There's been an unprecedented movement by college-age kids away from Ivy League and other so-called elite schools toward schools in the South. It's no mystery. Several factors are at play in this migration, including a greater sense of freedom, great college sports teams, and warmer weather. The pandemic hastened the migration as southern schools had relaxed strict COVID restrictions long before the eastern schools got around to it. The Free Press reports, "Both Brown and Harvard saw dips in their application numbers this year—by 5 percent and 3 percent, respectively. (Early decisions to Harvard were down 17 percent.)

Watch out, a lot of the southern schools have been contaminated, too. But avoiding the worst of the brainwashing centers is a good move. If you aren't looking for an engineering degree, I'd give Hillsdale College a hard look. I get some pamphlets from them, newsletters more, with excellent essays and commentary from time to time. Seems like a really sensible college.

$90K per year to be indoctrinated with a degree that qualifies you to work in the fast food industry. That being said, there are thousands of foreign students lined up to get into the Ivy League schools, so don't expect any changes in the near future.

Harvard has gone so far downhill that I would consider it a black mark on a resume. Tenured, liberal professors are doing untold damage to the students. They are not alone but they are at the top of a long list. It's not your daddy's school.

When Ivy covers a wall it also covers ALL WINDOWS. IT's no wonder Academia can't find their Azz with both hands and a giant flashlight!

FCC Votes to Reinstate Net Neutrality 6 replies
Posted by Dreadnought 4/25/2024 5:57:45 PM Post Reply
On Thursday, the Federal Communications Commission (FCC), by a 3-2 vote, reinstated the Obama-era net neutrality rule. The 3-2 vote along partisan lines is a victory for Democrats, who have pushed for this type of regulation for the last two decades and say it’s necessary for consumer protection, fair competition and national security. The rules, which prevent broadband providers from blocking and throttling consumers’ internet traffic, were repealed in 2017 during the Trump era. The order also reclassifies broadband as a telecom service, as the 2015 rules did, expanding the agency’s authority to regulate internet networks. An earlier version of the rules was struck down by a court in 2014.

The saga of how state-run radio (better known as NPR) continues to fester, despite the best attempts of NPR’s new apparatchick, Katherine Maher, to suggest her previous hostile comments about free speech, her “my trutherism,” and her Democratic partisanship are all “taken out of context.” (Understand that for the contemporary left, “context” is everything, so claiming something anyone says is “taken out of context” is not a denial that they meant what they said. You’re just not choosing the “right” context to understand it properly.) Yesterday the New York Times reported on “Inside the Crisis at NPR,” and it could easily be a premier entry in our currently dormant “Civil War

The University of Southern California said Thursday it will cancel its main commencement ceremony after it faced backlash over an earlier decision not to allow valedictorian Asna Tabassum to deliver a speech at the ceremony, drawing the ire of pro-Palestinian activists. “We understand that this is disappointing; however, we are adding many new activities and celebrations to make this commencement academically meaningful, memorable, and uniquely USC, including places to gather with family, friends, faculty, and staff, the celebratory releasing of the doves, and performances by the Trojan Marching Band,” the university said in a statement announcing the decision to cancel

Former National Enquirer publisher David P* resumed testifying on Thursday about the “catch-and-kill” process he used to bury former president Donald Trump’s alleged extramarital affairs, revealing for the first time that former FBI director James Comey may have been made aware of the scheme before Trump took office. Addressing jurors in the Manhattan courtroom, prosecutors began the day by focusing on P*'s coordination with Trump and his former attorney Michael Cohen in 2016 to purchase a story from former Playboy model Karen McDougal, according to multiple reports.

Washington — The Supreme Court’s conservative majority on Thursday appeared open to recognizing some level of immunity from federal prosecution for former presidents as they weighed a blockbuster dispute that will be critical to the fate of former President Donald Trump’s 2020 election case in Washington, D.C. But the court expressed skepticism toward Trump’s argument that he should be absolutely immune from charges related to conduct that occurred while he was in office. Across nearly three hours of arguments, several members of the court’s six-member conservative bloc signaled that they believed a former president should be shielded from criminal charges for some actions undertaken within the duties

