With Kamala Harris now the presumptive Democratic Party nominee, it's worth remembering that the United States is still being actively run by a mentally deficient man who has no business anywhere near power.[Snip] Standing on an airport tarmac next to Air Force One, Biden was asked about his newly proposed Supreme Court "reforms" being "dead on arrival" in the House of Representatives. The president then quipped, "That's what he is," referring to Speaker Mike Johnson. When pressed for clarification, he doubled down, saying, "He is dead on arrival."

FTA: "You get some decisions you don't like so you try to remake the court? Dictators around the world are blushing." In her historical novel series, "Masters of Rome" (each book well over 500 pages), Colleen McCullough documents the slow fall of Republican Rome from Gaius Marius to Anthony and Cleopatra. The books show that we have a lot to learn about lawfare from the Romans. They had no constitution or Supreme Court to keep their government on its proper path, so the man in power who could pretty much do anything he wanted, if he get out the right people out to vote and dress it up so it looked like a proper law. Each man in power countermanded the previous laws he didn't like. When I think of Biden and his Executive Orders I am reminded of this and remember the Dictator Sulla. And I think that the Constitution and the Supreme Court is what keeps us from following the Roman Republic. (Gaius Julius Caesar, the nephew-by-marriage of Gaius Marius, doesn't even show up until book 3! Great series, if you like this stuff).

Biden’s remark about Johnson should not be a surprise to anyone who has been paying attention as just a few days before the assignation attempt on Trump occurred. As Biden essentially publicly remarked that it was time to put Trump in the bulls eye! Can you imagine the leftist and progressive Democrat response if Trump remarked anything like that? What have you heard from the wimpy Republicans about all that?

This included a list of talking points devised by the Partnership for Large Election Jurisdictions (PLEJ) that address potential questions voters and media may have about the 2024 election following Biden’s dropping out.

(CNN) — The judge who found Donald Trump liable for fraud and ordered the former president to pay $454 million said he will not recuse himself from the case. Trump asked Judge Arthur Engoron to step aside from the case, which is on appeal, alleging he engaged in “prohibited communications” with a real estate lawyer about the case before his decision was rendered earlier this year. “I am supremely confident in my ability to continue to serve, as I always have, impartially,” Engoron wrote in an order Thursday. The judge said that over three years into the litigation, his recusal  would result in “immense prejudice.”

President Joe Biden called for major changes to the Supreme Court on Monday, including a constitutional amendment that would limit immunity for presidents, impose term limits for justices and stipulate an enforceable code of ethicst. In an op-ed in the Washington Post, Biden said "no one is above the law." “Not the president of the United States,” he wrote. “Not a justice on the Supreme Court of the United States. No one.” In July, the Supreme Court ruled that presidents cannot be prosecuted for "official acts" during their time in office. The court's ruling stemmed from a case concerning former President Donald Trump.

One of my great peeves of the Trump era is the Greenland effect. I belong to a small group of people who think America should peacefully acquire Greenland. It’s an old idea. The State Department pitched buying the vast arctic island in 1946, but the Danes didn’t want to sell their colony, alas. But given its strategic and economic value, it’s worth revisiting.

Twenty-six years ago, a young man named Matthew Shepard was beaten and strung up on a Wyoming barbed wire fence to die. The beating and murder were because Shepard was gay. It has since been shown that Shepard and one of the perps were in the drug business together. Shepard was due to receive a $10,000 shipment of meth. The perp himself was gay and had been in a gay relationship with Shepard.

Just days into her candidacy — after President Joe Biden was reportedly forced out as the presumptive Democrat nominee amid a behind-the-scenes pressure campaign from top Democrats, donors, and Hollywood elites — Republicans have shown they are ready for Harris’s candidacy. As Times reporter Reid Epstein noted Monday, several videos and policy visions that Harris, who has been an elected official since 2004, espoused in her last bid for the presidency have already come back to “haunt” her.
