Playing the Veepstakes guessing game is often a losing one for analysts. Vice-presidential selection is ultimately a highly personal choice, and it is simply too difficult to venture into the mind of one individual and mimic their thought process. Perhaps more importantly, Republican presidential nominees haven’t made the obvious choice for vice president since Ronald Reagan chose George Bush in 1980. Dan Quayle, Jack Kemp, Dick Cheney, Sarah Palin, Paul Ryan, and even Mike Pence were all somewhat “out-of-left-field” selections for their respective presidential candidates.
It is tempting to say that the journey into the mind of a presidential candidate is

IMO, Rubio should be a HARD NO. My view is that either Scott or Huckabee Sanders bring black and women voters so add to the attractiveness of the ticket with certain segments.
But, Trump doesn't know or much care (he shouldn't) what I think, and he'll do his on complex calculus on this. I hope it works better than Pence did.

I hope it's not Burgum. The media will have a field day commenting on his hair style, just as they do with Trump's.

I think that Rubio would be the best choice, although the state residency issue is a problem. Whoever is selected must be someone who could conceivably be elected president in 2028. Rubio is good looking, has a great family, is very articulate and can't be pushed around. That he is Hispanic is also a plus. His brutal take down recently of a network news reader on the question of whether Republicans will accept the result of the election was masterful. Senator Tim Scott recently found himself facing that same question and his response was abysmally weak. To the elephants who cannot get over Rubio's involvement in George Bush's failed attempt to open the flood gates to immigrants, legal and illegal, I will note that at that time President Trump was a registered Democrat, supported Democrats financially and even invited Hillary Clinton to his wedding to Melania.

None of these are going to help navigate America out of the upcoming financial disaster. My favored vp candidate is a person who well understands the world's debt-based financial system and how to make it compete with the now forming resource-based BRICS system. The name is {fill in the blank}. No hints. I'll leave it for the uber-smart L.Dotters to figure it out.

Re #4, Rubio is a snake in the grass on illegals. He'll be pushing back on deportations and endlessly seeking a way to make illegals legal.
No on Rubio. I think he's a fake conservative, just assigned the part to play.

I hope it's Mike Pompeo.
Strong, smart and an excellent presidential candidate for 2028.
Burgum would be my second choice.

#7, Care to backup the assertion that Rubio is a snake in the grass who would hamper the deportation of illegals and work to bestow citizenship on illegals without delving back into the Bush administration?

I don't want to hear about it until the Milwaukee convention.

It's not that important for this term, choosing the VP is setting up a successor who will not be all that active in day-to-day running of the government during the next four years. Look at Pence, nobody knew who he was until the act of cowardice on January 20, 2021. Look at Kamala Harris, a do-nothing placeholder who accomplished nothing and will not be considered for 2024. Look at Biden, he was the Kamala Harris of the Obama administration.

My choice is Candace Owens. Black, smart, competent, educated, a true conservative, a woman and NOT a politician.

Don’t discount Rep. Lee Zeldin
Lest we forget, Rubio was an ally of McPain and Lindsey Grahamnesty pushing the Gang of 8 AMNESTY plan in 2013!

If you haven’t read the J. D. Vance account of his life prior to politics, do so. Since entering politics, he seems to be genuine, trustworthy, and tested. We certainly could do worse. The book is worthwhile and a pleasure in itself.

Re #10.
Rubio vigorously push a immigration bill a number of years ago which included amnest and an easy path to citizenship for all illegals. It fortunately was only supported by a dozen Senators or so, and died.
IMO, he'll do it again.
Once for amnesty, never to be trusted.
