Terry Clark Hughes Jr. is the 39-year-old suspect who opened fire at the scene where four law enforcement officers in Charlotte, North Carolina, were shot and killed on April 29, according to Charlotte-Mecklenburg police. Hughes was not the only shooter, Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Chief Johnny Jennings said in a news conference. “When they approached Hughes,” officers “were met by gunfire and returned the gunfire, striking” Hughes, who was found deceased in a yard, Jennings said. Officers then received “additional gunfire from inside of the residence,” he said. It was not immediately clear whose bullets struck which officers.

Comments:

Disgusting that this filthy trash was allowed to breath for 39 years.

What a waste. Prayers for the families and friends of these officers. They go into work everyday knowing there is a possibility they will not return home after their shift. That is a heavy burden to bear for both the officer and his family. God bless them all. We owe them respect and admiration. Theirs is not an easy job.

You don't hunt bear by walking into a cave, you wait for him to come out in the open. They should have nailed this animal with a tranquilizer dart when he was out and about. Tragic loss of life. When you knock on a door you have no idea what's behind it.

I have a question... Why do police do a knock warrant on a suspect like this, who, apparantly, has a violent history, and do no-knock warrants on others who have little to no violent history? It's almost like someone wants to get people killed, and they don't care if it's officers or the general public.

I just went on the Wall St Journal and New York Post websites, and neither has a single word about this. Both are owned by Rupert Murdoch, I wonder if that has anything to do with it. Usually the NY Post would have a story like this in huge letters at the top of the page.

He was being served with a warrant for "felon in possession of a weapon, and Fleeing eluding" after numerous prior arrests and convictions for being a Felon in possession of a weapon, as well as fleeing and eluding...also...revocation of Parole, hence he Correction Officers as part of the arrest team. The other shooter(s) were females...one of whom is 17yo. They say...."High powered rifle", what sort of rifle? What caliber? Basic rule of thumb..."High powered" arguably begins with a 6.5mm(260cal) that use necked down 30cal cases, includes most .30cal and above.

What these murders of those law enforcement officers clearly show is that violent career criminals and “nut jobs” do not obey gun control laws. That means that in those instances, gun control laws are useless to keep firearms out of their hands, as far as violent criminals and “nut jobs” are concerned. Essentially what all that means is that over the top gun control laws just serve as an unnecessary hindrance to law abiding citizens and their Second Amendment rights! Can you imagine Biden’s over the top political response if the perpetrators of these crimes turned out to be White men? If that were the case all we would have heard from Biden would have been “White Supremacy” did it and that guns must be banned to keep them out of such hands. But now the Biden response will be limited to blaming guns for the murders. Will Biden show up at any public funeral for the slayed officers? Only if he can gain some political gain for himself, that’s for sure!

Upon further research, this was a "US Marshals' WarrantTask Force" or something like that, and had US Marshals and local police working together for high threat felony warrants. And....this still happened? So, who planned this operation? Very badly planned, and the bad guy or guys, there is some possibility of multiple shooters, got the advantage and the "pros" did a really bad job of this. Four dead and four wounded is a disaster that requires a serious look to avoid a repeat.

The Biden administration is slated to announce sanctions against the IDF’s Netzah Yehuda battalion for alleged human rights abuses against Palestinians in the West Bank, the Axios news site reported on Saturday. It would be the first time the US has ever taken such a step. The battalion has been at the center of several controversies in the past connected to right-wing extremism and violence against Palestinians, notably including the 2022 death of Omar As’ad, a 78-year-old Palestinian-American who died after being detained, handcuffed, blindfolded, and later abandoned in near-freezing conditions by soldiers of the battalion. The reported US plan drew a scathing response from Israeli officials

The Supreme Court on Monday will weigh arguments in a case involving the homeless and bans on where they may sleep, the most significant one on the issue in decades. The dispute involves whether laws that punish homeless people with civil citations for camping on public property are outside the bounds of the Constitution. Cities have been searching for ways to address homeless encampments that they say threaten public health and safety. A decision will shed light on how far city and state officials can go to address homeless encampments and is likely to reach beyond the borders of the Oregon city at the center of the dispute.

An amendment from Sen. Ron Wyden (D-Ore.) and others would strike from the bill a House provision that redefines what types of communications companies would have to comply with the law. The House amendment from Intelligence Committee Chair Mike Turner (R-Ohio) was intended to address a mysterious battle by the government to get one unnamed communications company to aid in overseas surveillance, with the FISC

The U.S. Navy has spent approximately $1 billion countering missile and drone attacks from Iran and the Tehran-backed Houthis in the Middle East, as detailed by Secretary of the Navy Carlos Del Toro. This expenditure has been incurred over six months due to direct attacks on U.S. Navy and merchant ships, with air defense missiles like SM-2s, SM-6s, and SM-3s being used extensively. Del Toro highlighted the financial strain this has placed on military resources, emphasizing the urgent need for supplemental funding of $95 billion to replenish munitions.
