Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY) plans to draft articles of impeachment after the Supreme Court ruled former President Donald Trump may have some immunity from prosecution related to actions he took in the aftermath of the 2020 election.
“The Supreme Court has become consumed by a corruption crisis beyond its control,” Ocasio-Cortez said in a post to X on Monday. “Today’s ruling represents an assault on American democracy. It is up to Congress to defend our nation from this authoritarian capture.” “I intend on filing articles of impeachment upon our return,” the New York Democrat said.

"...an assault on American democracy" which you define as anything that displeases, inconveniences or obstructs the power of democrats in any way, thereby resulting in a foot-stomping tantrum. Silly twit.

Can a congress-kritter be impeached for terminal stupidity? If so, at least 3/4 of the democratic house membership would qualify. It would be hard to prioritize the top 10 but occasional cortex and mad Maxine Waters would be near the top. So many come to mind it is hard to choose.

Like I said earlier. Give it a year and when president Trump is elected and Congress start investigations into the corruption of Biden, Obama, and Clinton, she will be one of those screaming the loudest about 'immunity'.

SCOTUS requires that executive agencies act within the authorities granted by Congress within the bounds of Constitution. AOC thinks SCOTUS exists to rubber stamp everything she wants. She may be a firebrand, but she really is an ignorant one.

She’s certainly not the brightest, and she’s certainly annoying, but it sure would be nice to refrain from using barely camouflaged obscenities to discuss her. I’m no apologist for AOC by any stretch, but it’s not clever, it’s not funny, and it’s not helpful.

Well, smarty pants AOC, if the President does not deserve immunity from prosecution for actions taken as a part of their constitutional duties, should the same immunity also be taken away from snarky members of Congress? Don't forget, members of Congress also have immunity for things that they say and do as a part of their jobs a elected representatives. This "immunity" protects them when saying and doing some very inflammatory things or blatant defamation that would get many people sued or thrown in jail. Be careful what you wish for as what's good for the goose is good for the gander.

This was garden-variety 1983 official-immunity jurisprudence, although applied to a President for the first time. Nothing that surprising.

Typical AOC. Her first instinct in any situation is to draw attention to herself. There will be no impeachment. She needs to do her job and quit meddling in things she clearly doesn’t understand.

AOC knows nothing about what a Democratic Republic is. Before anyone is elected to Congress they need to pass a basic course on the Constitution and its intent. AOC and her ilk throw around terms to incite the rabble of which she is one.

Re #38, Nutty, Nasty Nancy DID "impeach" a former President, but really, beyond the Demonrat drones who followed her commands to "vote for impeachment", no one took it seriously.
I'm not sure that the question has actually been answered in any legitimate way. I doubt that the founding fathers had intended inpeachment to be applied to Presidents not in office, but ....some real lawyers would have to look at that one. And Nutty, Nasty Nancy's Clown Midway Sideshow doesn't shed an legitimate light on the subject.
