Dexter Taylor, a Brooklyn-based software engineer, has been sentenced to a decade in prison for building firearms in his home using parts purchased legally. He was arrested after a SWAT raid in 2022, and a jury convicted him of 13 counts last month. Now, he is set to spend up to ten years behind bars for what many perceive as an egregious violation of his Second Amendment rights.
The sentence was handed down on Monday by Judge Abena Darkeh, who presided over Taylor’s trial. The judge’s handling of the case has been criticized, especially her decision to prohibit mention of the Second Amendment in the courtroom during the trial.

“She told us, ‘Do not bring the Second Amendment into this courtroom. It doesn’t exist here. So you can’t argue Second Amendment. This is New York.’”
Another soon to be reversed, very confused, tyrant.

Another judge ignoring the US Constitution to pursue a blatant political agenda. Sure, the judge is supposed to follow the laws of the country and is allegedly following the laws of the State of New York and the USA. Unfortunately, in New York, political agenda trumps law. If you are on the wrong side of the political agenda you automatically lose and the "judges" will do their best to assure that you are convicted to make an example of you. There are no repercussions for these corrupt prosecutors or judges for destroying the lives of people. Too bad the Appeals Courts or US Supreme Court couldn't dole out some type of censure or judicial punishment for blatant violations of judicial conduct and ignoring the Constitution (including removal from the bench and disbarmet).

This will get overturned on appeal, for certain.
Insanity is the standard of behavior in NYC courtrooms, clearly. This is what happens when lunatic leftists appoint incompetent, affirmative action "judges" who know nothing about the law and care less about 'justice'.

And the judge's last name is a "racial slur" if I were to pronounce it, probably.

It is not so much that this decision will be reversed on appeal. It is that Taylor will have incurred many thousands in legal debt to secure his rights. THAT money should come out of Darkeh's pocket and hide.

Putting a black man behind bars for exercising his second amendment right … prohibiting him from exercising his right to free speech in the courtroom … why did the judge not just don white sheets and a pointy white hat? Now this is racism! The KKK could not have done a better job.

I hope someone combs through her prior sentences and compares THIS to...muti times felons, caught with firearms, committing carjackings, shootings, robberies, assaults, how much time do THEY get from her?
This guys "Toys/Models" assembled from legal parts and pieces had never been fired, never left his gun safe, never left his "Home", now was their any intent that they even would...or ever be offered for sale.

FTA —- Taylor also pointed out that the judge would sustain objections when none were given by the prosecution. “That happened multiple times, at least a dozen or more times during the trial, where she would simply say ‘sustained’ without the prosecution having lodged an objection.”
This skank judge should be kicked off the bench.
Taylor’s family has created a GiveSendGo to help with his legal expenses. The fund is linked in the article.

One thing is certain it isn't without reason for Americans to no longer trust our Judicial system.
The Judges themselves are the guilty parties destroying the system and Americans trust in it.

Needless to say she ain't one of my Amish friends. Send this piece of trash back to where she came from, the lousy law school she attended perhaps she might learn something the second of third time around.

What's confusing to me is that this judge has a very impressive background and a long career at various levels of the judicial system, including as a prosecutor. Something recent must have "flipped" her and caused her to behave in this irrational manner.

And out of the other side of her mouth, she no doubt cries that Donald Trump is a threat to democracy.

This is a judge who otherwise has been releasing violent felons back onto the streets with no bail.

The Gun Rights lobby has lawyers. They should take this case on for free. They cannot afford to lose this one. It will set a precedent across the country otherwise.
