Despite a long and arduous election season, rampant economic woes, and an increasingly polarized society, Americans remain optimistic about 2025, according to a recent poll. There are several reasons why people are encouraged heading into the new year, but one of them might be slightly surprising: The prospect of President-elect Donald Trump taking office.
A CBS News/YouGov poll revealed that 60 percent of respondents said the incoming Trump administration is a reason why they are feeling “hopeful” about 2025.
About 55 percent cited family/personal relationships, while 51 percent referred to the economy, personal finances, and opportunities.

President Joe Biden had an eventful last year in office, from losing track of his Defense Secretary to breaking one last promise and pardoning his son, all while dropping out of the presidential race and saying his final goodbye to the Oval Office.
Biden’s approval rating hit an all-time low, falling to 34% just two weeks before the end of the year. Biden battled low approval ratings before dropping out of the presidential race, but still managed to fight off a special counsel report, make it to the first debate, and overshadow Vice President Kamala Harris’s closing arguments before her loss.

President-elect Donald Trump issued a Christmas message to the “wonderful soldiers of China” who are “illegally, operating the Panama Canal” and to Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau on Wednesday.
“Merry Christmas to all, including to the wonderful soldiers of China, who are lovingly, but illegally, operating the Panama Canal (where we lost 38,000 people in its building 110 years ago), always making certain that the United States puts in Billions of Dollars in ‘repair’ money, but will have absolutely nothing to say about ‘anything,'” Trump wrote in a post on Truth Social. Trump continued, saying, “Also, to Governor Justin Trudeau of Canada, whose Citizens’ Taxes are far too high, but

Just days before Christmas, Sebastian Zapeta, a Guatemalan in the U.S. illegally, set an innocent woman on fire inside a New York City subway car.
The Gateway Pundit reported on Sunday that the woman was fatally lit on fire aboard a stationary F train at Brooklyn’s Coney Island-Stillwell Avenue subway station.
Zapeta was deported by the Trump Administration in June 2018. He then re-entered the US illegally as a ‘gotaway’ at an unknown time and location and roamed around freely thanks to Joe Biden.

President-elect Trump threw his support behind NHL legend Wayne Gretzky as a potential candidate for Canadian prime minister in a post on social media on Wednesday.
Trump wrote on Truth Social that Canadians should follow. (Photo) "I just left Wayne Gretzky, ‘The Great One as he is known in Ice Hockey circles. I said, ‘Wayne, why don’t you run for Prime Minister of Canada, soon to be known as the Governor of Canada - You would win easily, you wouldn’t even have to campaign,’" Trump wrote.
"He had no interest, but I think the people of Canada should start a DRAFT WAYNE GRETZKY Movement. It would be

Rep. Thomas Massie (R-KY) posted a poll on X early Wednesday morning, asking users on the platform if failed House Speaker Mike Johnson should be reelected to serve another term as Speaker on January 3, 2025.
Poll respondents, most of whom are likely Republican voters, overwhelmingly called for Johnson to be removed from leadership.
This comes after Mike Johnson caved and made a backroom deal with Democrats late Friday on a government funding bill, which President Trump previously made several demands for. Trump’s orders were not followed after Johnson’s betrayal.
Earlier in the day Friday, Republican leaders were advancing a strategy involving three separate bills after the Democrats and some Republicans rejected

In the aftermath of Hurricane Helene, which left parts of North Carolina, Georgia and Tennessee completely devastated, the Federal Emergency Management Agency failed to provide stranded Americans with basic needs. On Christmas, many towns are still struggling to get by with residents sleeping in tents. (X)
When it became evident in September that the federal government was failing to adequately respond, President-elect Donald Trump launched a GoFundMe page for hurricane victims.

Testimony and several reports have exposed unidentified flying object (UFO) sightings across the country amid the national attention on apparent drone observations over recent weeks.
Luiz Elizondo, the former head of the Defense Department’s Advanced Aerospace Threat Identification Program, and other witnesses testified before Congress last month about an alleged government group “hid[ing] the fact that we are not alone in the cosmos.”
“I believe that we as Americans can handle the truth. And I also believe the world deserves the truth,” Elizondo said, urging Congress to enact legislation protecting whistleblowers too afraid to come forward.
