruction by the Left wing judiciary will not be tolerated.

"Our founders did not intend for their countrymen to live under the boot, nor be dependent upon, the federal government." Our founders envisioned the federal government as a necessary EVIL. There are certain things that only a top level government can do. The founders enunciated them in the constitution. The rest of the stuff that needs to get done was delegated to the states, local governments, and the American People. Why did they do that? To keep the federal government from doing things unnecessary to be done at the federal level and potentially evil things that are often done by those with too much power. The dems tried to label Trump a threat to democracy but Trump is well aware of the Constitutional framework and the only things that are in danger from him are those things that fall outside that framework. But dems are masters of relabeling terms so all the Leftist actions become "democracy". As it turns out, those things are all the garbage brought into the government by the dems over many decades. So Trump is a threat to the way dems want to govern, hopefully a FATAL threat. One might want to ask the dems what they mean by democracy. We could say, "You keep using that word. I don't think it means what you think it means.". Then pin them down to specifics and declare, "First, we are a Republic, NOT a democracy. Per Madison: "we may define a republic to be, or at least may bestow that name on, a government which derives all its powers directly or indirectly from the great body of the people {through elections}, and is administered by persons holding their offices during pleasure, for a limited period, or during good behavior. It is ESSENTIAL to such a government that it be derived from the great body of the society, not from an inconsiderable proportion, or a favored class of it; ... It is SUFFICIENT for such a government that the persons administering it be appointed, either directly or indirectly, by the people; and that they hold their appointments by either of the tenures just specified…" Therefore it is not what a politician DOES that would make him anti Republic (or anti democracy) it is how they are CHOSEN to the role. If they are elected by the "the great body of the people" they are following a Republic form of government. Trump decisively WAS. The dems and media have warped the term "democracy" to fit their desires and their claims are specious, as are most of their actions. Further, Constitutionally, the President as Chief Executive is afforded enormous power over the Executive branch of the federal government. He is the only person in the Executive defined in the Constitution. All the power of the other Executive officers and workers flow from the President. Yes, the President has to follow law. But much of what comes out of the Executive branch IS NOT LAW. It is decisions, definitions, and actions created by agencies and bureaus to carry out law. MUCH of such output may exceed the clear wording of the law that is used to empower it. So, if Trump sees federal actions that he feels exceed the law they are based on, he has every right to challenge those actions. That is well within his power as Chief Executive. AND it has no bearing on being anti democracy or anti republic. Laws are challenged all the time and it is good that they are.

The Executive can control what money is spent on. That is well established. The judge is wrong, as usual.

There are many people in DC trembling that their fraud will be uncovered by the new administration. Good. I hope they lay awake at night, worrying about the cost of hiring lawyers and going to jail.

Another year, another disastrous National School Report card, the annual checkup on American students’ test scores. Yes, it’s bad. After predictably plunging during the COVID school-shutdown years, scores show no signs of snapping back. This is child abuse on a national level. Our good friends at the Committee to Unleash Prosperity succinctly summed up the past five years: “The massive, unprecedented infusion of federal funds into schools under the guise of COVID recovery has abjectly failed to improve outcomes – but it has enriched the teacher unions.” Yep. And the test scores remain abysmal, with no improvement.

It was like yesterday. Nearly 50 years to the day, on Dec. 31, 1977, the Shah held a state dinner for U.S. President Jimmy Carter. Watching on television from my family’s middle-class home in western Tehran, I was eager to hear Carter’s speech. Having visited the U.S. as a curious tourist the previous summer, I had learned a few things about the American political system. In the middle of the speech, Carter toasted the Shah, saying Iran was “under your majesty, an island of stability in one of the more troubled areas of the world.” At that, I turned to

It’s a cardinal rule for many, if not most, economists that tariffs are at best a misguided strategy for reviving a nation’s economy, at worst a strategy that will backfire by hiking inflation and killing jobs. But don’t tell Americans that. Half of those in the most recent I&I/TIPP Poll support imposing new tariffs on other nations’ goods. President Trump came into office promising to impose a hefty 25% tariff on goods from Mexico and Canada, and an additional 10% tariff on China, citing those countries allowing “mass numbers of people and fentanyl” to cross their borders into the U.S. Initially, Trump said those tariffs would go into effect immediately, but

After four years spent denying that inflation was a problem, Democrats are suddenly screaming at President Donald Trump for not having lowered the price of eggs already. “Democratic lawmakers slam Trump for not making good on promise to ‘immediately’ lower food prices amid egg shortage,” shouts NBC News, pointing to a letter signed by Sen. Elizabeth Warren and other leftist lawmakers who accuse Trump of backtracking on his promise to deal with Bidenflation. This is all part of a coordinated – and rather pathetic – campaign by the left, which is saying things such as “Under Donald Trump’s leadership, egg prices

OK, we admit, we haven’t actually counted the number of reporters’ questions President Donald Trump has answered since being sworn in. And four years is certainly an exaggeration. In any case, someone covering the White House should keep track, because it won’t take long for Trump to beat Biden on this score. Biden held the fewest number of press conferences of any modern president. He would answer questions only from pre-selected reporters. He had to have a cheat sheet with him at all times to give his answers, and even then the White House would often have to rush out to correct