The U.S. fertility rate hit a new record-low last year, continuing a persistent trend that will have significant consequences for American society. The total fertility rate dropped to 1.62 births per woman last year, a 2 percent decline from the year before, according to newly released data from the Centers for Disease Control. The figure is below replacement level, meaning Americans are not having enough children to replace themselves, a development with major implications for the American economy. The total fertility rate recorded by the CDC is the lowest since the U.S. government began tracking it nearly a century ago. It reflects a trend visible across the developed

A giant floating pier is due to be completed in the next two weeks in the eastern Mediterranean from where it will be pushed towards the Gaza shore, but there is growing uncertainty over how useful the US project will be in containing a famine. There are concerns in the humanitarian community that Israel has co-opted the pier plan, which Joe Biden touted as a way to bring about a “massive” increase in aid to Gaza, with one aid official saying the project was in danger of becoming a “smokescreen” for the planned invasion of Rafah. US officials had said the pier was due to be in position by early

The New York Court of Appeals on Thursday overturned the sex crimes conviction against Harvey Weinstein, the powerful Hollywood producer whose downfall stood as a symbol of the #MeToo movement. The court, by a 4-3 vote, ordered a new trial. “We conclude that the trial court erroneously admitted testimony of uncharged, alleged prior sexual acts against persons other than the complainants of the underlying crimes because that testimony served no material non-propensity purpose,” the ruling, written by Judge Jenny Rivera, states. “The court compounded that error when it ruled that defendant, who had no criminal history, could be cross examined about those allegations as well as numerous allegations of misconduct

As Jews wake up to the reality that the Democrat party has broken its decades’ long implied promise to protect the Jews from another Holocaust, Joe Biden may be doubling down on an effort to placate the Hamas wing of the Democrat party. According to an Israeli reporter who has highly placed contacts at the Hague, the International Criminal Court (“ICC”) is planning to arrest senior Israeli officials, something it would do only if it had the Biden administration’s permission. Caroline Glick, who is very connected to information about the Israeli government, broke the news to English-language speakers:

Axios has released a new poll showing American attitudes toward illegal immigration and the question of mass deportations. The results are a disaster for Joe Biden and the Democratic Party. The survey, which was done by Harris, found that a full 42 percent of Democrats favor mass deportations as a solution to Biden's self-created border crisis. That is a shocking total. We aren't talking about a polling question regarding reform for asylum rules. On that, you might expect some separation on the left. I would have never expected almost half of Democrats to be in favor of mass deportations, though. That is the supposed "radical" position

Talk about a case of whiplash. The day after a county judge dismissed state charges against 140 illegal aliens who caused a riot against National Guard troops, a grand jury indicted the illegal aliens. Essentially, the grand jury overruled the county judge. The illegal aliens are still in jail because they have an ICE retainer against them. That's the federal jurisdiction. A county court-at-law judge found no probable cause on Monday to continue holding 140 illegal aliens at the El Paso County Jail. They were detained on state riot charges. So, El Paso County Court-at-Law No. 7 Judge Ruben Morales agreed with El Paso County Chief Public Defender Kelli Childress

A top Hamas political official told The Associated Press the Islamic militant group is willing to agree to a truce of five years or more with Israel and that it would lay down its weapons and convert into a political party if an independent Palestinian state is established along pre-1967 borders. The comments by Khalil al-Hayya in an interview Wednesday came amid a stalemate in months of cease-fire talks. The suggestion that Hamas would disarm appeared to be a significant concession by the militant group officially committed to Israel’s destruction.

President Joe Biden has repeatedly said he won’t hike taxes on anyone earning less than $400,000, but then this week he promised on X to hike taxes on just about everyone. Now, to be fair, Biden may not have understood that’s what he’s saying. Letting the Tax Cuts and Jobs Act expire and “stay expired” would be a massive middle-class tax hike because the Tax Cuts and Jobs Act was a massive middle-class tax cut. Yes, wealthy people also saw their taxes reduced by the TCJA, but the law actually shifted a greater portion of the tax burden onto the wealthy. The TCJA doubled the child tax credit

The decades-old NASA Voyager 1 spacecraft has begun sending readable communications again after months of transmitting gibberish. Voyager 1 – the most distant human-made object in existence – has been sending back data from interstellar space for nearly 50 years after being launched in 1977. However, in November a glitch occurred that made the spacecraft's data about its environment and the health of its own systems unintelligible to the NASA scientists monitoring it. Famous for snapping photos of Jupiter, Saturn and their moons, Voyager 1 then returned readable communications on April 20, confirming it is still safely cruising outer space.
