United Methodists repealed their church’s ban on LGBTQ clergy in a landslide 692 votes for and 51 votes against at their General Conference Wednesday with no debate, The Associated Press (AP) reported.
The repeal removed the church’s rule that expressly forbade “self-avowed practicing homosexuals” from becoming ordained or appointed as ministers, The AP reported. The vote also reportedly repealed a ban on same-sex marriages, allowing clergymen to perform LGBTQ wedding ceremonies without repercussions.

The United Methodist Church, in which my mother grew up, has canceled their blessing. They've gone DEI. Time to leave that church.

The Bible warns us that in the end days, there will be a rise in apostate churches. If you attend a United Methodist church, you're attending a Church in Name Only.

From chapter 4 of St. Paul's second letter to Timothy: For there shall be a time, when they will not endure sound doctrine; but, according to their own desires, they will heap to themselves teachers, having itching ears: And will indeed turn away their hearing from the truth, but will be turned unto fables.

My mom quit them a few years before she died for just that reason. The neighborhood church where I live now quit them and tore down all their signs and symbols. Not sure who they are impressing with this woke foolishness, but it doesn't appear to be their members.

The UMC bishops did this and their arrogant demands have split the Church. We left after 30 years. It’s not homophobia (we have a gay daughter) but the sheer railroading of their agenda that has caused so many disaffiliations. This split was fully avoidable but the left is intolerant and will use totalitarian methods to get what they want.

Homosexual clergy has been allowed for years at the UMC.
In 2023, many many churches disaffiliated from the UMC, and that would account for the loss of votes to uphold Biblical principles at this general conference.
Also, this year about 25% of the African delegates were mysteriously invited too late to be able to get visas to attend the conference in the US. It was the African delegates’ vote that maintained the status quo in the 2019 special general conference called to address ‘a way forward’ on this divisive issue.
The Africa congregations are not allowed to disaffiliate, so that is an injustice that must be corrected.
We left in 2015 and thank God every day for His hand in that, for it led to our salvation in Christ. What a merciful, good God.

Sorry for second post, but, some years ago, our minister, a great guy, always preached in a suit and tie, married my wife and I, spoke at my parents and grand parents funerals, retired. He was replaced by a guy that came to the pulpit with a golf club, dressed in shorts and a golf shirt to preach...he brought in 'modern' music and when old time parishioners, sons and daughters of those who built that selfsame church, had the temerity to complain, he basically said he wanted a 'mega' church, and if we didn't like it we could leave...half the congregation did. Later they sold the building and moved to an outlying area and built a new one....now he has 700+ church goers...I, to this day, don't know how he is preaching as I have never set foot in there, and don't plan on ever doing it...those half of churchgoers are like the sons of Israel, cast to the winds.
Think we aren't in the end times? Think again...

Not sure who said it first, but if sin is no longer sin, then Jesus died for nothing, and no one needs him...which leaves me to wonder what is the new raison d'etre for the UMC...because they apparently no longer need Jesus to atone for their sins.
Oh, and BTW, if they don't need Jesus, then they are no longer Christian.

More than 1/4 of all Methodist churches in the United States have disaffiliated from the UMC over this and other similar positions.

This really isn't new news. Many Methodist churches have had LBTQGWXYZ ministers for years. It's why many Methodists have left the Methodist church or switched to non-denominational churches or Methodist churches that still practice conservative services.

I grew up attending Sunday School and services in a Methodist church in NE Maryland. A Hammond organ supporting a large choir and great communal gatherings after the service every weekend. I moved on, but noticed that my parents started losing faith in the institution. They have since passed, but I happened to be back in the area recently and had the opportunity to watch the church let out on a Sunday morning. 13 people - including the minister - exited the building. Sad.

It all started with letting women into the clergy and has now deteriorated into this,
And they wonder why organized religion is dying.
