The Supreme Court ruled Friday that the government cannot prosecute January 6 defendants under 1512(c)(2), the “Enron” statute, for generally obstructing “an official proceeding” unless they interfered with objects or documents.
The bombshell decision could result in hundreds of convictions against non-violent January 6 defendants being overturned — and could result in at least some charges being dropped against President Donald Trump as well.1512(c)(2) was passed after the Enron scandal, when it was discovered that federal law had a loophole: it was illegal to instruct others to destroy evidence, but not illegal to destroy evidence oneself. Consequently, Congress passed a law prohibiting tampering with witnesses or evidence t

Hopefully they will release the political prisoners immediately. The DNC needs to be sued for false imprisonment, and torture on a case-by-case basis. Any elected officials or federal employees who carried out these actions should be brought to justice.

Remember that there were judges involved in this abuse of the justice system and none took action. These are dark times.

They don't need no laws. Just look at Letitia James, Alvin Bragg and Jack Smith.

All charges against Donald Trump should be dropped. Those charges are a shameful attempt to interfere with a Presidential election. The people who brought those charges should themselves be answering charges.
All people who have been in jail without trial or bail should be released immediately so that they can seek out lawyers and file suit against the people who violated their Constitutional right to bail and a trial in a reasonable length of time.

Sure, then blow up the rest of the case against DJT by ruling that he had presidential immunity, obviously.

We got a real lemon with the appointment of Amy Coney Barrett. She says, .."… But statutes often go further than the problem that inspired them, and under the rules of statutory interpretation, we stick to the text anyway.” Barrett said that Fischer had been properly prosecuted under the law. She is a authoritarian "law professor" with a total lack of discernment and wisdom. She will be the joker in many decisions to come.

pray w/ us on that, no. 1...we've read Team Evil is dusting off other invented or moribund charges to keep
the innocent in the deep state ring of hell, which does exist. iirc, it's the 8th ditch of hell--closest to lucifer--
for lying, evil, contemptable bureaucrats...and lawyers, one expects.

We did the same thing with Amy Coney Barrett that the democrats do with all of their DEI judges, force them into the position before too many people complain just to get another conservative on the bench. The woman has seven children, that alone should cause us to question her lack of judgement but she is not the only problem on that court. The Supremes should have jumped all over the unconstitutional injustices against Donald Trump since the 2020 election and that is all on Roberts' head. The Atlanta and New York freak shows should have been stopped at the federal level using the Constitution as the template. These people are as partisan as the rest of this government with the exception of Thomas, Alito and Gorsuch. The women are all pathetic.

The interpretation of the statute used by "the government" - which the Supreme Court said was wrong - was contrary to the most basic legal rules of statutory construction a law student learns in the first year of law school.
A lawyer could not possibly argue "the government's" interpretation in good faith. So they must have done it in bad faith.

My fantasy is for each leading Democrat member of Congress to commit seppuku for each suicide of a J6 prisoner, starting with Nancy Pelosi.
The whole sorry affair is a national disgrace unlike anything in our history.

Be advised! Ashli Babbitt is not going to be available for comment. But her murderer will be.
